Sat next to a Lovely lady, in her 80s I would guess, I watched my language just out of respect even though I was at a football match.
Perhaps that sums it up: respect or consideration for others.

I dont think anything was said about being disrespectful Andy, what I said was ' I watched my language out of respect for the Lady' If that Lady had been your Mother/Grandmother would you want a 'foul mouthed yob' F***** and B******* in her earshot the whole game, because trust me I could be that person ; )
