  • Oh good - ANOTHER thread about our away support. Get a fucking life.
  • [cite]Posted By: AFKA Bartram[/cite]its Boxing Day.

A short trip is Selhurst, or Qpr, or Watford, or Colchester, not Norwich.

And still a week and a half to go. I'm convinced we'll sell the allocation.

I'm not going, boxing day is for family. I can nip down the valley for 3 hours, but not get away for 8 hours plus. I suspect many others are in the same position.

I live twenty minutes away from Carrow Road. I have to say that I am thinking very hard about whether or not to go as it is Boxing Day and a family day as far as I'm concerned. I really wanted to go to this game but am miffed that it comes on Boxing Day, pretty much any other day I would go.
  • I'm not going boxing day is for family...

And christmas day used to be a 3pm kick off.
  • With a bit of luck, Bing, you should get away with that one?

Family day? Why not take all the family along to Carrow Road. I'm sure they'd love it!
    Only joking, of course. ;o)
  • Oggy, actually mate, I've played an absolute blinder! I showed Mrs BA my post. She said "well it would be a shame if you didn't go as it is just down the road. Its not as if you'll be out all day" - I made a half-hearted attempt to deflect her comment. Then said well I can take our son and give you a rest. Result!! Striking whilst the iron was hot, I went on to the OS and of course, despite them saying you could book tickets on line for this game, you can't! One day they'll sort this ticketing system out!!
  • I've only just been able to get back on and see the response to my thread. Suzi's post was an absolute classic. I of course accept anyone's right to go/not to go and that is entirely up to the individual and everyone's has different reasons for attending or otherwise and I havn't a problem with that. My circumstances (no kids, not through choice mind) and a very understanding wife who has her own time consuming interests means I am pretty much free to attend every game if I want and to date have except for Wolves. I admit I am lucky to be able to do so and also admit it won't carry on forever. I am not having a dig at anyone in particular but do think that, with the size of our home crowds, and our very good form on the road, our numbers are somewhat on the low side.

Nice one, Bing. Pleased for you - and sounds like your missus is quite pleased too - with her lads out of the house she can put her feet up, watch a film and hit the Xmas chocs.

Bet she was horror-struck at the thought of you lot being under her feet all day! :o)
  • " boxing day is a family day "............ bollox.

Every day should be a family day and using that is a poor excuse, or are we saying that the majority of fans never see there loved ones except for 2 days a year. if so, shame on you all.

Also, Narwich is less than 2 hours by car from s/e london.........hardly the end of the earth. If we cant sell out 1500 on boxing day then when will we.

Oh yes, QPR away - 19th april, 3rd last game of the ssaeson when all the glory boys will be there wanting to "celebrate" our promotion. I would have picked the 2nd to last game of the seson, but that's Barnslay away & you wont be going to that because (choose any bloody excuse you like except the obvious0.......YOU ARN@T REAL SUPPORTERS.

i'm going to barnsley away , does that mean i can comment on our away support ??
or can i only comment for a week or two around the barnsley fixture??

So why bother seeing your family on Christmas Day or your girlfriend on her Birthday or your wife on your anniversary? Ridiculous.

you are assuming golf that everyone has the same priorities/commitments (however big or small) as you. and that simply isn't true.

I don't have a car for example, so its not 2 hours away. i have 2 families to see over xmas, mine and my boyfriends, I feel for those who have divorced parents who have 4 sets to see. christmas is traditionally a time to see the family, and to not agree with that is poppy cock! yes, people can pick and choose when else to see their families, but for some, its the only time they can see them for a host of reasons I can't be arsed to go into cos this thread is going on for longer than it should already.

our home support is so large compared to our away support because the pull of new supporters who were pulled in when we were in the top flight, its not in their blood....yet, thats not to say that to those long standing fans haven't got it, but the percentage of home/away fans isn't a true reflection of our fans. How many man u/liverpool fans say they support their team but haven't been to old trafford/anfield? there are fickle fans and there are less well supported teams all over the place, instead of complaining, how about putting that energy and frustration you seem to have into cheering on the boys when you do your 2 hour car journey to norwich on boxing day instead of thinking of those who are having to miss out, for whatever reason.
  • i think 1,000 on boxin day to norwich is decent to be honest. only way of getin there car or coach, and people havin to see two sets of family over the xmas period.

look on the positive of it rather than the negative. 1000 is a fair few, 2/3 of our allocation at a ground that is not that close or easy for people to get to. the club were tryin to lay on more coaches from a more central location such as London Bridge for those people who dont live near charlton or Kent, but were worried about the lack of numbers.

More importantly we have a massive match tomo, and i am sure the 500 or so of us that do go will get behind them, as will the 1000 that go to Norwich.
  • i blame Andrew Mills.

    yawn
  • YAWN.......FFS isn't there anything else to talk about......like how I have the mother of all hangovers from my work bash last night and am now off for a massive fry up..

There must be a fair percentage of people who generally buy tickets late on - maybe they have to wait to be paid or perhaps just decide to go on impulse at the last minute.

Also depends on how we do against West Brom & Hull. Good results and people will buy next week and on Hull match day.

If those results go for us, I wouldn't mind betting we'll sell almost all our allocation.
  • [cite]Posted By: golfaddick[/cite]......YOU ARN@T REAL SUPPORTERS.

Of all your posts over the years Golfie this has got to be the biggest pile of bollocks of them all.....

My order of importance is 1) Family 2) Career 3) Charlton and to be told I'm not a real supporter because CAFC isn't my whole life doesn't sit well from someone who never has ANYTHING positive to say about the club, NEVER posts following a good display and moans and criticises the club at EVERY opportunity he can grasp.

Having said that I can fully understand why your nearest and dearest wouldn't be upset if you missed Xmas family time with them......Constantly moaning that the Cranberry Sauce isn't good enough, Turkey too dry, Red Wine not at room temperature, despite your wife having spent hours preparing it for you, as you have little or no appreciation of factors that effect other people, and assume that everyone sees everything the same way you do.
  • Don't hold back Dan. Ha ha ha
  • It's cos the market is slow... eh Dan.

    :)

top post dan couldn't agree more.

golf and large related - says it all.
  • edited December 2007
I agree with Dan's sentiments but I also know that Large and Golfie are fans and entitled to their views, depressing and predictable as Golfies are.

And just cos they are brothers doesn't mean they have to be tarred with the same brush.

  • To say people arent real supporters because they are not going on boxing day is one of the cruddiest things i've ever read on here.
  • Blimey this one has gone silly hasn't it!!

I'd personally LOVE to be going to Naaaardge on boxing day but I can't for same reasons as others on here.

I'm fed up with all this loyalty bollocks - we support to the level we're able to/prepared to and that's that. What others do is irrelevant.
  • Wonderful post Dan, excellent stuff

no they don't have to be tarred but they both talk the same amounT of tosh on the same subjects. they must contrive together to wind people up
  • i bet it will be a cracking day for those that do make it as all the fairweather fans like me will not be there.i doff my cap to anyone who does travel nowadays.never was so much owed by so many to so few

suzi's post was top notch and a lot closer to the truth than many would concede to.
