I wonder how many players greeted him with "what are you doing here?".

Seen a couple people mention on X that we are interested in Freddie Potts. Don’t know how true that is but would definitely be an improvement to our midfield.
I could improve our midfield and I'm 71.
That's the area we must concentrate on.

Stick you in the middle and you could be our Ray Wilkins.
We actually have something in common
Me and Ray Wilkins shagged the same bird.

I thought Chambers did okay and wouldn't mind him back.
I've heard that ship has sailed with Will Ferry.

Yeah, by all accounts we didn’t want to push the boat out on him😬
Surely he's a Ferry, they always come back.

    She was.
Back in the 70's i worked at Cosmos house in Bromley Common.
Most people there were women,  (i enjoyed working there).
Anyway one of the girls done a two page spread for Mayfair magazine.
This was in the days magazines were all you had.
Anyway we had a good time together and then it finished.
She then went out with Ray Wilkins for a couple of months and I met him a few  times.
He was a really good bloke.

    So to get this straight.
You strutted your stuff with this woman, and you went out with them when they were a couple?
    Did you compare notes?
Was she from Switzerland by any chance? B)

He certainly seemed a top bloke.  The outpouring when he died was beyond the love of a decent player.

I don’t think it’s a given that Gillesphey leaves. For him to leave we’d have to be able to sign better than him, and left centre back is notoriously a very difficult position to shop for

Any new player would need pretty much 100% availability too, which again will add more difficulty. Gillesphey is never injured which is what you need if Bell is the other option

I don’t think it’s out of the question that our back 3 options remain exactly as they are now. Which I think is relatively fine, as it’s the rest of the pitch we need more improvement
I think it’s an absolute must that we bring in a new LCB and push the boat out if we have to. I’d go so far as to say it’s probably the biggest upgrade needed. The difference between Bell and Gillesphey was the biggest gap in quality anywhere on the pitch last season we cannot be exposed like that again this season.

That said I’m not sure we’ll get one quickly though. No club will just willingly allow a quality Championship ready LCB leave someone’s first team on the cheap and quickly.

Then how come your board name suggests you are 72? Have you been enhancing your age by one year since puberty to gain access to banned items like smokes, beer, and X movies? You sound shifty to me.

I nearly sold him a bed once. Then he lost patience and asked my manager to find someone more competent to serve him. Cannot say I blame him.

I agree. For the role he plays combined with the other factors you mention, I would keep Gillesphey for sure. He’s a good player IMO

I would hope we get significantly better than Chambers.  He was ok, but higher League One ok imo.
like who ? for what we can probably afford

I know there is still loads of time but I must admit I’m surprised we haven’t announced a couple of moves by now I would think it pretty important to have some new signings go to the pre season camp.
I asked about 20 pages ago would we sign our first player before or after the fixtures were released.

Unless something gets announced before midday tomorrow then the answer is afterwards.

    So i'lI ask another one.............

Before the players go away on July 4th or once they are back  ?

Gillesphey will always be iconic for the playoff final goal but there is absolutely no way we should be going into another championship season with him unless we want relegating. Theres tons of LCB’s in the championship better than Macca and I reckon he’s bottom 5 for LCB’s at this level

That said I’m not sure we’ll get one quickly though. No club will just willingly allow a quality Championship ready LWB leave someone’s first team on the cheap and quickly.
I mean the biggest upgrade needed is quite clearly RWB because we don’t have anyone ready for the championship there. After that it’s central midfield because our starters aren’t good enough

At LCB we have Bell who is very good. Gillesphey was mostly ok and his worst games were all when we didn’t have a proper LWB there. I’d say backup LWB is more important as then you don’t have to use Bell there, he’s then fit more, and you don’t need to use Gillesphey

I’d love us to go out and sign a new young LCB that’s really good and will take over from Bell next year. Realistically though it’s going to be a struggle to find one, and we should be pushing the boat out more for other positions, so it might be that we end up with Bell and Gillesphey again next season and I’d be ok with that providing we strengthen the other areas well enough

Archie Collins, the Peterborough attacking midfielder, is about to be out of contract. Would be a very decent creative midfielder addition.

Potts made 22 Premier league appearances for West Ham last season and the year before he played 37 games for Portsmouth at this level.

Now they're in the Championship i'd have thought he was exactly the type of player they'd keep. He'll probably be starting for them most weeks.
