We didn't deserve more but our goal was onside and how the ref missed the pull back at the end sends you into despair. He did miss a clear foul by Bindon just outside the area so I suppose you can only assume the ref and his fellow officials were useless. We have to get better at playing passing teams. Having said that both West Brom and QPR were a bit lacking up front.1
-
After a promising opening 10 minutes we allowed QPR to grow into the game and dictate everything.
We created a chance for TC on the break but beyond that chased shadows and looked exhausted.
We were 2nd to almost everything, but ultimately stuck to task at the back and kept a precious clean sheet.
I found it almost embarrassing that we surrendered so much control and showed such little ambition at home. That needs to improve as soon as bodies are back from injury, that’s the only excuse for such a performance

I get that, I really do, but who else do we play there? Hopefully NJ can just say that Leaburn is fine, and we don't have to worry.AberystwythAddick said:
Why risk him if he’s not fully ready yet?DDOUBLEE said:
We have one other fit striker. Kelman has supposedly trained all week, how long do we have to give him?AberystwythAddick said:
I’d personally prefer Kelman to be fully fit before playing gamesDDOUBLEE said:Disappointing again that Nkeng or Knibbs weren't given a chance. Charlie Kelman is going to have to play Saturday. We don't have the luxury of waiting until the international break. It’s a long season and we need him fit for most of it.1 -
I hate theatrics in football, but Karlan would have been better going down after the pull, then maybe the ref would have done his job properly.Macronate said:We were lucky QPR didn’t have any real goal threat.
Can’t carry on playing like that, especially at home.
How the ref didn’t see the shirt pull on Grant is beyond me.5 -
Reasonably disappointed with that!First half ebbed and flowed, neither team making much on target in way of shots- TCs disallowed goal looked both onside and Offside everytime they showed a replay!Second half we just didn’t come out with any bite, but going to 532 gave us more dominance and pressure higher up the field and we could have pushed on - but once again we brought on Mbick and lost all momentum and forward thrust (Micah clearly not up to championship football, and hasn’t shown otherwise despite some nice touches and play).
we seemed to be happy playing for a draw- totally bewildered that we went back to 4231 and kept Grant on who clearly was knackered and not able to pull much off on his day.
mwamba brought fresh impetus and a spark, but we took too long to introduce Alli. Would liked to have seen Nkeng on too, for a cameo especially down that right.
hopefully Leaburn isn’t injured/too badly injured as we look bereft of idea when he isn’t on the pitch - and I can’t deal with having to watch Mbick ghost around the pitch without much meaning! Kelman and Godden needed back asap.
big shout out to Amari Bell, who looks to have almost taken a downward trajectory- most passes down the line are misplaced and go out, he holds on to the ball too long and invited pressure and tackles and clearly isn’t a LB … annoyingly we looked so much more positive when Mesik got deployed there for a brief 5-10 minutes.
take the point, bounced back after a drubbing but can’t help think that we could well have got all three if we had been a bit braver with our tactics/personnel second half2 -
Gotta be happy with a point, but really, not derservidly, we should have had all 3.
We were very poor today on the ball that was clear but for all their possession and dominance, really showing the gulf in class between either team, they didn't really create anything.
Also their keeper, wow I dont recall seeing a keeper ever having such good distribution, I thought it was just our players being well off it at first but he found a qpr shirt everytime.6 -
One real positive is that Mesík looked good again, he's setlled in so well33
-
We're poor out of possession and when we do have the ball we panic as soon as the opponents put us under any sort of pressure. If we can't improve both of those aspects of our game we're in for a long season.2

This game raised some real issues re Jones and his coaching.
Why was it that QPR had so many players available to collect the ball (in space) whilst whenever we had the ball there were zero options available for to pass to?
It was as if we just said 'there you are, you have the ball' ok, we defended well, but you cant go thru every game with that tactic.
This was a really tough watch tbh, as most people have said , and we know we are going to get the usual after match hyperbole from Jones about them being a very good side and spent lots more money than us blah, blah, blah. This cant go on like this. We're at home ffs , put some pressure on the ball and force them to make some hurried decisions instead of just allowing them to pass around us like they did today.7 -

Knibbs spent the whole match warming up on the sideline.Like when I’m on the cricket pitch and try and do some stretches in the corner of the captains eye in hope he will bring me on.5

Agreed on Bindon!charlton_hero said:Happy with a point, but it was a tough watch. Bindon looks dodgy.Yet to see this defensive powerhouse we were promised0 -
His defensive structure was the only thing that won us a point today. Not saying he got the other side of his tactics right but there's only so much a manager can do when senior pros are repeatedly putting the ball straight out of play.Fortune 82nd Minute said:

Jones hasn't covered himself in glory tonight with his tactics and not changing things earlier.

PWR.
Awful......just awful.
Yes we defended well & stopped them from really troubling Okonkwo but jeez, we were the home side. Only real chance we had was the disallowed goal.......and that was the best through ball we've played this season.
And I thought thus season we were going to be more attacking. NJ still doesn't trust any other winger than TC. We are so lopsided if there was a strong wind then everyone would fall off the left hand side of the pitch.
People will come on here & say a point's a point.....if you can't win the don't lose yadda yadda yadda. But this was a home game against a team that will finish mid-table. They were missing Kone & Chair and we treated them like they were Man City.
I expect a lot of lol's & be told I'm just a moaner. Meh.18 -
It was rushed as we had no tie to pick passes.0

If QPR could cross…1

A great point but awful performance. To have no shots on target and 28% possession at home is dire. Knibbs must be really shit in training to not get ahead of Carey ! I feel for Carey but he is offering nothing so far this season infact he puts pressure on us with his negativity with the ball. 3 points on Saturday and this will look like a great return from the opening games but I can’t see this performance tonight selling many tickets4

Great point. I’m assuming TC was onside so we should have won 1-0!
Look at the league table and take a breath.
