Patty Hurst Shifter are excellent. From Raleigh, North Carolina , the same town as Ryan Adams - which explains why Ryan cites them as his favourite band.
PHS's drummer Skillet Gilmore used to be in Whiskeytown with Ryan, and married Whiskeytown's Caitlin Carey.
We included a PHS track (I think from their Too Crowded for the Losing End album) on an Uncut covermount cd a few months ago and it got an amazing response from Uncut readers.
