You sure? It's by far the worst stand in the stadium, with 2 great big pylons in the way of some of the seats.[/quote]
Take it you havent been to some of the s&!t holes in this country where you are exposed to the elements, treated like cattle, and you still have to pay to get in, i think the Jimmy Seed stand is a great away end and maintain should be for the home fans, would be a great atmosphere with both ends, and the away team would have no avantage what so ever
[cite]Posted By: Curb_It[/cite]there is no fee to get in the Con club... i think WSS just made that up.
They made me pay £1.50 last time i went in there for a night game. I think you can either do that or you pay for a "Match Day Pass" which is a tenner a year. FACT!

Yes i have been to plenty of rubbish grounds but i didn't think you were comparing it to those, you said it as though we gave them the best stand in the ground. Anyway this is way off track, Reclaim the Antigallican!!
The building of an additional bar in the car park would never be allowed or materialise for a number of reasons.
Firstly that it would back on to peoples houses so there would likely to be a mass residents objection that it is unfair to build bars etc at the end of their garden. The council would be extremely unlikely to support the building of another licenced premise, particularly to its location and proximity to so many licenced buildings.
Secondly, if it was somehow built and approved, you would need access to it. You couldn't walk your way in between cars to get to it. They would also be a safety angle of increased damage to cars and abuse in the car park to visiting players and directors. All bad PR potential
Thirdly, why would the club spend vast sums of money building something which is already covers ed by Bartrams, Crossbars, concourses and various lounges. It also needs the car park park not just on matchdays, but for the various functions it hosts during the week.
Its a nice idea that will never ever happen. The only way it would ever happen would be if there was a strong supporters club with a decent cash balance that could fund some form of premise somewhere. But it wouldn't be in that car park.
As for the Jimmy Seed, i agree, its a great away end. No thrills, and will a great echo.

Con Club is a either £2,50 on the day or tenners for the season, not bad, god brew in there, full of home fans, and local to the station
Re Con Club as i understand it OB had a "word" re the Club being used by known faces (years and years and years) so the Con Club asks the Doormen to check people are members or youpay. Curb It it could of course be your figure which gets you in for zilch or because the doorman knows you .(with Tavern etc etc). Why Ob should get involved at all is a joke maybe that aint got enough on chasing "home grown terrorists"(what ever thet are) or dealing with The Woolwich Boys/young Woolwich Boys ! The point re OB needs taking on board when saying ON ANY SITE "we should reclaim the Anti" Whilst it is 100% that the poeple saying it aint hoolies or have any naughty intentions OB are looking at any tiny thing re the Palarse game to be heavy handed. Watermans arms/ Doom and Gloom/Victoria all gone Charlton will be a booze free zone !
gotta say if you are gonna do it,Palace aint the best idea, coz unless you turn up well firm handed it could get naughty if you want to do it on a Saturday Preston would seem a good idea but heyho that's just my opinion.
Get nasty !!!! with Palarse ? so you mean that might actually find where Charlton is and it not being in Blackheath/Greenwich or Lewisham !! and no chance of "them" (who ever them might be) being in The Anti as its far to far from the nearest OB shop !
Agree though OB will be looking to pull, section 60 or nick anyone on that nite. There has to be a justification re them moving the game and their over time.

I always liked Henry's idea of a supporters' club buying the Oak, myself. Shame we don't have a body that's anywhere near strong enough for that to happen.
the re-taking bit was a bit tongue and cheek. Ideally the start of a season is the right time to change things like this.
But the bottom line is there will now be 200 odd people who frequent the H&G that will now have to find somewhere else to drink. Where ? The Oak certainly can't take any more than what it does.
Yet here on our doorstep, is the most spacious, well decorated and largest bar boozer in the vaccinity, and its just handed over to away fans.
Why should away fans have a designated pub anyway ? The vast majority of away fans who drink in the anti are those that get the train. In that case, there is no reason why they can't drink at London Bridge or Charing X, or even stop off in Greenwich. No away fans drink round Millwall's ground, yet the police don't seem to have a problem with that.
In fact it would be easier to police, because the only way away fans could congregate in large numbers would be from the station, which is easier for them control. After the game, there would also be little chance of away groups hanging round for a couple of pints, they would simply get back on the train.
Its worth considering, and it would be beneficial Charlton fans and the police. As sais, away fans adapt when at Millwall, so its not a precedent.
Whilst i agree with Palace perhaps not being the best choice of game to reclaim it, plenty on here half days off or half days so would be about early. If we did say meet in there from 3 onwards like Ketman mentioned earlier and word got round, it'd be full with Charlton by about 5pm.
So surely then the police would stop Palace fans from going there rather than kicking us out just to let them in which would cause trouble.
Gotta say the state of our pubs is a bit depressing.
Charlton Village too far Anchor, good in summer but too far Oak, rubbish service, lost character Doom and Gloom, shut Bartrams (The nice Somalian lady put a top in the guinness I ordered on Saturday) Rose of Denmark is ok, bit oldy woldy though Others on the Woolwich Rd, too Millwall like
i'd say the argument to reclaim the antigallican would have to be reviewed at the end of the season and if we were to remain in the CCC it would be strengthened given that only 2 or 3 clubs will sell the full allocation so normally we won't have more than 2k away fans. whereas, every premiership club except Fulham, Blackburn, Wigan and Boro (2 of those could easily not be there next year) would be likely to sell theirs
had a couple of hours in the antigallican before i went to the hawthorns and really enjoyed myself, had a nice chat with the charlton fan behind the bar and will be going there on saturday to watch the watford game, reclaim the antigallican!!

on-site firm clubhouses that they spend more on than the stadiums themselves (besides Ajax of course)
now we know what's wrong with english football!
