Disapointed on dykes. He will do well there and the sort of player their fans will love.
Dykes winner set up by lisbie and danny mac sent off 😂

although if u had offered me either grant or dykes, i would have taken grant
    come on you reds

I Understand the move on a personal and family level for Dykes, but regardless, its left a bitter taste in the mouth that a player we’ve helped out and let train with us for fitness has gone to our rivals down the road. Brutal
However we got Danny McNamara for free from Millwall, and I think he will end up being of more value to us than Dykes will be for Millwall.
By the end of the season I have a feeling that despite his provenance, a lot of Addicks will feel a fair bit more than grudging admiration for McNamara. So far he is a bit of an under the radar dark horse piece of transfer business, which I think will prove to be good business.

Shame we've missed out on Dykes, especially now we're playing with wingers. He did a good job for us and as it stands it means we're starting the season reliant on a 35 year old Matt Godden who spent most of last season out injured, Leaburn who struggled at this level last season and possibly Grant. Kelman is out for months most likely, we're probably going to move on Kanu and Olaofe and Mbick is young and also returning from injury. For all we really do need a CM and a RW we're one injury away from a pretty light looking frontline

He’s such a Millwall player. Which is why I wanted him to stay on with us.

Sorry guys, really didn’t think he was crap - thought when we played to his strengths he was quite good.

Not good enough for us, but good enough for a side chasing promotion.
I dont think they'll be up there vying for promotion this season

I thought he did okay, but he didn't want to be here.

I have you right. Think they'll be mid table this year

Meh, not bothered he didn’t sign for us, only the fact of the inevitable goal(s) against us when we play them.

His goal scoring record is shambolic too. If you have goals all across the front line you can afford that. We don’t.

I agree. I thought McNamara looked good last Sat.

And Grant is twice the striker Dykes is. I know that play different roles but I'm betting Grant will score more than Dykes does.

You reckon Bolton and Lincoln have better squads?
  • Dykes isn't good enough for us remember.....
He’s going to be their 3/4 choice striker and would’ve likely been our first.

    He’s not good enough
    How do you know that?
Look at there attacking options he’s worse than all of them
So he's gone there to sit on the bench and hope someone gets injured?
One is already injured. Ivanovic done his metatarsal pre season. Arconte looks very promising but is inexperienced at championship level. I suspect Dykes will very much be 4th choice once Ivanovic is back from injury and Arconte has a few appearances under his belt.
How is a Millwall fan allowed to have over 3,000 posts on a Charlton forum? Am I missing something?
Yes. He’s a decent poster, more sensible than a lot of our own fans, and doesn’t come on here to antagonise or wind people up. And he’s been here way longer than you. He’s more than welcome.
OK. Was literally just a question. Christ.

27 lols and counting for someone offering the completely acceptable opinion that it might be better to have kept someone who held us together for a while after signing and looked immediately one of our better players as well as scoring a few very well-taken goals than a guy who, yeah, great finisher, but is 35 and has had two operations on his knee. I fucking despair with this site

Sorry, are you saying that we can win matches and stay up with Doc and Coventry as our centre midfield?  By January we'll be mathematically down.
Well one of us is talking nonsense.

We may have a better squad but not a better starting XI.

We don't agree often Leuth but spot on here. Anyone that thinks that Godden at 35 with his recent injury problems is going to be a solution to anything are going to be let down very, very quickly

    This squad gets relegated.
It’s a better squad than we had last season, and that squad didn’t get relegated.
We'd have been relegated without Coady, and will be if we start with Doc and Coventry.
The second half of your post is nonsense because we could potentially sign a transformational signing in January again or even before the end of the summer window

Sorry, are you saying that we can win matches and stay up with Doc and Coventry as our centre midfield?
Well one of us is talking nonsense.
That’s very clearly not what I said, although we have and could win matches with them. What I said was,  starting the season with those two as the CM pairing doesn’t guarantee relegation because there’s still time to sign other players

I wonder if Tanto going out, means will be announcing an incoming?

    1 Year Deal.

Apparently turned down a longer deal with us.
We never made an offer according to NJ
We deffo made an offer to Dykes. The official website confirmed this at the end of last season.

What NJ denied last week was that we offered improved terms.

Did the ITK's say something was imminent a few days back?

I've totally lost count of when or where these things were said
