Tough watch. We know we generally aim to play on the counter, but we rarely had the ball to do much of that. The team need to find a way to keep the ball a bit better as when we do get it, we’re normally surprised/tired/pressed and can’t play out or relax on the ball.
Despite the above we did have a few half chances, and Tyrece was unlucky to be given offside (he was on). Thought we might take it at the end as at set plays we always look dangerous with Lloyd and co in the box.
Positive to keep the points ticking up, and we do look capable of goals when the ball is at the right end of the pitch. Hopefully we’ll find a bit more rhythm and fluency with the ball next time out.1 -
Tough game for us that. Couldn’t really press QPR because with Charles in goal they pretty much have an extra good footballer back there so will just pop it around you easily
Sitting in and trying to counter was the right play. We didn’t do it that well, other than the offside goal, and the ref didn’t help another couple of times we managed to get out
Don’t know what Jones was doing leaving TC on that late. Was clear the poor lad was knackered on about 65 minutes and needed to come off. We nearly conceded a couple of times from their right back overlapping. Think we are in a bad spot where Jones doesn’t trust a lot of his bench so would rather have knackered starters on the pitch than fresh legs7 -
That's as maybe but all I was saying was I just don't get it with him at the moment. That's all. I hope I'm eating humble pie in a few months. And it's slightly different to Bindon who has come into a new club after pre season and played three 90 minutes in a week not 20 mins here or there. Again, sorry for having an opinion.fenaddick said:

Not sure a 0-0 bore draw is momentum.ForeverAddickted said:
Hang on... Wasn't one of the arguments for playing our First Team vs. Spurs because of momentum, rather than resting them with the prospect of Preston in mind? - Now we go on to play Pompey, having the momentum of recovered from a 4-0, whilst Pompey come into the game well rested (like our eleven vs. Preston) - So which is right?golfaddick said:

You should always try to beat the team in front of you. Don't worry about the next game to come.
But you stick to your agenda.3 -
Seen a few posts referencing random players from the last 4-5 years and it really does bring home how far we have come when there is a bit of discontent about a 0-0 against QPR.
We have had a great start to the season and that is a battling point against a decent QPR team. They actually looked a lot better side than I was expecting and wouldn't be surprised to see them in and around it this year.
The League One years were thoroughly bleak and the thought of going back down depresses the life out of me. Give me some battling 0-0 draws in the Championship any day of the week.7 -
QPR pressed higher than us - We pressed lower and dropped into a defensive block so gave them more spacemsomerton said:

Perfectly entitled to your opinion, was just curious what you saw the difference as. Can understand your minutes argument for sureLargeAddick said:

Players being judged way too soon
Mbick - no pre-season, coming back of a bad injury, 70 odd minutes of championship football having barely played above league 2 previously
Bindon & Skipp - have both probably played more matches than they’ve had training sessions so far given the schedule. Of course they look a bit off it
Just need to get to the break, 3 weeks of training, players back from injury and then we can see how good we, and the players are12 -

7 million quid rejected for Mbick. I hope the boy is just rusty because that could finance our whole team0

It was given as offside by the linesman. Whether he was or not, what changes? It was close either way so without VAR what can you do.JaShea99 said:Does anyone know if TC was onside?2 -
Spend £7m on a whole team in the championship and what you'll quickly end up with is a team in League 1.agim said:7 million quid rejected for Mbick. I hope the boy is just rusty because that could finance our whole team
You want to be properly competitive in this league nowadays you spend triple that10 -
Two teams battling away for the full 90, what’s not to like ?
our defending will get us promoted if we can manage to score a goal a bit more often.
shame the let’s keep at least 7k seats unsold and increase the number of empty seats if we can approach is still being maintained.1 -

I’m struggling for the 9thBasically from your list we're missing: Ramsay or McNamara, Chalobah, Koumetio as First Team PlayersAs all of those nine (Mannion etc.) likely / possibly wouldn't necessarily have started tonight given the options that did start
Who are the 9 that go into our first team.
Our first team is the starting 11 players.First team for me means the first team squad. Match day selections.Your first 11 changes regularly.
I'll be the first to congratulate Josh Laqeretabua on his first first-team appearance today. On the bench. Unused substitute. The 'first-team' is the first-team we put out onto the pitch.
The first team squad is the 20 who get selected for the game.
Anyway Josh has already been in the first team squad, and made his debut in a league match last season.
When people say "he's training with the first team" they don't mean the specific 11 from the last/next starting XI lineup, they mean the general first team squad
In modern football, it's a team game whereby coaches and managers use 15 or 16 players across the 90 minutes to win a football match.3 -
Didn’t our starting line-up tonight cost much less?sam3110 said:

looked like miles was holding his groin then his hamstring 30 mins in. Hopefully not, but if so might give mbick a chance. Not sure what to think really, meh.Did look like if we can get some through balls to tc through the middle he will tear the division apart (skipps ball) but we have no creative players to do so. So, meh.2 -
I had a cistoscopy last week - I asked for a blindfold - should have asked for another one tonight.DamoNorthStand said:

If he’s as good as we, and England, Brighton and Southampton think he is then he will go for more money than that, which will make a huge difference to our ability to spend money at this levelagim said:7 million quid rejected for Mbick. I reckon those probably know a little bit more than our fans that have watched him play 70-odd minutes off the bench after having no pre-season and a bad injury11 -
QPR had nothing except from the Bindon mistake. Wasn't pretty but we've now played 1st and 2nd in the league away + 4th in the league at home and we have 11 points after 6 games. I'm pretty happy with that.

Yes but there is no injured 10 coming back in or an injured 7. The returnees will largely reinforce our defence and front players, not our goal creating in midfield or on the wings.NabySarr said:Players being judged way too soon

Our squad is built for survival despite all NJ's talk of progress. That is all we could afford this time round. 30% possession likely to be the norm

Shut the fucking entry onto the A2 at Falconwood!!!!!,so just got in, Anyway, we were second best really wasn’t we?, but we got a point. Wasn’t pretty but not going to moan at the moment as real judgement of us will come I’m guessing after the international break, hopefully players will come back fit and we can play the way NJ has built the squad for, we’ve had a decent start that will look better for a win on Saturday , we are in a bit of survival mode until then. We aren’t getting the rub of the green either at the moment particularly with officials which is usually the way when we least need it with the injury issues. Think we need to keep calm take our point and as somebody else has said, take a little look at the table. We have lots of room for improvement. Side notes, Chalobah massive miss, MBICK , I’m really struggling to see what he’s all about, not giving up on him or anything, but not getting it. Miles hope the injury isn’t too bad, Sonny I’ve been backing up but what’s going on.2

The offside decision wouldn't matter if we had won 2-0. Apart from that passage of play we didnt trouble their goalkeeper.
NJ would be better addressing our shortcomings......not the officials.9 -
Sorry haven’t seen it back, was the penalty shout a legit one 2nd half?0

VAR would have defo taken a look. Defender threw himself to the floor to block the shot - hard to tell if his arm was in an unnatural positionSword65pf said:Sorry haven’t seen it back, was the penalty shout a legit one 2nd half?0 -

That's not true. We started and ended the first half really well. We put some pressure on 2nd half where we could have nicked a goal on another day.TD_Addick said:I’m usually an optimistic fan but you have to say it how it is that was painful, you least expect as the home team to have a 10 20 minute spell of something, was nothing for 90 min. We just looked from minute one to take a point sit deep and soak up the pressure. Positives we were outclassed by West Brom and now QPR but have taken two points. We move on to Portsmouth
We also had a goal disallowed that shouldn't have been.
Sorry we had 4 minutes of good play my mistake1
