Tick tock. We currently can't put out a first 11 that is anywhere near as good as the one that narrowly avoided relegation at the end of last season. Coady, Clarke and Dykes have gone and not yet been replaced. They had better get a move on.
    Kaminski
    Ramsay Jones Bell Mesík
    Knibbs Coventry
    Leaburn Carey Campbell
    Kelman

I'd argue isn't any worse than

    Kaminski
    Burke Jones Gillesphey
    Fevrier Clarke Coady Coventry Chambers
    Knibbs
    Dykes

Which is the team we put out against Swansea...
Leaburn on the wing is diabolical

    Will he stay?
He probably will stay, his value to us is far more than what other teams would value him. He has no resell value, no glamour career and wouldn’t be as good in modern sides who play out from the back.

I’m in the staying patient camp, I’m sure NJ and the club are not saying behind the scenes.. fuck it let’s stick with what we’ve got and hope for the best, they know what is needed and trust they are doing the best they can to get a competitive squad together. There is no value in the investors not backing NJ as much as they can, unless they want to lose NJ or want out, haven’t seen anything to suggest they want either. The consortium NEEDS to be successful to make it worth being involved, they saw for themselves how difficult the championship is last season, so I’m patiently waiting to see what is done.

It's not just him.  Key players whose contracts expire in 12 months....

    Jones
    Campbell
    Ramsay
    Coventry

You can add Kanu, Doc, Bell, Alex Mitchell to that list too; albeit Kanu and Mitchell seem pretty likely to be sold.

Yeah, I'd love to have brought in major upgrades by now, but would I rather bring in 5 players we can definitely get right now, or start the season with what we have, but bring in 5 quality players before the deadline? I think the latter, even though its not ideal to have them miss out on pre season. The signings that we made later last year will have pre season this time around snd so we should see improvements in fitness and integration. All about making those marginal improvements that see our squad pushing a bit higher each time.

Leaburn playing right wing will have his hamstrings screaming at the very thought.

But i agree we are not a million miles away.

Personally think Koumetio would start if there were a game tomorow:

    Kaminski
    Ramsay Jones Koumetio Mesík
    Doc Coventry
    Campbell Knibbs Carey
    Kelman / Leaburn

Or think that the price of someone who plays in that position is out of our reach, and/or not worth paying.
    You are far too sensible

Nathan jones was in pope st watching the England game last night sat right next to us.

Tight lipped on transfers and did not cheer either England’s or Argentina goals.

For a passionate man, he was very unanimated in an animated room, but suppose he is Welsh.  Was with Curtis too.

Leaburn on the wing and Knibbs next to Coventry! That’s definitely worse

Our best team at the moment is

                      Kaminski
             Ramsay Jones Bell
    Apter Docherty Coventry Mesik
                        Carey
              Kelman  Campbell

Which is pretty much the exact team we started last season with against Watford
It was only Dartford, but it's the middle 3 we played against them in the PSF.

And Leaburn on the wing is where he played a lot of his under 21 football, it's not the worst idea in the world

A winger needs pace or trickery or a good crosser or all three. So what part of Leaburn’s game suits this position?

Pace and trickery is what he used when he was in the under 21s. He's also a mismatch at the back post when then being marked by a fullback, which helped him score a lot of goals at that level

We’ll know we’re close to a signing when Jones tells us he’s back sleeping at the training ground

They're putting together quite the squad for that level. I know they had to basically start from scratch but a few very very impressive signings for that level.

Leicester and shef Wednesday going down probably was the worst thing for us. They will be two of the teams we are fighting with for players.

Mitchell has had a load of interest from the championship mainly Watford and Birmingham so if he ends up at Sheff Weds it will be for the pay day. Shame he would have been perfect for us.

Mitchell is very injury prone, not sure he’s what we need.

As it stands I assume what we have at the moment is what we start the season with.
I am glad that Daniel Kanu is staying.
Also personally glad other academy graduates (though not Zach Mitchell) are staying, as that situation justifies having an academy in the first place.
Maybe I am alone in not spending the summer yearning, despite the club being owned by something like a consortium of a dozen multi billionaires.

True rumours thread one post after each other😀, but at least I suppose one of you will be correct
