I think if Liverpool can land Ashley Young from villa, Carroll we score loads. I would rather Carroll in my team than a sulky Torres who hasn't done much since before the world cup.
Well, I expect outrage from the press at this fee after the grief over DB's fee - and he's done it season after season in the Prem and never been arrested...think Villa have got themselves a bargain. We'll see what Liverpool have got...
Seems like a bit of fan appeasement to me. If Liverpool sold Torres for a sackload of cash and then didn't make any big moves (Suarez was already in the pipeline), their fans would be up in arms. It would be a PR disaster for the American owner, who would look like he just wants to siphon off all the cash he can.
Newcastle have played their hand really well - they know Liverpool are desperate - rejecting £25m this morning. I bet if Liverpool had offered £25m on Jan 1st, Mike Ashley would have bitten their hand off.
It will be interesting to see which of all the top striker signings scores the most goals for thier new club by the end of the season. Also the impact they have on the club as a whole. It could turn out that bent wont score another goal this season and carroll gets 20, if that was the case villa's wouldn't be such a bargain. No one will know until the season unfolds. If as it looks Torres ends up at chelsea and liverpool end up finishing above them because of carrolls goals then surely carroll would be a snip. The one thing i do know is that Kenny does know a little bit about forwards so he see's something.
Also agree, I hate the way everyone was saying that Bent's price was ridiculous when he is proven. Whereas Carroll could go either way and still has a lot to prove.

But he's barely worth 15 million, never mind 35 million! There are silly transfers, amazing transfers, stupid transfers and now there are hilarious transfers too. Whatever happened to paying the amount a player is worth?
You got 35 million quid to spend, how many teams would go 'Tevez, Rooney, Torres, Eto'o, Ibrahimovic or Villa, I know let's pick the tart roasting, ponytailed oik from Newcastle, Carroll'
It just beggars belief, but hey ho
Alan Pardew's having a f****** party on this, and I think Carroll will be turfed out in 2 years time, his career slipping down the pan........

Villa have won three games in a row since DB has gone there - and he's just scored one goal in that time. Sometimes a signing like that can do more for the team overall.
ISaw - yes, I posted on this thread before seeing the various similar comments on the deadline day one!

He's worth whatever someone will pay for him, they were hardly likey go for Torres was they? seeing that they are just about to get £50m for him. City wouldn't sell tevez to Liverpool likewise with manu can you really see them selling rooney to liverpool for £35m. So with the players that are available for sale i do think he is one of the best forwards in the prem and is English. Whether he is worth £35m is another question, personally i dont think anyone is but that dont stop people paying that for them.

[cite]Posted By: Wheresmeticket?[/cite]I hat to say it, but Pardews earnt his fee...he'll have to royally f*ck up to get the boot any time soon after this
What's it got to do with Pardew ? Surely you don't think Pardew does the transfer negotiations ?

No, but I do think he has some influence on how his players perform, and therefore influences their sell-on value

In that case then it's even less down to Pardew since Caroll's been injured pretty much since he arrived.

Do me a favour. So you're crediting Pardew for the fact that Liverpool are willing to spunk £35M on Carroll ?
Also, as Bournemouth has just said I don't think he's hardly played for Pardew.

Such is the demands of present day footballers, the hold up is over' image rights'...... where have you heard that before!
20 years ago a footballer, wanted to play for a team to win silverware, or because he dreamed of playing for a top team, or a team that was his schoolboy dream.
Today's 'velcro' loyalty, and panderings to the caprice demands of these 'celebrities', owe more second rate pop stars than professional footballers!.
I wonder what Bill Shankly would be thinking these day's.......
"The socialism I believe in isn't really politics. It is a way of living. It is humanity. I believe the only way to live and to be truly successful is by collective effort, with everyone working for each other, everyone helping each other, and everyone having a share of the rewards at the end of the day. That might be asking a lot, but it's the way I see football and the way I see life."
Bill on his philosophy of life.....where do I sign Bill!
I'm glad Harry Redknapp said about the nonsense of Carroll handing in a transfer request and the deal only going through because of this. As he said, Newcastle were never going to turn that money down and just want to make themselves look better, whilst vilifying the departing Carroll.

He didn't sound bitter about missing out on a striker at all!

Excellent bit of business for Newcastle. Liverpool he's a massive gamble. Has potential but I have seen better.
