On the Kanu situation I'd say this is a much a financial play as footballing. We know right now finding young strikers is like finding hen's teeth and clubs are prepared to pay big money just to not miss out. Highlighted by the Jan interest in Mbick.
IMO given his pace, profile and adaptation to senior football Kanu is significantly ahead of say Kelman at the same age and has a higher upside, I remember him being linked to Arsenal in his youth days. I'd 100% extend and then loan him to L1 next season.
If you sell him this summer you'll get £1m max and maybe 10%-20% sell on. If he scores 15 goals in L1 next season your looking at £3-£5m. Look at Tolaj at Plymouth, 2 seasons ago I was watching him rip it up at Aldershot in the NL, today he's being valued at £5m.
Same with Mbick we could have sold for £3m or in Jan, if he makes an impact next season that's £5-10m.
So it's all about selling at the right time, both need more seasoning to decide if they can cut it with us in the Champ or to maximise their value. Next year will be the time to sell them both even if they don't play a game for us this season.2 -
To add to the above my lad is a GK at Aldershot currently has quite a lot of interest in him. He's on trial at Chelsea and lined up to go into Swindon if that doesn't work out (likely)
A couple of weeks ago Southampton sent a scout down and while he got good feedback personally the coach told me all he wanted to talk about was our number 9. A 6ft 4in 15YO striker who's build like a young AJ.
The feedback was all clubs are desperate to find 9's and left footed defenders. It goes to show at all levels the big clubs are desperate to find the next big striker and will pay good money to do so even if that means stockpiling or9 -
Bet Ronnie’s loving all this attention…😉0

Derby were never actually interested in Carey, what was interesting was Jones saying is if we weren’t promoted he would have likely ended up at Barnsley.RonnieMoore said:ShootersHillGuru said:Pains me to say it but if Derby County want him I can’t see us getting a look in. Blackburn just possibly but definitely Derby.
Why we beat Derby to Carey last summer1 -
Hope Leaburn didn’t get injured 🤣

I admire that you have more inside Charlton knowledge than both Nathan Jones and Richard Cawley put together seriously impressive stuffRonnieMoore said:

It does seem like the vast majority of links (however credible or not) seem to be for defenders. I'm sure that we are looking for improvement all over the pitch but it's a bit curious that we're not linked (yet) with much in the way of attacking additions.0

I know this because Albie Morgan dad was doing some work at my house just after it happened ….. Morgan , Carey and Apter all lived in luxury apartments at Lythan St Annes and were good mates .. ……Crispywood said:
