Millenic Oluwole Sulaiman Alli is an islamic name with an African and an eastern European name in there as well for the Irish born CAFC new signing.
So definitely makes the God Squad and Islam and Christianity do believe in the one God going back to Abrahamic roots but definitely In Countries like Nigeria the relationship is terrible between Islamic and Christian beliefs.
Alli was born in Ireland but his parents like Eze are from Nigeria.
Saka, Semenyo, Guehi and Nketiah were all raised in devout Religious families.
As a non believer in a 'God' I can be cynical but it has definitely helped these lads to focus on their careers and kept going through the adversity of being a professional footballer where you are idolised one week and slated the next.
Good luck for Alli at Charlton even if he, like the rest of the God squad don't put it down to luck but heavy duty praying.

Finding the criticism of this lad harsh - he came on as an attacking player but effectively had to play as a second left back.
He also broke away on the counter a few times, winning us some valuable free kicks to manage the game.
Excited to see him in a game situation that's more suited to his play.8 -
Absolutely nothing against him losing battles to CBT most defenders would struggle with that. But after getting beat just gave up, and didn’t even try chasing back or even something as simple as finding someone else to go and mark or get in a position to pick up the seconds.Hope he’s going to be good going forward because he will lose a lot of fans with being incredibly lazy2

To be clear here I’m not criticising Alli. If anything it was Mesik who disappointed me - put in one initial tackle then seemed to go awol.0

He was probably told to remain as the outlet in case we won the ball back. He had no clue as to what position to take up. I have this on him predominantly but perhaps Mesik (who didn’t look bad to me) could have taken charge and helped him more .It was a debut to forget tho1

I was pretty annoyed when he lost the ball and jogged back whilst CBT raced forward. Looked promising going forward though.0

Funny how when TC was played out of position as a wingback a number of times and was dribbled by consistently, posters on here were still saying he was a decent defender. Alli plays similarly for twenty minutes and he is being written off.1

We’ve seen a lot worse debuts than Alli in a Charlton shirt. Not really fair to blame Alli. We took Danny Mac off just as CBT came on and I still don’t really have any idea who was meant to be marking Corey. Doesn’t make sense to expect Alli to do that, esp not with plenty of out and out defenders on the pitch eg Mesik and Collins.2

Tough first game marking a determined CBT for a long stint.Have to say there were a few moments where Alli got the ball on the break or in space - moments that felt like sort of the “point” of having him, thinking “yes! now!” and he either just fudged it or passed the buck. Let’s see if he settles into the team but it did highlight to me what a good job TC does in those situations, even with his well documented inconsistency last season.1

Think the main benefit to the Alli signing will be not running TC into the ground this year. We have made a couple of signings where as much benefit will be felt elsewhere across the team and this is one of them.5

We did score our winner while Alli was on the pitch, and he bust a gut to get into the box and support Miles's run for TC's winner.3

Bit early to say yet and he’s been reduced to substitute appearances and a cup game - but can’t say I’ve been overly impressed. Some Pompey fans claimed he wasn’t up to Championship standard and I can so far see why. Fingers crossed with a few more games he can turn it around.1

Don’t care who the opposition is no excuse to sit on your ass as soon as a player gets past you. He wasn't quick in terms of raw pace, but in terms of thought. Nathan Jones loves a clever footballer0

Maybe 1 in 10 was harsh but I still think this holds up. He's going to have moments/games of being unstoppable and probably a fair few of utter anonymity. Hopefully more of the former than the latter.thenewbie said:
