She doesn’t seem the type to post unsubstantiated rumours . Really hope it’s happened and it’s permanent .
I don't think she's ever been wrong when commenting on Charlton.

If Tash is willing to post what she has the info will be bang on as I am sure stjohnshill’s will be - only question is whether JRS is meeting Jim and Nathan with his agent to try to close something out, having a fitness test ahead of signing or strolling in for his first re-integrating training session? Hopefully the latter. Would love to see him feature vs Spurs - the lad came pull something out the fire (as we have seen before).

Believe he would be super motivated and happy with us.

So good to have so much feel good factor around our club again.

Not sure why last two pages people are suddenly talking about JRS as a loan. Can’t see that happening at all, he has one year left, Palace will want money now, not losing him on a free later on. If he comes here, it’s on a permanent deal.
Unless Palace think, if he plays well, they can recall him in January to sell him for more money...

Bit of a Chelsea and Gallagher plan.
Or, with six months to go on his contract JRS can just run it down and get a juicy signing on fee in the summer. He can also sign a pre contract come January.

I suspect that this has been going on for weeks .  If he’s at the training ground , we must be a way down the line .

Does the prospect of it being a loan actually have ITK substance? Doesn’t seem to but if so that would really take the gloss of it tbh

There is no chance it is a loan, palace want a permanent deal. They’d rather drop their price than agree to a loan

I will be pleased and relieved if JRS signs, as I think he will strengthen our first XI, and we are unlikely to sign anyone else as good at this late stage of the window.  However, in an ideal world, I would rather we had signed, for a similar amount of money, Jordan Holsgrove, or someone of that ilk, as we will still be left with a paper-thin midfield that will look vulnerable if Chalobah is injured. And that was obviously NJ's strategy for the window, too.

On another matter, why has no report been posted of our u18's 3-1 win over Huddersfield on Saturday?
Given our recent history of dreadful injury records and paper thin squads I think depth is always a big part of the puzzle, however in the position you reference we currently have Coventry, Chalobah, Ouma, Mwamba, Docherty and (if need be) JRC and even Carey who NJ I think ideally wants to play deeper. I’m not sure there’s space for much more realistically, even if one goes out
Chalobah is notoriously injury prone. if he were not, he would not be with us because he is real class.

Ouma is a punt.  He be wonderful or may be crap. We will not know until which months after the window closes.

Mwamba we have great hopes for, but has looked lost in his two cameos so far, so may take some months to be worth a place in the team.

Docherty, JRC and Carey are all crap and should be nowhere a Championship side. JRC is onw of the worst players I have ever seen in a Charlton shirt. He finds it hard to break into a slow trot. Maybe our best passer, but that is not enough.

Coventry has played really well this season. So much better without Docherty confusing him. But that is only three games. After three seasons of League One standard play, where he looked solid but unenterprising, I have yet to be convinced he will maintain his new level.

We need a rugged box-to-box MF in there who can defend when called on. Someone like George Dobson. I know we cannot sign him, because a section of posters throw temper tantrums at the thought of re-signing former players, but someone of that type. Sam Morsy would have been ideal. He left on a free.
FFS, Is this your first season watching Charlton?
My first match at the Valley was August 31, 1957: Charlton Athletic 2–0 Grimsby Town. Leary scored both goals, one direct from a corner. I had watched them two or three times previously at Stamford Bridge with my Chelsea-supporting father and brother. I was the red sheep of the family.

When I wrote "one of the worst", I meant for the level we were playing at.  We may have had worse in the lower divisions. Hard to compare. Charlie Kirk was worse, but I only said "one of the worst", not "the worst".

You're still a mile off. Just in the not so distant past we've had Yassin Moutaouakil, Lee Cook, Dean Sinclair, Izale McLeod, that version of Andy Gray, Matt Spring, Tresor Kandol, Keith Gillespie, Graeme Murty, Martin Cranie, Tom Soares, Salim Kerkar, Danny Seaborne, Eggert Jonsson, Abdul Razak, Simon Church, Loic Nego, Polish Pete, Reza, Yohann Thuram, Marcus Tudgay, Davide Petrucci, Franck Moussa, Oguchi Onyewu, Christophe Lepoint, George Tucudean, El-Hadji Ba, Christian Ceballos, Bergdich, Vaz Te, McAleny, Makienok, Rhys Williams, Yaya Sanogo, Hemed, Ledley, David Davis, Matt Smith, all at Championship level. And that's not even all the absolute creatures we've had to suffer at this level. JRC hasn't had a lot of opportunities and it doesn't look like he fits in that well with Jones' style but that performance against Coventry alone puts him ahead of the majority of these immediately. There's more to come from JRC, whether or not Jones can fully extract it I don't know, but my God. One of the worst? When Salim Kerkar exists? Behave.

George was in the form of his life when he had to quit at 29 because of a heart issue; his father quit at 27 with the same problem. Tucudean could be the richest footballer that ever played for CAFC as the family were estimated to be worth 100 million pounds.
Does he want to buy a stake in Charlton?

It's being hinted at on the other place but it would be bad for us and Palace so I don't see it

The other place just doesn’t want to be wrong about us having no money and the owners losing interest

No doubt if he signs this could be the making of JRS, it’s encouraging that he really seems to want to come to us( based on the prolonged link with us over time) I’d imagine if we don’t get the best out of him nobody will, a happy player is quite often a better player. I am really excited about the idea of him joining with the balance it will give, but also tempering that with needing to see him perform well again. But none of us really know how it will pan out until we witness him in the red of Charlton again, I was getting a little twitchy a few weeks ago with how things were going on top of the Guardian bullshit, which isn’t my way generally, I try and look for positives, although I still maintained that we wait until the window closes to judge.it really feels exciting to be an Addicks fan again. It’s going to be buzzing at spurs tomorrow!!!! And at home on Saturday.

Wasn't Tash fan liaison at the club or some such?

I haven't seen her posting any unsubstantiated rumours over the summer so I figure the info she has must be accurate, and she's doing something with Sky Sports too?
I don't think she's ever worked for the club
Ah fair enough, not sure who I'm thinking of then.

Don't forget though everyone, the owners are just looking to sell and aren't interested in developing us as a club.

They're just doing really really good things for the club, but never forget they don't give a shit.

    Bastards
I don’t think they have to be mutually exclusive.

It’s clear there’s a keenness to sell, but that is not putting a hard stop on funding squad building, which ultimately is probably raising the value the club.
Not sure that is "clear" at all.

They said months ago they were looking to sell a minority stake and they haven't changed their public stance on that. Funny enough Palace and Liverpool have said the same.

We are clearly running at a loss, and a bigger one than I expected if what I was told is the case, but deals are being financed, Jones hasn't walked and we're going for Cat 1 for the academy.

So if we buy JRS for £3.5m up front fee, how much development rebate do we get back?

it will be more then that it will be our biggest transfer

I wonder how Millenic Alli feels about TC signing a new deal and JRS potentially being signed. I can't see him starting many games
Was thinking the same. Was surely signed when we thought TC was off
    Not so sure about that.

More likely, IMHO, that Apter is the one to go. The oracle that is Stjohnshill has said the same.

Alli will still think he's done ok swapping league 1 for the championship.
