Lord Of The Rings. Utterly awesome.

Other than that, The Machinist, Snatch, Memento, 28 Days Later, Lady In The Water, The Village and Donnie Darko spring to mind

Best: Gra Torino, There Will Be Blood, And a western starring Robert Duvall and Kevin Costner: blowed if I can remember its name! Anyone? (Old-timers alert).

Worst: Meet the Trojans, although Carmen Electra might make a good 'would ya', In Bruges: just couldn't understand those two Irish fellas! Spoilt it for me.

Best: Bruno - the only film that has made me nearly die of an Asthma attack through laughing so much in my cinema seat. Honourable mentions for Snatch, Anchorman, Hangover (that made me really giggle), Zack and Miri make a porno and Casino Royale.

Worst: Mall Cop - dont even think it made the cinema, downloaded from the web and was truly the worst film I've ever seen.

You almost had me. To be fair there's equal dubious material on serious lists.

    Gladiator, simple as

The Hangover is one of the most offensively bad, unfunny films I have ever had the displeasure of sitting through. Like an unfunny version of Dude Where's my Car. In fact I was so upset that people found that funny it's untrue.

40 year old virgin takes the hangover outside and kicks the shit out of it

    So does Anchorman

American Pie 3 was good, and Role Models, and Superbad... And Knocked up, forgetting Sarah Marshall was pretty amusing too, but the hangover was atrocious

Lucky Number Slevin is the only great film that none of you have mentioned that my brain can remember

would go for one of these as the best:

    walk the line
    let the right one in
eternal sunshine of the spotless mind
    hotel rwanda

worst: underworld 3 was pretty poor

Not a bad shout that. How about 9 Queens. If you like a twisty "who's doing who" plot I can't think of anything better structured, except maybe The Hangover

Lol gladiator be up there for me also Matrix which hasnt been mentioned

each to their own but i and eveyone bar my mum that has seen it has said its the funniest film they have seen in ages, which i agree. cant see how you dont think it is funny? you must have a very dry sense of humour im guessing, havent heard anyone else give such a bad review of it other then as i said my mum and even though she didnt like it and didnt find funny she was still laughing all the way through it.... i just think she thought it was inappropiate not unfunny!

i'd agree with your other films but dont think any, well maybe superbad are in the same league as hangover but it is all about opinions after all

Thnk someone mentioned Memento. What a great film. The only film i think ive talked about extensively for days after seeing it. Like a puzzle & a masterpiece at the same time.
  • [cite]Posted By: Leroy Ambrose[/cite]Lady In The Water, The Village
It was all that I could do to not hurl my shoes at the screen, and in the case of the village most of the cinema were openly laughing when I saw it. As you've got some excellent, overlooked movies in your list I'm genuinely interested. Can you explain why you liked these? Or are you M Night Shyamalan making a trademark cameo on Life?

I thought the village was really good too. Thinking your watching a period drama, only to find out its set in modern times. I guess because it's a bit different the run of the mill shooting/chasing/fighting/puking/boring movies that tend to get made today. Of course it's incredible that people wouldn't have figured it out and that noone ever came blundering in on them, but so what, it's just a story.

Isn't the Village set in Pennsylvania? having lived there for 3 years i can tell you its not far off the truth!
  • So hard to pick just one...but mine would be

Sexy Beast- Dancer in the Dark - The Royal Tennanbauns - Memento - Old Boy - Superbad - City of God - Waltz With Bashir - A Scanner Darkly - Michael Clayton - Syriana - Crash

Loads more I know...but those spring to mind straight away

You think the Hangover was atrocious but you liked Role Models and Forgetting Sarah Marshall? Strange.
Must say you're the first person i've ever heard not like the Hangover.

Perhaps not the best of the decade but District 9 was certainly one of the most original and enjoyable films of the 00s (just).
