Kanu - as the one likely to leave now given Apter has a knock - hasnt exactly got minutes in his legs tho has he. If he left tomorrow the chances are he would be behind and need to take a bit of time to build up minutes

If these guys help nudge us up to, say, 14th, at the end of the season, and we actually start looking like we might score more than 1 goal a game, then they will have been decent signings.

It is interesting that Apter seems to have been written off by many.  Had a poor game against Southampton - wasn’t alone , but has a lot of ability .

Just as an aside to this... Jack Payne scored more headed goals for us in one season than Jayden Stockley!

Fairly obvious to me at least that Rob Apter was completely unsuited to what Jones requires of a player and to the style we played last season. I do question why he was scouted and signed unless we thought of him as a player for the future and not particularly for last season. Given our budget restraints I doubt that though. Undoubtedly there’s a talent there but my worry is that his loan at Bolton was nothing short of terrible. Fans thought he had no interest at all. I’d have thought he would have put in double the effort yet apparently not. Perhaps he can be rehabilitated and moulded by Jones but sadly thus far we’ve seen precious little signs of that.

Same memory as you.
Apter lost his marker and put in a good cross  from the right from an advanced position into the six yard box and the defender put the ball into his own goal.

I got the sense from NTT20 that he is similar to Tanto. In so far as he has physicality, power, pace, energy but his end product is “erratic”
last year when discussing Tanto they stated that were it not for his finishing and general end product he would be a 10 mill player. 

Hopefully Alli can provide an end product on a lot consistent basis than it seems he has previously. We need him to!

Not really unsuited, unwilling to try. He was clearly very capable in the first few games and then he stopped bothering to run back. We signed him in the hopes he'd try and adapt and he couldn't be arsed. In his first interview after signing he made it clear he'd been told he'd be playing RWB and he was great at it until he just didn't like doing it anymore. If we're playing with wingers this season then he'll have less defensive responsibility but he's got a lot of work to do to get ahead of whoever we're planning on bringing in ahead of him before the window closes

Besides which I have a grandson, who like's this kit/shirt for his birthday, in a couple of weeks. It is a bit vague when this will be on sale,  and mentions in the next few weeks?. I Have bought him a kit for his birthday most years, and yes he has a home shirt, and away shirt from last season. I do remember a time when the kit was previewed at Sparrows lane or the shop itself!.

Good idea, in the past we have gone to the shop, as he has been to the Valley with his sister, and we end up buying both of them a shirt during the summer holiday's. He is only 5 in a couple of weeks, but like his cousin, kids love there football shirts, I have carried on the tradition of buying them a shirt each year for there birthday, I did it for our sons, and my grandfather did it for me, although in the 'dark ages', you could could not buy a Charlton kit, but my grandfather a resourceful man got a man united junior shirt, and 'obtained a CAFC badge, which my grandmother sewed on and took in, being adept in those days!. I wore it to Sherrington school, at football, and in Charlton Park when I was about 8. I have enough trouble trying to persuade grandchildren to follow CAFC, as his cousin has his other grandparent buying him that mob at Palace, who he supports, being the deluded type!

But if all fails I will get him a voucher as you suggest!.

I was shocked today when he was left, so often, as the one trying to stop crosses and he just couldn’t handle it.

His debut was not great at all - he looked totally lost at sea.

His positional sense was off, he showed no aptitude for helping out defensively, he lost the ball in an incredibly dangerous area at a critical moment of the game, his passing was off generally and he didn’t beat a single man.

Thought he was fine, looked like he offered a threat. Obviously he’s not going to be much good at helping us defend a lead. 

Neither is TC on the other side, that’s why we had such a horrendous run with him and Macca nine months ago.

CBT had him on toast apart from one occasion when he tackled and won the ball then promptly passed across the edge of the box to another Derby player. Don’t understand why him and Mesik weren’t properly doubling up on CBT who got I think four dangerous crosses into the box in about 10 minutes. 

Early days but do think his strength is going forwards not defending a lead.
