We've really got some great youngsters coming through. Fantastic innings by Alex Blake today - 80 runs in 70 balls on his first real opportunity. Kent's answer to Shelvey ??? Ha!
And as said above, the St Lawrence redevelopment is back on track ( KCCC members meeting on Sept 14 to vote it through).
The only minus point (apart form the poor performance in the 20-20 semifinal last weekend, of course) is that Ryan McLaren is leaving at the end of this season...
However, with all the youngsters we've now got coming through - Blake, Dixey, Coles, Lee and Northeast to name but five - we're not going to miss him as much as we might have done.
Arise Sir Derek Ufton. Every team of which he is a board member is currently top of its league !!!
McLaren hasn't been as good as in previous years, he was missing for the start of the season whilst he 'played' in the IPL and Kent barring him from playing for SA didn't help. A shame really, because he was a real stalwart for a couple of years.
As you say a lot of youngsters are coming through, I hope they stick to their guns and keep playing them in the Pro 40 and not revert to the first team against Surrey this week.
There is a coach load of CAFC fans young and old going down to the St.Lawrence Ground on Thursday night to see us stuff woeful Surrey (The Millwall of cricket). Led by yours truely.

Looking forward to it as is AA Junior's Kid Brother!!!
Didn't see yesterday's game but I was extremely impressed with Blake's cameo innings last week when, although he only made 21, he batted with a certain touch of class. The future looks bright.
