Last 3 seasons in the Championship - 4 goals, 7 goals, 6 goals.

Don't think he's going to fix all our issues, but it's another option with experience I guess.
Plays in the Campbell position who scored 3 and created 1. Ilan upgrade is still an upgrade

Very happy with this signing, good age bags of experience. Also Jones working with him before is an added bonus, hopefully means we will push playing 4231.

Interesting that he chose us over WBA, when I'd be surprised if the wages we offered were more than they offered, and it was only a 2 year deal as well.
  • Do we suspect that Kelman will be out for a while and KAG is a quick replacement.
That would be a record signing in time wise , Kelman only injured his shoulder yesterday

I’m concerned about the hamstring injury but I suspect he’ll be rotating a lot with TC in the second striker/winger role anyway. Hasn’t scored hatful of goals but then none of our strikers do. Can’t say I’m overly excited but I do understand the theory of the signing and hope to be proved wrong about my concerns

To be fair to the lad, he hasn't been playing in a successful team for any of those seasons, has he?

How many goals did our current strikers score in comparison?
Then he should feel at home.

On a free i guess it's not the worst deal ever, and he's experienced at this level which counts for something, but he's done nothing since 2022.

I think he’s better when he starts centrally and then drifts wide .  When he starts on the left , he looks limited to me - like Tc, can only really go one way.  If people tell me that Mesik is the second coming of Chris Powell, we have nothing to worry about

I seem to remember him playing mainly out on the right for us. Anybody know what foot he favours?

    Here we go again:
Bargain Hunt and The Repair Shop.
But that's where we are at! We are not flush with funds based on the way our owners manage us, we've changed transfer strategy from young up and coming Lge1 to experienced Championship, that's increased costs and we are again favourites for relegation. I would be amazed if any of our signings are going to be greeted with massive "whelming" . If we succeed this season it's going to be another "sun of parts, greater than the whole".

Thank you for putting this information on CL, no thanks to Charlton OS who insists on putting the stories on Facebook. I am not going to be told to join Facebook.
Please Charlton, think of the fans who have supported you for 60 years or more and just make it easy for us to read on the OS. Thank you

Also I hate feeding Musk's pocket by having to go on X to get team news.

Perhaps game time was a factor. Not a guaranteed starter perhaps at The Hawthorns and that’s certainly not the case for us. As for two years. I could understand that this was possibly the players preference. He’ll be 30 when his deal expires and that should give him a chance of securing another decent contract. A three year deal would put him at 31 and a contract offer that suits him might not be quite as easy.

On social media they post a link to the OS. The interview is currently only on YouTube but you don’t need an account to watch YouTube
  • I think it is a very sensible signing, for experience alone he is worth taking a punt on.

He's only half the player that Ahearne-Grant was.
    That's unfair!

    He's 2/3 the player that Ahearne-Grant was.

Let’s see how he does. I’m not a big fan but if he does the business with us that’s all that matters. Welcome Karlan.

Like it, comes in at a position and play style we needed options in and has plenty of experience at this level now

Like Dykes and Costello before him he's only an uninspired signing if you're an established mid table championship club looking to push on...but we're not that, hopefully by the end of Grants contract we will be and then it's job done from him.

If that seems way too much to you, then yes, that's what we're paying him.

If it seems too low, then no, we're paying him 40k per week.

Despite what you read online, you don't actually know how much footballers make. Just an FYI.
