Lankshear to Middlesbrough, 10m fee with a further 10m in potential add ons.
Scary fee but shows why we're probably shopping abroad.

    Ridiculous amount
    Why?

He scored 10+ goals in a shit Oxford side. He’s only 21 years old and has potential to be worth 2-3x that.

It’s what you pay for top quality players in this league.

But again this is partly why central midfield issue remains an issue. We've got people on here who are carping about money "wasted" on the likes of Apter, Olaofe etc, but if we assume that 10 million IS the going rate for what we need, thats about 4 or 5 times as much - so we need to be very, very sure indeed that we're spending it on GUARANTEED sucess.

Ask yourself this, if they were signing him from Oxford and not Spurs, would they have paid that fee?

Well obviously not because Oxford are struggling at the moment so would have accepted much less money. Spurs don’t need to sell, could easily have loaned him out again, seen him score more in the championship and then cashed in

Any player scoring double figures goals in the championship is worth a decent fee, add that it was for Oxford and he’s only 21 and it’s not that surprising he’s fetching £10m+. League 1 goalscorers are fetching £3.5-£5m based on the last couple of windows, championship goalscorers are going to be a decent step up from that.

That’s why we spent so much on Kelman, if can turn him into a regular 10-15 goal a season championship striker then we will make a good profit

    So they've overpaid

Like I said, a potential £20m fee is a ridiculous amount

Very unlikely it actually is £20m though unless he fires them to promotion, then safety and gets an England call up probably. If he gets Boro promoted it will be worth it for them

Compare it to the Stansfield deal and I think Boro’s is a much better deal. Maybe they’ve slightly overpaid if you include add ons but I really don’t think £10m+ for a 21 year old championship goalscorer is that crazy when older league 1 goalscorers are going for half of that this window

If it reaches the £20m it’ll be because he’s been a success, probably helped them get promoted and scored lots of goals. If he doesn’t do those things then the £10m is ridiculous

The best idea is to spot these lads before they go on loan to the likes of Oxford and become £10m players.

Another bit of info but I'm really getting tired of this one.

    Sounds like a messy situation.

Supposedly the deal for Mitchell was agreed in principle between us and Charlton. Mitchell was due to travel down Monday for medical/sign off etc.

Mitchell wasn't even in the Charlton squad for their match

    Saturday I'm told.

Supposedly Charlton have heard about the Tolaj money and have started trying to add some ridiculous clauses to the deal. Fee supposedly around 600k but they wanted more.

Mitchell fuming. Plymouth fuming. Proper vile behaviour from Charlton that and I hope he throws his toys out the pram.

Sorry, but that does change the complexion of the deal, Plymouth would've done the same thing.

Thing is, the whole world knew Tolaj was leaving for a decent fee this summer. That poster is acting as if that's been hidden the last 2 months, or Charlton are stupid enough to have only just realised they've come into a bit of money. If we were clever enough we would've been baking that into any fee we were asking for from the beginning of the summer.

10+ was actually 11, in 44 games, 4 assists. Doesn’t make what we paid for Kelman too bad now does it? Considering we didn’t set the world alight as an attacking force🤷🏻‍♂️
