We need to press home this excellent start to the season. Go get Jes and another midfield option to cover us in the eventuality that Chalobah will get an injury.
We still haven’t seen Ouma and there’s a lot more to come from Mwamba.
The squad space issue means we're certainly going to keep Mwamba and Mbick around

    Genuine question...

After today, do we really need JRS? Is he going to be better than Grant?

He’s going to be a lot better than Apter though. We need a squad, especially looking at the fixture list Grant and TC aren’t going to be able to start every game

Yes, because we need a squad just like NabySarr said

Yes, because as we know, when one forward gets injured, two or three more will likely follow!

We're trying to build the squad gradually by adding a couple of key players each summer, rather than making wholesale changes. Don't let a six point difference alter your view of the entire season!

Grant plays in Carey’s role and JRS goes onto the right.

But it’s all about options - and we will have them

Do think there's an interesting question to ask with regards to how Knibbs fits into things if KG plays the Carey role. I wouldn't be surprised if Chapple has calls from League 1 sides.

I would, he'd put them straight through to JIm!

Ha! Fair enough, I'm still a bit fuzzy on how everything actually works internally on that side of things.
  • Do we think we’ll loan out Apter if we get JRS or keep him?

Keep otherwise we'll need another RM.

Think it would be more likely Knibbs goes if Grant is to play inbetween TC and JRS

I think he will leave if we sign JRS. He’d be 5th choice winger, not making the bench if everyone is fit. And I think last season showed he’s maybe not the best non-playing squad member

Also would be better for his development to play in league 1 than barely play for us

    From Palace forum

Charlton fans think they will get JRS back however I doubt they could afford the fee so loan would be their only option. I doubt that will happen unless we can't sell him. I suspect the same with Esse.

It's that time of the window where selling clubs have to decide whether to drop their price, ship out on loan or just stick with him in the hope that they will improve.
I showed this post to a mate of mine who is a season ticket holder at Palace. His response was as follows :

“Can Charlton afford £5m with add-ons? Esse would be £10m with add-ons“

I can’t see us spending £5m on any player so if he does join us I suspect it’s another loan deal.
Would Palace prefer to get say £3m now rather than lose him for nothing next summer? He'll be 24 later this year so they wouldn't even get compensation.

Rich Cawley mentioned on his pod that Palace need to sell some players due to the UEFA financial fair play rules given they're playing European football this season.
The same man who told me we were getting Okonkwo also said we were getting JRS. I took the 2nd with a pinch of salt, but not it seems he was on the money. What surprises me is how much he knows given his no longer associated

Strikes me that lots of people who work in football are very loose lipped and want people to know that they have info

Grant has barely played as a 10 in his career. Not sure we can say that without seeing more of it

Think there is more to come from Cov too tbf. He's generally looked excellent so far this season, progressive play is so much better than last year

Yeah I'd be keeping Apter around. You're only one injury from needing him and he might actually start on Wednesday if NJ rotates the wingers and rests Grant/TC for Apter/Alli

Today couldn’t have done any harm in decision making👍 not that just one game makes the difference, but bet he would have loved to be part of it.

Mmmh, nothing is done until it's confirmed. Parish doesn't have much class and also likes to move goal posts out the blue.

Really depends how many other  concrete offers are in for him, if not many he can’t be too fussy can he?

Maybe Palace will decide they need a player of JRS's ilk in their matchday squad following the defeat at Everton this afternoon..... ;)
