Can't imagine we'd sell him if he had any interest in renewing so best to get money now if it can be used to get in a RW and a CM
Whilst he was shifted around positionally and always in the squad, 5 goal contributions in 45 games from somebody who was our main man is replaceable and I feel we've done so already with Karlan Grant
Think it's the right move for all involved, other than the fact TC has to live in or near Preston1 -

If it’s a squad of 25, 2 natural players per position than the last 3 go to a 3rd choice keeper, a defender and a forward probably makes the most senseMarcusH26 said:

With Bell seemingly viewed as a FB/CB option it does give us a lot of opportunity to freshen up the attack1 -
If TC wants to leave then sell him, no point having a non interested hit and miss player anyway. He should commit and sign a deal with a sell on clause and prove he wants to be with us or just go as soon as possible so we can get our team sorted. Can’t have players holding us to ransom and not giving they’re all for the club.5

Preston have linked with a number of wingers this summer, including Oxford United's Stanley Mills and Crystal Palace's Romain Esse, but it appears they have now turned their attention to Charlton Athletic's Tyreece Campbell.
After coming through the Addicks' academy, Campbell has established himself as a key part of the senior squad at The Valley in recent years, and he was part of the team that won promotion from League One via the play-offs in the 2024-25 season.
Campbell has scored 18 goals and provided 13 assists in 170 games for Charlton so far, including netting three times and registering three assists in 46 appearances last season to help Nathan Jones' men avoid relegation from the Championship

One of the games towards the end of last year, maybe Bristol City TC was ironically cheered as he was subbed off from a good chunk of the north upper, I think stuff like that can be remembered by players4

It does make sense and matches our break down which currently this (assuming a few outgoing like Asiimwe, Tanto etc and not counting U21). We'd have space for one more player without a surprising outgoingCrispywood said:

I actually don’t think TC has a terrible attitude but I think his poor body language impacts some people’s opinions of him. NJ mentioned his body language not being great at one point last season and suggested he’d talk to him about it. It’s something I’ve had to do with many young people over the years as body language can sadly give a false impression.7

Yeah he's just shy and often shattered because he runs so much. He has a chant (completely inaccurate btw, rarely scores) that gets sung at least twice a game. All the people that do have a go at him he probably can't hear in a packed stadium.
TC frustrates fans, but that happens at every club. We as a fan base generally give players an easy ride, it takes a lot for us to completely have a pop at someone.
Be annoyed if he goes, as I don't believe we can adequately replace him, but from his point of view the move might be at the right time. He plays in a team that nullifies his strengths, he may get more attacking freedom at Preston, then it's up to him to improve individually. I feel here he has too many defensive duties at times and has been overplayed.
Yes I have heard people say to me they think TC is lazy, frustrating (I have said I find him frustrating loads) and I have heard people outloud moan when TC misplaces a cross or whiffs a shot etc. I have never witnessed a person say something so obvious he directly hears it though.
I have met TC a handful of times, and the lad is never upbeat. You compare him to our other academy lads like Kanu and Anderson (of course now ex) and they're nothing alike. I have always found Miles and TC to be a bit reserved and not look motivated, but that is their personality type.
Can genuinely say I have never heard or seen anything where I have thought "TC will hear/see that and it's going to impact him". If we are talking social media, he will have to log off or avoid it, as that only gets worse the higher he goes.
I think TC has been far more backed by us as fans than heckled. Vocal minority having a lot of influence here imo.I can’t remember the last time a individual Charlton player received that kind of treatment from fans in the middle of a home game at the stadium4 -

I used to get grief for my body language when I played as a kid despite being a player of the low talent hard working variety. I worked my socks off all game but in the in-between bits when I wasn't on the ball or chasing it apparently I didn't look interested. Couldn't have been further from the truth but I didn't really know how to stop looking that way because as far as I was concerned I was just existing and I had quite a lot of other football-related stuff to be thinking about ahead of that. In the end I realised that it wasn't something worth distracting myself over and then mercifully my football career never took off so it didn't become a message board problem for me. I think it's unfortunate for TC that his obvious shyness comes out on the pitch in his body language but I also can't see that massively changing given how much other stuff he's got to focus on in a professional football matchmart77 said:I actually don’t think TC has a terrible attitude but I think his poor body language impacts some people’s opinions of him. If TCs agent has TCs best interest at heart, he shouldn't be advising him to take the Preston deal if he's had Premier League interest in the past. Would be a bad move for him.Swisdom said:Before promotion we had an offer of a couple of million on the table for TC

But the fact remains remains he is our most saleable asset and is our “out ball” and very hard to replace. The abuse from the fanbase is ridiculous and, if he goes, I wish him all the best. His body language doesn’t help but he was integral to our promotion year and deserved more than the abuse he got when double marked in a ridiculously hard division as a young player.The offer on the table was from premier league side Leeds so they obviously saw something there2 -

It has always puzzled me why some Charlton players get abuse. It is not a new thing. I remember the days when Keith Peacock used to get unrelenting abuse from someone who stood between the west stand and the Covered end. Hit him with your handbag Peacock.I don’t shout abuse at any Charlton players. I reserve my abuse for the Lino and referee.6

Everyone is assuming that TC wants out because some of our less desirable fans..... Clubs are allowed to make inquiries and offers for players under contract Preston have likely done just that and are in panic mode due to off field issues. There is nothing to suggest he wants a move or is pushing for one.TC hasn't signed a new deal as yet, he may do - or he may not. That's his prerogative, but one thing is guaranteed in football, and certainly as a winger who blows hot and cold - you are going to have idiot fans giving you grief whether its London or the Lancashire. If he is dragging on signing a deal then that's where a club has to be 'ruthless' and say either sign or we'll cash in, your move.He's got a manager who believes in him, living near family and playing regularly in the Championship for his boyhood club. I hope he stays and grows with the club rather than make a sideways/backwards move.6
