I thought we would need: lcb, lb,2 rb, 2 midfielders and a striker. That's 7 and we've got the first 2 in. Who knows but that's what I'm hoping for.5
-
He mentioned Mesik and Billy K by name, then said we need 5 to 7 so it sounds like in addition to them to me.Athletico Charlton said:So for those that have listened to the interview are the 7 new players from now or do they include the two recent signings?4 -
I asked ChatGPT, here's some names to entertain ourselves with until the next rumour or announcement.Redvaliant said:Mystic Meg told me we are looking to sign a French RWB from Ligue 2. No name or club though.🥇 Top-tier targets (best mix of age + upside + fit)
Ange-Loïc N’Gatta (Grenoble) – 22
Explosive, modern wing-back who loves driving forward with the ball and overlapping constantly. Defensively still raw but high upside.
Youssouf Assogba (Troyes) – 24
Very athletic and aggressive defender who plays like a traditional modern wing-back: fast recovery runs, lots of pressing, direct in transition.
Marvin Senaya (Saint-Étienne) – 24
Technically polished full-back who is comfortable in possession and can step into midfield areas; more controlled than chaotic.
🟡 Strong Championship-ready options (more polished / safer picks)
Thibault Vargas (Laval) – 26
Reliable, consistent runner with good crossing delivery. Not flashy but very solid week-to-week Championship profile.
Allan Linguet (Dunkerque) – 26
High-energy, aggressive defender who thrives in duels and transitions. Very suited to pressing systems.
Hugo Vandermersch (Guingamp) – 26
Balanced full-back: solid defensively, decent going forward, tactically disciplined.
🟠 Converted / hybrid wide players (important for modern RWB systems)
These are the “Nathan Jones-style” wing-back profiles — often better value:
Killian Corredor (Rodez) – 24
Naturally more attacking, likes drifting inside and combining. Can be used as a wide wing-back in a 3-4-3.
Lamine Fomba (various roles, often wide/box-to-box usage) – 26
Midfielder who has been used in wide roles at times; brings ball-carrying and physicality.
Junior Diaz (Troyes) – 23
Comfortable stepping into wide defensive roles, very athletic, still developing tactically.
🟢 Lower-cost “Moneyball” depth options
Alpha Sissoko (Bastia) – 26
Defensive-first, aggressive tackler. Limited attacking output but useful if you want balance.
Clément Billemaz (Annecy) – 26
Versatile wide player who can operate as wing-back in systems with heavy attacking responsibility.

Think it depends on when this interview with Charlotte was done , I do expect it to be 7 with the 2 new signings but I'd love to be wrong.4

Overall, I'm quietly satisfied with everything we have done up to now. There seems to be a calm, rational, common sense approach to both the signings and the outgoings. I especially like what they've done with Gassan. It's not just a smart commercial move, but also feels like a genuine attempt to consider the player's welfare. I think something's up with him, and they found probably the best place with the best manager to help him rediscover his mojo.

If they are the right players, I am fine with that.
5 more would be 2 RWB options (more attacking to balance out Edwards, Mesik on the left.
2 CMs (pushing Doc and CC to back up)

Excited to hear NJ target getting quality in the final third in the building. Suggests we'll be definitely getting the much needed competition for TC.

Great interview and love the guy. Cant wait for the season to start and it will be an uphill struggle but each season NJ been here I feel more and more positive and it’s the best place we’ve been in for fucking donkeys yearschev said:15 -
Very excited for the new season, great interview as always with Jones.chev said:
Again, surprised he done an interview after storming out a meeting with the owners. Was expecting to see Bowyer or Parker. If anyone wants some Thursday evening entertainment before the Spain game kicks off, take a look at Reams’ comments on the interview.1 -

Nathan is clearly under no illusions of "well we stayed up, mission accomplished" - we need to go up another level but he's absolutely not resting on his laurels there.Kinsella87 said:

Novelty of a new signing. We see the same thing every transfer window - a lot of the players that people were getting similarly excited about last summer are now the ones we’re hoping this summer’s signings will replace.Covered End said:The majority seem to be pleased with our 2 new signings.
I’ll be honest in that I’d never heard of either and didn’t know most of our fans watched so many Dundee and Heracles games last season.
Heres hoping.
I don’t begrudge people riding the wave of optimism. It’s better for your mental health than being a miserable pessimist.Truth is, though, we’ll find out if they’re good signings after they’ve played for us. You’ve been around long enough (like me) to have seen plenty of dead cert good signings turn into flops here and vice versa. There’s just too many variables at play - will they settle in London, will they get on with NJ, do they still have the hunger they once had, will they suffer some unexpected misfortune on their personal life, will they get clobber by a late tackle 10 minutes into their debut, etc., - for us to know either way. What I would say, is I have as much confidence as I’ve had for a long while that the club is going about scouting and recruiting in a structured and professional manner, we’re more attractive now as a continuing Championship team, and we have a manager with a clear playing identity, knows what he wants, and will fight to get it. We’re probably as likely to make success of recruitment this summer as we’ve been for quite some time.3 -
Did I mishear or does NJ say "we've managed to secure the future of important players" at 3:50 in that interview. Suggests more than just Godden have signed extensions7

Just imagine the kind of randoms we’d have signed if old Tommy Driesen had access to AI!Scoham said:

French RWB playing in ligue 2, Nolan Galves? Can't be him, he's rumoured to be joining Millwall, but also linked with QPR.0
-
Wonder if we are still in for him
Rubén Sánchez
