Charlton Athletic can now confirm their end-of-season men’s first-team squad update following the conclusion of the 2025/26 campaign.
The following men’s first-team players remain under contract:
Gassan Ahadme, Karoy Anderson, Rob Apter, Nathan Asiimwe, Amari’i Bell, Tiernan Brooks, Reece Burke, Sonny Carey, Conor Coventry, Kaheim Dixon, Greg Docherty, Josh Edwards, Ibrahim Fullah, Macaulay Gillesphey, Keenan Gough, Lloyd Jones, Thomas Kaminski, Daniel Kanu, Charlie Kelman, Harvey Knibbs, Miles Leaburn, Will Mannion, Micah Mbick, Alex Mitchell, Zach Mitchell, Tanto Olaofe, Kayne Ramsay, Joe Rankin-Costello, Collins Sichenje.
The club have triggered the option to extend Tyreece Campbell’s contract until the summer of 2027 and remain in discussions with Lyndon Dykes and Matty Godden, whose deals are set to expire this summer.
The following players, whose contracts are set to expire this summer, have not been offered a new contract:
Luke Berry, Terry Taylor.
The following players will return to their parent clubs following the expiration of their loan deals:
Luke Chambers, Harry Clarke, Conor Coady, Jayden Fevrier.
The club would like to thank every departing player for their efforts throughout their time at Charlton Athletic and wishes them well for their future careers.
Speaking of his departed players, Addicks boss Nathan Jones said: “We'd like to thank Bez [Luke Berry], who has been wonderful for us. We brought him here for his experience, his goalscoring and for him to be a big contributing factor in getting us out of League One and being able to play at Championship level. He's done exactly what we asked him and his goals were vital, as well as the way he trains and his experience
“The contribution that he's had has been immense and it's probably a little bit understated. He's had one or two injuries which curtailed his impact slightly, but in terms of adding that experience on a daily basis, knowing what it takes to get promoted and knowing what it takes to play at Championship level, he's been exemplary.
“I thank him for trusting us and for coming to us when he had other options. He's been a magnificent signing."
Jones continued: “We also wish Terry [Taylor] all the best. Ever since I've come in he's had an exemplary attitude and he's worked hard. Whenever he's been called upon he's done well for Charlton.
“His gametime was limited here and he's had a few loans and we wish him all the best. He's someone that I really enjoyed working with, he worked hard every day and he has a fantastic attitude. He's one of us and I'm so glad I've worked with Tel. We wish him all the best for the future."

Very underwhelming
An asteric against those players we want out would be good
Surprised he wants to keep Dykes and i really hope they do a deal on Godden3 -
There wasn’t really anything else they could do?WSS said:Not very ruthless is it. 🤣I would prefer we weren’t like Peterborough and listed out all players that we have transfer listed.19 -
All a bit meh but undoubtably a number of under contract players will be sold this window1
-
I didnt realise how “first half of the Alphabet” heavy our squad was until it was listed like that!
Will need to sign more players whose names begin with R, S and T in the summer…22 -

Dykes is massively underwhelming for me. I’d have him as a 4/5th type of option but I can’t see him wanting that.Other than that, not much to report with so few out of contract.7
-
When was the last time we had a retained list where there were only two players who we let go? It's such an improvement from the past decade where we would just churn through an entire squad of players every season and have about 7 professionals on the books before we started making signings.18

Disappointed that we’re still in talks with Dykes, as don’t think that he’s someone we should be after if looking to change our style of play.9
-
The situation with Ramsay will be very interesting over the summer. If he doesn't sign a new contract I expect he'll be gone.0

30 players in contract as it stands heading into next season. Good luck trying to ship a fair few of those out the door. Fingers crossed that there are clubs who are shopping in SE7 for cheap deals
Ahadme - 2 years remaining2 -
Wouldn’t mind keeping Dykes, low risk signing financially sensible and is always a good option if heavens forbid we do need to play long ball in the last 10 mins.Think it may mean we’re willing to hear offers for Leaburn1
-
Then talks take a little bit longer especially if the player says he happy sitting in the stand and not leaving ….. any paying up off contracts comes out the transfer budget so it’s a difficult situation …AberystwythAddick said:

I think you might be a ways off about how much Jones wants to change the style of play. We're still going to be direct and we're still going to need a player up front who can hold the ball up and win headers. Dykes is very good at playing the ball round the corner, very good at directing the headers he wins and knows how to bring other players into play. The problem we've had is there haven't been players running off him and we haven't had the final third quality to make the most of what he's good at. It's the players behind him that we need to improve, we need better wingbacks and midfielders to do something with the possession Dykes retains higher up the pitch. He's a good option for us to have if the deal is right for the club.CafcSteve said:Disappointed that we’re still in talks with Dykes, as don’t think that he’s someone we should be after if looking to change our style of play.17 -
We need to get some of the ones who have 1 year left out the door, even if it means free transfers, however from what I can see theres only 2 - Z Mitchell and Macca.0

Personally I would have liked to see more than 2 players released from that list.Garrymanilow said:When was the last time we had a retained list where there were only two players who we let go? Think people are slightly misunderstanding the purpose of the “retained list” announcement. It’s basically telling you which of the out of contract players aren’t being retained. It doesn’t (nor is it intended to) have a bearing on which under contract players we’ll be looking to move on. And looking at the players we have under contract there’s an awful lot of deadwood there that needs moving on.Big summer ahead.33
-
Of those players still under contract, I think we’ll see a few being sold or having their contracts paid up. Thinking Anderson, Ahadme, Phil and Grant Mitchell .. and a few of the youngsters will be loaned out. Can still see a good number of new players coming in over the summer.0

No surprise about Berry and Taylor.
Disappointed about Dykes as I hoped we’d be aiming higher, but we definitely need a target man in the squad to give us that type of option up front.
The club said Godden had a 1 year club option when he joined and Cawley confirmed that recently, but perhaps that had a minimum number of appearances or it’s around the salary they want to offer him.
I didn’t expect anyone else to have left this early, no doubt we’ll try to sell and loan out some of the younger players and those we don’t want such as Ahadme. If that doesn’t prove possible we might see some contracts terminated early later on.
I expect we’ll be looking to get the likes of TC, Ramsay, Jones and Kanu (I’m less sure about Coventry) on longer term contracts and if not we may see some of them sold to avoid them leaving for nothing in a years time.1 -

There’s several expiring in a year:
Mannion
Asiimwe
Jones
Mitchell x 2
Ramsay
Gillesphey
Coventry
Docherty
Kanu

Can imagine with Dykes it's a "make a decision before you go to the World Cup or it's thank you and goodbye"2
-
... what were (some) people expecting? That we'd just pay off some player's contracts at a loss? Let's give the club a chance to try and sell some of those players first.25
-
Not a huge amount to be learnt from that. I think we can assume that if we find a deal for Dykes then we'll likely be listening to offers for Miles Leaburn.0
-
Gassan Ahadme, Karoy Anderson, Rob Apter, Nathan Asiimwe, Amari’i Bell, Tiernan Brooks, Reece Burke, Sonny Carey, Conor Coventry, Kaheim Dixon, Greg Docherty, Josh Edwards, Ibrahim Fullah, Macaulay Gillesphey, Keenan Gough, Lloyd Jones, Thomas Kaminski, Daniel Kanu, Charlie Kelman, Harvey Knibbs, Miles Leaburn, Will Mannion, Micah Mbick, Alex Mitchell, Zach Mitchell, Tanto Olaofe, Kayne Ramsay, Joe Rankin-Costello, Collins Sichenje.
Edit - TC (not sure why he wasn’t in there to start with)Bold = I would keep
Italics = maybe
Everyone else I would shift3 -
Just because some are under contract it doesn’t mean we can’t sell them . All be it probably at a loss . I would imagine at least 6-8 of those players will go out on loan .0
-
Why? The ones we have in contract we can hopefully get a fee for. A bit of money for Gillesphey, Mannion/Kaminski, Coventry, Mitchell and (in a magical world) Ahadme is all money that can be put back into signings. Better than just seeing players we paid fees for disappear off for nothing like previous seasonsblackpool72 said:
