What I find amazing is that out of the millions upon millions of pints needed to save lives that within this thread alone two or three people have benefited from doners.
NHS Blood DonationHi folks, just starting out at University ? Good luck ! Our teams are busy in the coming weeks attending Freshers Fairs and we could be coming to your Uni. Check out the 'events' tab for this week's locations, more will be posted throughout the coming weeks, hope to see you there !
Well done to all who do this. Have been giving regularly for 15 years now and up to over 40 donations. Can't wait to get over 50. Will be giving again on the 23rd September.
One of the things Im most proud of doing. Im interested in this platelets thing though, anything I can do to help a lil more im willing to do. Just did a little research myself in to the platelets donation thing and found a couple of sites which were useful in telling me whether you can and how they did it also.
Hopefully, this will make other people to give either blood, platelets or preferably both. Im certainly going to enquire in to the platelets donation now that I know about it, its a shame they don't advertise it more. I had no idea!!
NHS Blood DonationAs soon as the leaves start falling this autumn, so do our blood stocks. Our new radio adverts are appealing for new donors and people who have given blood before to do it again.
You can make an appointment at blood.co.uk or by calling 0300 123 23 23. Thank you !
Not wishing to kick a hornets nest, but what is the situation with those who are not hetrosexual? I understand that they can give blood now. Is this the case?
I'm only asking as I regard giving blood as a sign of being a 'proper bloke.'

My top tip for anyone that gives blood.
When they stick the needle in your arm shout a rude word begining with F and ending in uck.
Because the young attractive female nurse will think you are being extra brave and give you a cuddle, the
old granny who makes the tea will give you your drink first as she thinks you are being brave as well and
you get to swear loudly in front of young attractive nurses and old grannies!
I used to give blood when I was in the UK.
Here in Australia I am not allowed to, in case I pass Mad Cow Disease on to the local population!!
The Blood Donor with Tony Hancock, makes most of today's so called television comedy looks like the complete and utter garbage it is.
