Not saying we should be after him, but if there isn’t much interest, his wages won’t be ridiculous, he can demand whatever he likes, don’t mean clubs are going to pay it, especially If he’s not been setting the world alight.MarcusH26 said:Just can't see Aribo being a viable target , wages will be ridiculous and he wasn't great at Leicester.1 -
Totally agree with this.TelMc32 said:I think Jones is talking up Mwamba in the same way that he did with Fullah. Both definitely have promise but we saw with Fullah that, bar a few great touches, he struggled to make an impact. Hopefully they both continue their progression and come through, but we definitely need to spend on established quality in the midfield if we are to evolve the way Jones wants us to.0 -
Depends what he values most. Pretty sure he could go to Turkey on fairly large wages if he wanted toSword65pf said:

Just feels like a player that's on a downward trajectory career wise , either ends up in Turkey or somewhere like that or takes a huge paycut to go back to Rangers.Sword65pf said:

No I haven't, because Rudders didn't mention versatility, he mentioned him as a right winger and I pointed out he's not one.Redguy12 said:
I think you have missed the world versatility. He's best position is as no8 but lacks the ball progression for me to be the answers to solve the main problem we have in that position. As versatile option I would take him but that all.sam3110 said:
We don't need square pegs in round holes. Also Aribo has never been blessed with a tonne of pace and being a number 10 shoehorned onto the wing in a farmers league isn't the same thing as a less motivated, slower 29 year old Aribo playing right wing all season in one of the most demanding leagues in world footballRedguy12 said:sam3110 said:
Over 200 games centrally, about 50 on the right.Redguy12 said:
He's an attacking midfielder, he's not a winger, and never has been.
Bellingham played up top for one season for Real Madrid, he's still not a striker
The point is he can play on the winger and offers versatility. You saying he never has been makes no sense because he was effective in that position witch is the most important thing.sam3110 said:

My point has been exactly the same throughout, he's not a right winger so it's pointless signing him as one0 -
It’s a midfield playmaker we need. I don’t see Aribo as that. No from me.4
-
I hope we don't , hasn't done anything since he left Rangers.Rudders22 said:I wonder if we now go for Aribo for the right wing. I hope we do. It makes sense too.2 -
Still think we need 2 CM's, a replacement for Dykes and 2 RWB's.12

Aribo is another player with unfinished business at the club. I don't think he's an unrealistic target and if Nathan Jones is having to work with one hand tied behind his back financially, I'd have no problem seeing him return. We need players with proven Championship experience and a move back home could be exactly what he needs to rediscover his best form.

I still think we’ll get these and departures will see incomings increase. Of course, we need quality and not just bodies or next season will be a challenge.cantersaddick said:Still think we need 2 CM's, a replacement for Dykes and 2 RWB's.3 -
I don’t think we’re getting 2 rwbs if we are moving to a back 4. Just need one RB with Kayne as backupcantersaddick said:Still think we need 2 CM's, a replacement for Dykes and 2 RWB's.0 -
What is the fascination with bringing old players back?!

Hasselbaink arrived with a big arse, he was awful. Jaiyesimi or Mansfield as he was popularly known, also had an extremely fat arse and was also poor. Take a look at Aribo, he’s also got a big bum and in my opinion, is absolutely on the wrong end of the rump scale to be effective

Knibbs is not injured now and has made zero impact in three friendliescabbles said:
Jury still out on Knibbs for me given his campaign was hit by injuries, but he needs a big season.Southbank said:
Knibbs is definitely not up to it and Carey was not second half of last season. I would rather neither were in the first 11.cabbles said:Not sure about Redmond. I might be incorrect in where he’s likely to play, but I always thought of him as an attacking midfielder and taking the game to opponents. If we get him in, I feel like we’re not going to bother with anyone else and for me, along with more a pacey brick shithouse and rwbs, this is a key position
Carey and Knibbs I see as the goal scoring midfielders, but unless we get a pacey/attacking RWB, TC is still the only player we have that can take on players and run at them, plus Redmond. We need stronger in this position imoCarey, his goals were priceless, but I agree with you re: 2nd half of the season. Looked very much like a passenger9 -
Friendlies mean very little. About minutes and fitness. Nothing more.Southbank said:

With fullah, gets talked up a lot all the time, i cant put my finger on it but just havent seen anything much, maybe one glimpse. Maybe needs a loan.Sword65pf said:

Looks to me that our starting formation will be a 4231/433 this season, happy with this as gives us an extra attacking player, also means we probably only need a new RB as competition to Ramsey rather than two new RWBs if we were continuing with a back 5. Hope we spend the budget on a decent ball playing midfielder to play in the 8 next to Cov.2

I'm not 100% sure we are moving to a back 4. I suspect its been worked on as an alternative system plus is convienient for now in pre season to get minutes into players based on the players we have at the club right now. I still think come the season starting we will be in a back 5.Chawlton said:

Not sure that’s totally true. You’d hope he’d have a point to prove after last season’s debacle .ShootersHillGuru said:

If this is the case, as it looks, I definitely think Apter is worth keeping to prove himself again. In my opinion, he suits that system far more.Covered_End_Lad said:Looks to me that our starting formation will be a 4231/433 this season, happy with this as gives us an extra attacking player, also means we probably only need a new RB as competition to Ramsey rather than two new RWBs if we were continuing with a back 5. Knibbs was the biggest disappointment last season for me.
Not because he was bad but because injuries meant he never had a long run in the team and rarely started.
He had stood out for me at Reading so was hoping for more but he didn't get the chance to show his ability.
Fingers crossed this year he can.13 -

I think he got injured in pre-season at Reading so wasn't involved in their training much and came here trying to catch up and then a horror tackle injures him and basically ruins his season, really hoping we see a step up from him as he's been back it for a few months now, whilst he hasnt stood out at all in a Charlton shirt so far, I think he's got real potential to surprise a lot of our fans this season3 -

Yes feel the same with knibbs, I expected more from him all round, I thought he was more of a ball player than we’ve seen, obviously has an eye for goal but other than that it was more industry than finesse, which applies to the majority of our midfielders.hope it’s because of the disruption last season. Big start to the season for him I think.Henry Irving said:

I think our fans can be a bit too quick to want to thrust our young players into the 1st team when they are not ready, both these boys have real potential but if we are relying on them right now, we are in trouble. By all means ease them in.2121 said:
