We lost 2-0 to Wimbeldon few season back in preseason and we got promoted ..going to be a good season … it’s pre season result don’t matter , playing two mixed up teams never gives a decent bonded performance .. and the change in systems through  the game is difficult to keep up with ….  But no team going to play their starting team or give away the tactics in these types of games …and every player is at a different point in their fitness … two poor goals we let the player run though our midfield for first and again we allowed the player to have to much space just outside our box ..

Koumetio was very impressive great pace .. but there were a few who never really took their chance or put themselves in the shop window

A couple of very pleasant beers pre-match in The Trafalgar and The Sultan and a nice walk along the River Wandle to the ground.

As to the game, I’m afraid we were second best all over the park and largely outclassed by a lively and sharp Wimbledon side, who knew how to pass and move and how to switch the play and make the pitch big.

They looked a very well coached side, so Jacko will be well pleased.
You should have stayed in The Sultan. An afternoon on Hop Back would have been a lot more pleasurable

Palace lost 3-0 at Bromley I think.

didn’t bother watching today after going last week. Think I’ll just steer clear of all friendlies. They just get me annoyed.

doesn’t sound like anyone did themselves any favours today.

He seemed chilled about it all, stating if we took our chances would have been 3-1 up at HT. Not sure about that. Also no
mention of ins and Grant and Danny Mac 3 weeks behind everyone

Be more worried if we play shite and get turned over by Derby. This is a friendly, let’s see who we bring in as we have to be competitive this season. I think we will be all right.

Except we currently have no one capable of taking chances. So there’s that.

    Very worrying that interview.

No acknowledgment that we need more creativity & seems to think what we have is good enough and all the front players have to do is take their chances.

Also worrying that Grant & McNamara don't seem to have had any pre-season so are a few weeks behind everyone else. Been here before & it never works out well.

Love this type of post 🙄

In 3 weeks time AFTER the Derby game it will be..."lets see who we bring in by the time the transfer window shuts...."

I never get concerned about results pre season but for me that was very concerning in that we didn’t seem to have any creative intent. A lot of players not doing themselves any favours so far in staking a claim to a starting place. Defence aside I think the only player who has carried any sort of intent has been TC and that in itself should be ringing alarm bells.

For reference, Pompey are currently being thumped 3-0 by Wycombe and their fans are also having a meltdown. That’s despite them spending more than us

Well they couldn't have spent much less.

The result doesn't matter, but style of play does.

We don't appear to have progressed and that matchday squad wouldn't look out of place in League 1.

Nevermind Coady & Dykes, they'd only make it look more average. We need quality that can look like assured professionals on the ball.

Got a feeling we will be right down there after the first 2 months. Not a chance we can match last seasons great start

In fairness Coady has played at the top level because of his ability on the ball. He can’t run but his quality on the ball is very strong for this level. He’s better than Coventry at least anyway

Would love to dig out the post match comments from the Wimbledon friendly 2 years ago. Would imagine a lot of the posters being negative today were saying after that game that we’d never get promoted that season

You'd have thought after two years of doom and gloom that some would be a little bit more hesitant over predicting our demise... Third time lucky for them I guess

Does Steve Brown know that you have literally written his match summary and passed it off as your own.

    Well it was only Gillingham.......

    Apologies for my match post. Should have known full well it wasn't Gills as;

    1) We played them last week
    2) We could beat them
    3) The other manager on the touchline today is revered in our house, above any other manager in the football league.

My god what was served up today was a sh!t sandwich. I know we weren't quality last season, but please Nathan, sort it out. My eyes are hurting already and the season hasn't started!

Do not Judge the team until we have played least 5 league games, NJ will have the team ready for Derby. I can't honestly believe some of you who have watched football for years are reading into this so much, the players aren't going to run around like headless chickens and get injured in a friendly against Wimbledon. Chill out.

    Absolutely horrible performance.

Not sure what we got out of that? Team look lethargic, one paced and at the moment completely devoid of any attacking ideas.

People saying pre season is about fitness should be equally worried as those bemoaning the performance. Wimbledon looked fitter and stronger and several of ours looked to be running through treacle from the start.

No idea why Aissimwe is playing or still involved, he is not going to be here. Are we trying to force Daniel Kanu out? Because if I was him and was sitting on the bench watching Olafoe doing a really shit impression of a pro footballer I’d be looking for the exit door asap.

Not quite into huge concern territory yet, the club surely know what the main issue is (midfield) and you have to trust that they address it.
