£3m ish feels completely a type of number that's achievable for us though. Would have thought Estoril would have wanted more like £5-8m.0

Not his fault. In fact it’s not anyone’s fault if the owners won’t put the money in. With the current rules there is scope there to put the kind of money in to sort our midfield.SouthLincsAddick said:
I’ll pass that onto NJ, what if he says he can’t afford it?DamoNorthStand said:

Honestly I’ll settle for option 10 at this point wherever it takes to do something to that midfieldAberystwythAddick said:It’s obviously not going to be Holsgrove, let’s hope that options 2 and 3 are more willing and available0 -
@stjohnshill was Alli the “central position of need” you alluded to earlier in the week?P.s Appreciate all your updates this summer so, thank you for them2

I wouldn't mind hearing some positive news about our injured players.3

I think it was mainly Karl Robinson who was bigging up Ben Reeves.gilbertfilbert said:
I was thinking Kirk, Ben Reeves, McGrandles… And so on.
Charlie Kirk was indeed eagerly anticipated. Was he the biggest let-down in our club's history?
McGrandles has largely fulfilled expectations, just not with us.1 -

You'll regret those words after the opening game mate.

Dobson is not what we need. He was not a creative midfield player.7

If he doesn’t sign before the start of the season, sell him now. His agent has very possibly been touting him around so his head may not be in the right place between now and Christmas.Swisdom said:My thoughts on Ramsay are we’ve got six months to get him signed a contract or he’s off for free next summer and will start talking to clubs after Christmas0 -

He isn’t but he would absolutely walk into this side though.rememberbillybonds said:Dobson is not what we need. He was not a creative midfield player.29 -
I still think it’s unlikely that we sign a creative midfielder. We just need midfielders that are better on the ball so that our attacking players get it more often to create and score. Dobson would fit that and crucially is good without the ballrememberbillybonds said:Dobson is not what we need. He was not a creative midfield player.
We just aren’t going to find a creative midfielder that is also good enough out of possession on our budget I don’t think

This is a key point , there's plenty of creative midfielders out there but a good chunk of them will be a complete luxury out of possession and we won't even consider one that won't do the off the ball work too.NabySarr said:

Far more likely it's a Cov upgrade with more physicality and the ability to play forward and then a Doc replacement with a similar workrate but a lot more quality on the ball.1 -
I don't think we'll be seeing a creative midfielder in the sense of someone who puts their foot on the ball and pings passes around - that wouldn't fit with Jonesball, even the 'improved' version.NabySarr said:

If we got someone who can sit like Coventry but actually be a bit progressive with passing forwards I actually think we could away with Docherty as a water carrier/midfield nuisance type if we absolutely had to. But ideally both need upgrading.0 -
The De Keersmacker level of player that can do it all is going to be out of our budget. We aren’t good enough to sacrifice the out of possession side of the game so any new midfielder is going to have to be good at thatMarcusH26 said:

We will create chances in the same way we always have under Jones:
Getting wide players 1v1 - we should be able to do this much better now as we will go back to having one on each flank line we did with Small and TC in league 1. That’s where we need midfielders better on the ball so we can move it quicker from flank to flank to isolate our wingers against their full backs in 1v1s. Cov and Doc move the ball too slowly
High press - winning the ball back and creating chances on the turnover. Again I think we are in a better place to do this with much more pace in the team to take advantage of counter attacks/transitions
Set pieces - always going to be very important, slightly worried we don’t have a good enough taker so hopefully one of the new midfielders has a good dead ball delivery6 -

That's funny because literally 2 days ago Fleming said they are waiting for the initial pain etc to settle down before they decide what to doDennisBooth said:

Which was a surprising comment, as that was a week after the initial injury. Surely you don't wait that long before deciding what to do?sam3110 said:

Jones has game starters and game finishers.Gisappointed said:We have a guaranteed starting winger TC, now have Grant, Alli and Apter; of whom two won't start. Three tend to be on left. Buy starters ffs.
Yet we have a weaker midfield which was already poor, Coadyless, and no money spent in our most vulnerable area. Speechless!!!
He keeps the back line intact, if he can but upfield players are changed according to the gameplan or tactical changes.
The pre-match instructions may be for certain starting players to play 60 minutes with intensity, before being replaced with 'fresh legs' game finishers or game changers of equal quality.
It's a squad game and 5 subs will be used most games - and next game some players rotated accordingly.
The concept of always starting with your best players, has gone the way of the Dodo. Keep up
