This is where players have double standards, they expect to earn good money. Demand moves when they want to, throw huffs if they don't play as much as they think they deserve, refuse to move if a club decides to move on and they don't like it, perform below expectations and show little resilience. So frustrating, perform and you have no problems. Show up every day and earn your money with a good attitude, or if you're not happy then you have to move that works for both yourself AND the club but don't just be a dick.

It could well do and if he really wants to leave then he will have to accept that but it also has to be right for the club, and I hope he's not being difficult because he isn't getting his own way. Head down and show up still until it's resolved or if it's that important to get out then it's probably going to cost him somehow. Anyway, wanted to say.....whether Onkwonko or Mannion is the better keeper is probably not the issue with NJ.
NJ needs 2 keepers of Championship quality, to be in direct competition with each other - and to fit seemlessly into the team when called upon.

Below are the FootMob stats (per 90 mins) for Oknokwo, Kaminski, and Mannion in the Championship last season.
Also, as Mannion has a much smaller (but still statistically significant)
sample size of just 9 games last season, I’ve included his head to head comparison with Okonkwo in League One 2024/25.Okonkwo comes out on top in the League One season but, interestingly, in last season’s Championship, Mannion leads the trio in Saves, Save Percentage, Goals Conceded, Goals Prevented, and High Claims (which presumably is an indicator of how well a goalie commands his area).Where Mannion falls a bit short is the number of errors that led to a goal. I’m not sure what FootMob’s criteria is for that particular stat, or how it compares to what fans or managers might consider an avoidable error, but it’s possible that a couple of errors in a few games may not have been a repeated pattern if he played 30 plus games and his over stat may look better. It’s also possible he’s just a liability waiting to happen, however he went the whole of 2024/25 without a single one so did not have a track record of being error strewn prior to those couple of matches, at least according to FootMob. What is interesting is, in his 9 games, he made up for those 2 errors by conceding nearly 2 goals less than the xG stats would predict. He was the only one of the three to out perform xG, with Okonkwo conceding 2 more than xG would predict and Kaminski a whopping 6 more.
Stats don’t tell you everything, of course, and goalies’ performances are not independent of the defences in front, but I do think goalkeeper is the position where they are perhaps most useful in isolation. And, when you look at those stats, they neither say Okonkwo is way ahead or that Mannion is way behind. Probably the one the stats are least kind to is Kaminski, but even then he’s not far worse.
My conclusion is, if Okonkwo is the best we can afford and is available he’s probably fine and a small improvement on Kaminski, but also Mannion should not be just discounted out of hand and probably deserves a bit more credit for aspects of his games last season.
Anyway, wanted to say.....whether Onkwonko or Mannion is the better keeper is probably not the issue with NJ.

Wow there interesting stat's!! One of the things that I was moaning about during the game, was the fact that Mannion kept launching the ball upto Godden. Clearly he wasn't doing it as much as I thought.0 -

Okonkwo's double-howler in the 89th minute against Swansea last season sticks in the memory. Terrific shot stopper but he has more a crazy moment in him. Still, he's better than what we've got at the moment. Kaminski contributed very little last season, and Mannion is not a Championship #1.2

I’d like to think that even though this goalkeeping “crisis” has come pretty much out of the blue and late on in the window, that we’d have a list of goalkeepers that we like and keep tabs on. Unless Okonkwo is one of those players which I very much doubt, it would appear that we’re almost being railroaded into him. If it’s a loan which makes sense then it’s stop gap so why not go and buy one of the players on our list. If there isn’t a list then why isn’t there.0

There must be a decent Premier League keeper who is down the pecking order who we could loan for a season.

Maybe this is why the loan talk starts up - we need a keeper pronto but Okwonkwo isnt seen as the long term answer, only a stop gap.0 -

I’m Guessing the goalkeepers on that list will be currently either second / third choice at their clubs or young or playing no higher than league one. I think if that’s correct that a money bid would often do the trick.fenaddick said:

The South London "cages" might be a major source of talent, but its one with no real connection to us. I doubt any of the 14-16 year old youngsters we've lost support us or indeed Millwall. Indeed hardly any will support Palace, despite them being a PL team.

He was for a fair chunk of the first half - which was a bit of a worry - we were clearly looking to play off the second ball / knock down - Godden proved to be better in the air / doing the target man stuff than i thought during our promotion season but it did seem strange to do that in the first game as a plan that had been worked on by design pre season. Whether we thought Derby's main centre back being out would prove a weakness i don't know but there were lots of times when i thought the ball into feet to Chaloabah was on but he didn't do it. The centre half with the hair gobbled it up the high balls and that's when they got on top and had us on the back foot. He didn't deny we admired Holsgrove though, just that it would be unlikely we could afford him. I suspect JRS is a similar situationScoham said:

At any point we need a player, looking around a the market and who is available makes sense, and he just became 3rd choice at Wrexham rather than competing with Ward for starts.3 -
Have been impressed with Okonkwo for some time now. If we can get him that could be huge for us. I have seen him play a lot last seasons and he has been very good against us but also in some cup ties I have seen of them. Only 24 still so a lot of potential.
