I can remember that he drifted into obscurity when Gobby played him out wide and only improved and scored goals after Robinson departed and he was played in a more central position.

I liked the partnership of Taylor and Grant because when one went central the other could play wide and vice versa.
That partnership would've been even more deadly from January onwards but Karlan had to take the offer from Huddersfield even though it took Lyle's* advice to finally make up his mind to move.

Grant is hardly an injury hit player when he has a career 387 apps and 184 league apps in the last 5 seasons in the Championship.

* Taylor told Karlan he had to move to Huddersfield as it was a good career move and that was info that came straight from the persona non grata's mouth.
Perhaps we shouldn't have been surprised what happened with the COVID mini season and the refusal to play by LT.

True! If we had a more creative midfield , where he could run in behind and be played in, he’d be ok on the right .  

Fingers crossed that’s where majority of the budget will go. 2 quality midfielders

Welcome back KG. I did/do have questions about the attitude issues, but first interview he's being seen to say the right things so fingers crossed.

Looks to be a decent championship forward option, and at 28 should be coming into his prime. Honestly thought he'd be older as it feels like a lifetime ago he was here before.

Not a prolific scorer, but industrious and feels like a good pressing forward so fits the NJ mould. And still scored more than most of our strikers at this level last year (only kelman and dykes scored more, although a couple of those dykes goals were at Brum)

Feel like the injury concerns have been overblown but let's see if our medical team improve on last year.

It's 6 or 7 years since he was at Charlton so thought I would look at what the West Brom fans think, in context they currently have 17 contracted players, plus some kids (according to one of their posters).

General consensus seems to be they were not worried if he left and not worried if he stayed, a bit meh.

Lots of pace, hard worker/grafter but poor first touch and decision making.

They will be tainted by the fact they spent £15M on him and paid him big wages of course.

So, he's another athlete to add to our others but not sure he is guile and flair.

I agree that the West Brom fans judgement of Grant is very much coloured by his £15 million price tag.
We have signed him for nothing so any issue at Charlton might be other players jealous of his wages,
Hopefully his wages relate realistically to the other senior players, and if there is a shortfall from Grant’s point of view it has been made up by the signing on fee.
