    Not forgetting his general level of "enthusiasm" (or indeed his being involved in the Wycombe debacle), I think Len Glover might actually be on to something here. If we're gonna pay his wages, there might be times when playing Faye isn't such a bad idea. I'd hate to send the wrong message to the young guns who show such hunger, but what are the two positiions most of us seem to feel need strengthening? Cover at CB, which he did adequately in the Prem, and a strong anchor man (that was ANCHOR!). We'd all love our midfield general to storm forward and rattle in a dozen goals for good measure, but who can we realistically afford to do that? When we want to protect the kids, we could perhaps do a lot worse - as long as he can be arsed (I don't feel he's nearly as much of a skiver as Bender; sometimes it might genuinely be just his style that doesn't win many friends). Last night he did at times look comfortably better than most of his team-mates, albeit in the usual first gear.

    As much as I see the argument in if we are paying Faye we should use him, I really think we should back the players who are here and want to be here. If that means we end up with a team of kids then so be it, at least we may get some pride back in the shirt as opposed to the large number of mercenaries that we have employed over the last 4 seasons.
