Limiting Campbell’s contribution to just goals and assists is a huge lack of understanding of what he brings to the teamElfsborgAddick said:
Campbell is no Ryan Giggs.NabySarr said:
You said so you’d rather let a player go for nothing than get a fee for him? And commented that you hope I don’t own a businessElfsborgAddick said:NabySarr said:
So would you sell Lloyd Jones as well? He’s entering the last year of his contract. Football clubs aren’t the same as businesses.ElfsborgAddick said:NabySarr said:
I think we definitely would get that. If we’re getting no where near £2m then I’d just keep him even if he’s leaves on a free. Not worth losing him unless it’s a decent feeElfsborgAddick said:NabySarr said:
And it’s my opinion that it would be stupid to want him to leave. Not sure why any Charlton fan would want a young player with potential to leave the club?blackpool72 said:
If Sheffield United have just received 9 million for their player and we get an offer of say 2 million for Campbell is believe we should take it.NabySarr said:
Ah yes, the great idea of a team that struggles to create any chances selling their only player that creates chances from open play. Thankfully Nathan Jones isn’t that stupid and will be desperately trying to persuade TC to commit his future here, hopefully he manages tooblackpool72 said:

No need to get your nickers in a twist because someone has a different opinion. If he doesn’t sign a new contract then fair enough we will need to sell. Though £2m would be a poor deal if that’s the case
I doubt we would get anywhere near that.
So you would rather let a player go for nothing rather than receive some money. I hope you don't own a business.Would you have sold Aribo and Bauer at the start of the 2018/19 season too?
If we aren’t getting decent bids for Jones, TC and Ramsay then we might as well keep them because getting relegated will cost a lot more than those small bids. Not sure if he’s too old yet but we might even get some money for TC next summer anywayWhat has this got to do with the comment I replied to? Which was talking about the sale of one player, Campbell.
Football isn’t a normal business. There are plenty of examples where keeping the player is worth more than a small transfer fee. As I said if we can’t get a good fee then there is no point selling, we need to stay up and a small transfer fee isn’t going to help as much as TC is. If it was only £2m you aren’t replacing him with that
3 goals and 2 assists last season is not good enough. We can get better.
If you want to buy a player that does what Campbell does, and also has better end product, you’d need £10m. Andre Brooks (the player that started this conversation) is a similar player to Campbell, 6 goals and 2 assists last season and the same age and he’s just gone for that kind of money. Campbell actually starts over him for Jamaica
Campbell has incredibly rare physical attributes that teams will pay a lot of money for. He’d also be very difficult to replace, let alone upgrade on. If we keep developing him and he starts to return even slightly better numbers, he’s a £10m player if we have him on a decent contract. Fans wanting him to leave are very badly wrong. We need him on a new contract and £2m would be a very poor bit of business. We should be pushing the boat out hugely to keep him, because as that Brooks deal shows, he can be worth a lot of money if we can improve his numbers even slightly

Anderson to Blackpool with a significant sellon wouldn't surprise me. I know NJ loves him but I think he's a bit too limited on the ball as it stands. If we're going to upgrade on Doc I don't see where Karoy gets game time.18
-
If we got TC on a new contract and let’s say he scored 5+ goals and got 5+ assists next season, not even a massive improvement given he didn’t really get going last season for awhile in terms of numbers. He’d be worth £10m in today’s market as that Brooks deal has shown. The club should be doing all they can to keep him, which as I said earlier, Jones is no mug so will definitely be doing all he can

Christ, have an ice cream, chill, watch the world cup4

Already have Coventry, Doc, JRC, Carey, Knibbs, Fullah someone needs to go to make room for more Anderson could be a good championship player in the future but can’t continuously wait 3 years for that to happen. Whilst we’re not a stable championship team we need to do much more now to get there.4

In the video showing the players reporting back for pre season I thought Karoy had a miserable facial expression, especially when compared to Kanu.fenaddick said:
It is irksome to me that Anderson might go, yet Apter and JRC might stay.
Having watched Karoy come through, and being quite biased in favour of our graduates (who isn’t liking watching Konsa in the World Cup?), it would be a shame for me if Karoy followed Morgan to Blackpool.
However just as I still wish Albie all the best, the same goes for Karoy Anderson. Whatever happens I sincerely wish him to have a good career as a pro footballer.8 -
I like Anderson as a person and he has done a reasonably good job for us. His closing down and energy is second to none.
But that alone doesn't make a Championship player. And I can never see him as a Championship quality player because his passing is so limited.
If we can get a decent fee, plus a sell-on, it would be good business to let him go with our best wishes.7 -
Never like seeing the academy players leave, but I think it’ll be best for Anderson as a player to be a regular League One starter. If he can tidy up his passing then he absolutely becomes a Championship player in the future. For that reason a good sell on its important.Wish him the very best if he does go.10

I’d loan Karoy to league 1 and then take a view next summer whether to sell or give him a chance
He’s still not played a full season as a first team regular, doing that will be what develops him most and he’s not had that chance yet. Let him go and play 40 games on loan for Blackpool and then judge him next summer. Docherty’s contract will be up then so there could be a spot open as that ball winning, out of possession monster midfielder that we will still need in the squad. If Karoy can develop on the ball next season he can end up a better player than Docherty and be an upgrade8 -

We are not in a position to stockpile young players on the hope they become good enough. For that reason i'd 100% sell Karoy and as others have said, put a hefty sell-on fee in there.17

I think it would be best for us and Karoy if a deal could be agreed with Blackpool. I have watched him since the U18s and a like him. But is he good enough to be a regular starter in the Championship? No I don’t think he is.4
-
I get what you are saying but there's also the need for the club to raise some funds to help pay for the new signings we hope are coming. Unless we sell some of our "stars" , there aren't too many people on our books who are going to go for much.NabySarr said:I’d loan Karoy to league 1 and then take a view next summer whether to sell or give him a chance

I think we have seen enough of Anderson now to know that his "on the ball" skills are never going to be a strong point. So let's just let him move on now for a decent fee.4 -
Why not? He’s good enough for us to get a league 1 team to cover his wage for the season, because he won’t be a high earner anyway. It would cost us nothing if we wanted to let him have another loan and then judge next seasonPelling1993 said:We are not in a position to stockpile young players on the hope they become good enough. If we think he could maybe become a championship player after another year on loan then we should keep him6 -
This is the issue. We can’t hoard onto our academy players forever. There are so many in there that are not going to make the impact for us over the next season/two seasons.
If there is the chance to move Karoy on plus a sell on or buy back clause, then we should definitely take it.

Karoy has played 80 times in league one and with the exception of the last four weeks of last season with Blackpool has been pretty poor at the league one level. I could understand your point if we were seeing his ball control/ passing slowly improving because he does have the physical attributes but he hasn’t improved in his biggest area of weakness over the last three years which makes me feel that maybe he has reached his ceiling as a league one role player. That being said, Blackpool won’t be paying much for him so not sure if being sold for let’s say 200k really helps out that much2

Karoy isn't Championship standard, get a decent fee and let him go. Him staying won't do him any good either.6
-
I love Anderson but I’d be happy to let him go and flourish. NJ rates Mwamba who is a similar type of player and we don’t want to block his pathway, Gough is also naturally a midfielder. It’s all well and good giving Anderson another year on loan but then we’d be in the position we are with Kanu where are our options are limited due to contract length. Get a decent sell on in there and hopefully let him succeed with regular minutes and a new regular home4

You say this but he could fit in nicely at Lincoln or Bolton.RonnieMoore said:0 -

Anderson can be a Championship player in the same way Pratley and Docherty were/are, but the other side of it is we can’t loan him out for a few seasons to see if he gets there, he’s 22 later this year.
Probably one I’d lean towards selling if we can get a decent fee, as that can go towards the type of CM we need this season. Comes down to what Blackpool or any other clubs offer for me to make the gamble of letting him go worth it.
We’re not going to get a few million, but selling him for a few hundred thousand wouldn’t a good deal either.5 -
The question we have to ask as well, is Anderson at 21 now, better than Mwamba will be in 2 years time? Because he's probably next in the "pipeline" and from what I've seen of Mwamba, his passing range is significantly better than Anderson's, and still has time to grow and fill out1
-
If we want to buy a good championship midfielder then selling Anderson will hardly make a dent in that feeFortune 82nd Minute said:

So let's just let him move on now for a decent fee.On the ball doesn’t have to be his strong point, look at Docherty. He just needs it to be less bad, which is pretty achievable. We’ve seen a fair bit of Anderson, but we’ve never seen him play a full season as a first team regular, and that will bring him on more than any time on the training ground or as a squad player with us will have done4 -
Personally I’d much rather have Mwamba over Karoy. Mwamba looks a real talent. Thats nothing on Karoy though, he works very hard but just doesn’t have the capability in the technical aspect of the game.1
-
Wasn’t Mwamba wanted by Colchester on loan last season?1
-
Would expect Mwamba to go out on loan anyway , probably to Colchester with the Cowley's as they wanted to do in Jan. But I agree he's got a very bright future if he continues to develop.
Makes me wonder also if JRC has any real future at the club or if he'll be moved on too.0 -
Yes, I’d expect him to go there but the squad planning has to look beyond one seasonCharlton43 said:Wasn’t Mwamba wanted by Colchester on loan last season?0 -
Can't see Burke or JRC leavingjose said:Personally the first news I would like to hear about is news of:
Ahadme
Olafe
Apter
A Mitchell
JRC
Burke
If we get to a leaner and fitter more appropriate squad, then we create the space for signings, or for players coming through.
I would also, at long last, like us to get the Gomez bonus.0 -
Small fee for KA.0

Midfield is going to be the key - think you probably need at least 2 midfielders in the building , one holder to compete with Coventry and then an upgrade on Doc with a bit more quality on the ball. I'm not sure JRC will be here either.
Where do people ultimately see Fullah fitting in with Knibbs now back fit? Obviously he's got huge potential but do we look at a top end of League 1 loan for him and just get a season of senior football playing every week into him?2
