Orient selling Ballard for £5m. Hopefully a potential Kanu destination as I’d imagine they will want to spend some of that on a replacement

Given what they’ve done with Kelman and Ballard I think it would be a great move for us if we put a sell on in the deal
As much as it would make sense Orient’s record transfer fee is 250k, would they be willing to go 4x over that for Kanu.

Barnsley have reportedly made a significant bid for a No.9 with no name included. Only a few decent strikers up for grabs left for L1 clubs so could be Kanu
If no one is coming in at £1m then we might have to lower our demands. We’re not in a great spot really as it’s quite obvious we want to sell
I struggle to believe no one is willing to gamble on a 21yr old with the 3rd most non pen goals last season in L2, and scored 6 L1 goals in 30 games with limited minutes when he was 19

perhaps charlton ahpuld gamble on him !

Great to see this kind of communication from Gavin to put our minds at ease. Sounds promising him saying we’re increasing spend on players to back that. Hopefully a few signings this week to back that up even further!
Was going to say should be on the official site, not social media, but looks like it is there too. Obviously this "ongoing investment" is a bit different to a full on takeover, so either the Guardian have dropped the ball/jumped the gun on this one or there's a bit more to it than "just" new investment needed.

Pure speculation by me but I wonder if one or more of the consortia are having second thoughts or changed their minds so we end up owned by the same group but potentially different people?

So Bristol have looked at Dykes and Adebayo, and signed Tolaj and Ballard.

Seems they've decided the risk of a player not stepping up from League 1 is outweighed by them continuing that form and being a more saleable asset as well as firing them up the league.

When another club does it it's good business, when we do it it's because we're skint or no-one wants to sign for us.

No, when we do it, it's bad because it's Apter and Tanto.

I doubt a single poster on here would have complained had we signed Tolaj or Ballard.

I was a bit surprised by the Guardian article yesterday evening but quite quickly I decided I couldn't be arsed to worry about it. Just physically couldn't make myself do the necessary panicking. Then pretty quickly Cawley's article came out to dampen it a bit and then Carter's statement. Now we've got people arguing over whether it's enough of a denial, whether the owners are evil, whatever, I couldn't give a shit anymore. I'm exhausted by modern football at that level. The big thing now will be the signings before the window closes. If we bring in a couple of quality additions in the right areas for a bit of money then that will have us looking a lot better ahead of what was always going to be a really difficult season. If we don't, or only bring in a dodgy loan or uninspiring permanent with an injury history then that will answer its own question. Other than that I just can't spool up the necessary outrage about our very quiet, very distant owners. I'm amazed any of you can anymore really.

    That's a non-denial denial.

Nowhere does he say that the story is false, or even inaccurate. In fact Gavin doesn't really address the article at all.

Just more blurb about 5 year plan etc etc.
Yep. Instead of telling people to take a chill pill, the club need to sign a midfielder! That will calm everyone down

I don't want to seem ungrateful but I can have an exact time please. Or just a ball park? Can't face another full day of refreshing twitter.

Am I safe if I start at 1.30pm? Cheeky half day of refreshing?
Not sure on those details. Do not believe the player is Dykes, Kamara, Chalobah or Holsgrove. Will post more if and when I get it

I would like to say that is good news, although given the overnight news it will be interesting on who comes in, and who goes out.
    Your left leg ?

As with any sale of a youngster, the most important bit is the sell on really

More important when selling to a Championship PL club.  If we sell him to many L1 clubs for example, they would likely struggle to turn down a £2-3M offer in future, so a 20% sell on is less valuable than the initial fee.

I think the outrage is mixed between the uncertainty and the fact that the squad looks poor , pre season results and performances poor , etc etc .  But I broadly agree with your conclusion

They must be paying him a fortune because he’s totally championship quality. I’d be all over that to get him back. Can’t quite believe Jones isn’t.

I don't get why Wrexham renewed his contract only to loan him out.

Our 2018/19 midfield of Aribo, Bielik and Cullen were better than we had now and if we had kept those three plus Gallagher, we would’ve easily stayed up in the 19/20 season
Not sure they would have got much gametime when we had James Vennings and Ben Dempsey.

You’d imagine George wouldn’t be that keen on a league one loan at this point in his career. Looks like his time at Wrexham is over though.

I mean its very possible that the way he left means its Dobson who would be the one "not all over it." That or Wednesday have made a really huge financial offering we can't match. Or indeed both.

“Seeking new investment to progress” “channeling all our energy into driving the club forward”. Doesn’t sound like that means permanent sale, or making a quick profit and running

I would hope for better. Coventry and Doc were an upgrade on him from my perspective (others may disagree!). I would want a real upgrade on them to come in, not a rotation / squad option

Please post a video of yourself saying with a straight face that Docherty is better than Dobbo.  I respect anyone’s opinion but I don’t believe you !

I just get the ick when grown men refer to him as 'Dobbo' - so it's a no from me.
Is it worse than Scotty / Chrissy/ Kins etc etc

WTF? Had we not signed Coady and persvered with Doc and Coventry as midfield pair, we would have been relegated. 100%.

And who is our 1st choice DM pair?

Others will disagree Dobson has battered our midfield every time we’ve played against him
