Not a chance he is talking about Carey, he would've been rested if he was off... TC played as we don't have anyone else who can play wide right and we wanted to treat this as a practice match for the opener

Steve Cotterill said many millions and he seemed to believe it was TC and Carey as Godden won't be worth many millions at 35.
I didn't realize the words of SC  had there own thread!

It's weird because if there was a 3.5 million bid from Preston for TC, I definitely think we should consider it but IF Tyreece could play with the fire in his belly from yesterday then obviously I want him to stay.

If Harry Clarke at 25 is a potential 3 million pound player for Stoke then Kayne Ramsay surely is worth 4 million at 25 ?

Despite his critics' on CL I think a goal scoring Championship attacking midfielder is worth even more but I really wouldn't want to lose Carey who I believe will score double figures this season if Chalobah and the new midfielder are prime and ready to impact the season.

I still believe Coventry can play apart.
I have always found Conor a difficult player to mark on the scores on the doors as you need to watch twice.  The 2nd time to see what he does off the ball.
This is how the analysts earn their money and Managers can either take that on board or go with their gut reaction. NJ loves TC so maybe this can be the 2nd championship season improvement where Tyreece show his mettle.
Coventry is no Keith Jones or Kinsella off the ball - I’m not sure what he does off the ball goes unnoticed . It’s his lack of speed and and poor passing that does him no favours.  He did play well yesterday , against a league 2 side.

I want TC to stay now he's going to get to play as a winger. If he won't sign a new contract and we're offered several million we'd have to take it I'd have thought.

I think it's great when an opposing manager knows a lot about Charlton. That means we're a focus of attention, we're being noticed and we have players, a manager, a system and results that are worth talking about.

By contrast, I know very little about Steve Cotterill. Except that, eighteen years ago, both his daughters were teenagers.

He may just play a supporting role off the bench if the ITK guy is correct on the new Kenyan Midfielder Timothy Ouma is near to signing 🙄

It is always a risk having first team regulars go into the last year of their contract.
It will always be tempting for a player running down the contract and going on a free transfer and maximising their earning potential.

With TC in the final year of his contract no one will offer more than one million for him.
If he refuses to sign a new contract id sell him.
Problem is if he won't accept the new club.
I doubt very much he fancied a move to Preston for instance.
If he stays we just have to get on with it and see what happens in January.
If another London club came in for him he may well go as he wouldn't have to move house and he could remain close to his family and friends.

I think they would, Clarke only has a year left on his contract and Stoke made an £3.5m offer (though I’d guess that includes clauses).

I that were true the 1 million part I'd sooner keep him as he would be useful in keeping us in the championship. The loss of revenue from relegation would outweigh losing him for nothing in my opinion.

We have player's who can play out wide.
If we got a million for TC and added it to what money we have to spend on a midfielder I wouldn't be against it.
Obviously the best scenario is he signs a new contract.
If he signs a new contract and plays well then we probably could get 3 or 4 million in the summer.

Just a different version of they "they've got players who cost £x million, we can't compete" you get at cup games.

Given TC is from the youth system int, for example and he can't say that.
    Exactly what it is.

TC will go if the right amount comes in but I’d expect the “right amount” to be north of £5m. He is that important to how NJ wants us to play.
We won’t get north of 5m for TC in my opinion. Closer to 3m. If he were under contract for longer then who knows but now he’s into the last year then no.

And I doubt he’d go to Preston even if they agreed a fee with us. Somewhere like Norwich more likely.

Then he stays. Even if he goes next summer for nothing, we’ll get more than £3m extra in TV money simply for being in this league and not the one below it.

I know he gets pelters for his end product but he’s the only player we had last season who gets respect / double marked by the opposition. Lose him without sufficient resources to replace his threat and I worry for our season.
Question it comes down to is TC good enough to be the difference between survival and relegation or sneaks you into playoffs.

Personally I don’t think so, would love TC to extend and stay but we could definitely utilise the money we get for him instead of letting him walk for free + minimal compensation

Obviously we all have our own views, but personally I’d say he is good enough to be the difference between survival and relegation.

I agree - sell him and it will be a big blow - I think the additional attacking threats we are adding this summer will free TC up to be an even bigger threat than he has been for the last 2 seasons - and make no mistake, he’s been our biggest threat for 2 years - only if we get offered north of £5m should we have a decision to make

    Harry Clarke 3.5M
    Ben Whiteman 3M
    Ingelsson 1M
    Sam Field 1.5M

there’s 4 examples of championship players from one championship club to another with 1 year left on their deals. I’d argue TC has more upside potential worth signing than any of those.

    The market has completely changed

I shagged Cotterill’s daughter a few times about 18 years ago now.

It goes without saying but I am currently gutted that I didn’t keep that arrangement going. Solely as I’d now be able to ask him wtf he’s referring to here and in turn become a fully fledged Charlton Life ITK’er.

I bet her now-husband rules his respective club’s forum with the crumbs Steve throws his way. That should be me. Those should be my crumbs.

    Sliding doors and all that.

No chance we sell him for that. We're in a transfer market these days where a non-league player (who is older than TC) and has never played in the league is apparently receiving bids of 3m.

I can assure you that isn't true now or in the past.

The most blatant case was the day that Kevin Lisbie scored his hat trick against Liverpool. I swapped seats with my Brother and I sat in the covered end and he sat in the west stand. 23 years ago but it's still imprinted in my memory.
This young guy who was in the same row but 4 seats along was giving Lisbie stick before and even after his first two goals. When Kevin's 3rd goal went in and everyone's on their feet cheering, this abuser just sat down with his head in his hands.
I'm sure there's many on here who gave Lisbie stick on his laid back performances but what kind of a person gives dogs abuse to a player on his greatest day in his career even as his goals were going in ? Rhetoric question as it's a bully.

This would be the longest post ever if I told you all the different cases of Fan/critics having it in for particular players in the days I was a 30 league games a season supporter or in recent years when part time at the Valley.

There was a home game last year and TC was having a stinker (he wasn't alone). I was moaning for about 5mins saying "get him off. He's not on it today. Bloody useless" etc. He then picked up the ball made some space and absolutely leathered it into the bottom corner! I was very happy to be proved wrong and celebrated wildly 🤣😂 I like TC and think selling him would be a big mistake.

50 odd interactions on my last post - a little look behind the silk curtain of what could have been for me... Thank you Steve.

Now for the tricky second album. It's a toss up between when I bumped into Steve a few years ago at a Waterstones, vs the couple of dates my missus went on with Nigel Adkin's son (we weren't together at the time - but I'd green light a rerun in exchange for Redrobo / Timothy Ouma levels of ITK info if you're reading this).

Our respective histories with EFL journeymen's offspring isn't what brought us together, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't think it plays some small part in keeping us together today.

Sorry @Plaaayer didn't realise you were on here. The photos of the family BBQ on facebook were lovely though - good to see your missus hasn't lost her ability to handle a sausage as well

We should not be considering a TC exit. Are we mad?!!
just changed formation which will allow him to play on the wing proper
