[cite]Posted By: supaclive[/cite]Am I A £35m Striker?
I scored 24 goals helping my side win promotion back to the Premier League aged just 22.
Then in my first season in the top flight I had bagged an impressive 15 goals by the end of January. Including a goal against the reigning
champions, away at Arsenal and in a home win over Liverpool. My form earned me an England call-up and my debut in an international friendly.
Am a I £35m striker?
No I am Michael Ricketts, February 2002.
haha He was a very overrated player in my opinion!
[quote][cite]Posted By: Eddie Firmani[/cite]Sorry, don't know what happened with the link - basically, Ashley is selling Carroll Liverpool shirts already.[/quote]
I think Carroll will be ok with the pressure, he has a certain "I don't give a toss" attitude which suggests to me that if the crowd at Liverpool get on his back that it won't affect his game. The problem he'll have is keeping out of trouble off the pitch.
Can we please stop with the Pardew-Partridge associations...I'm not having one of my favourite comedy characters of all time being brought down to that level.
These are - of course - just normal shirts with the player's name and number printed on the back. When Talkingspurt start going on about shirt sales I wonder if they think that these shirts wouldn't sell anyway. The vast majority of the folk that buy a Torres shirt would buy an Essien shirt if Torres wasn't at their club. It's a nothing measure.

Not true - signing a world class centre forward with the number 9 on his back is what gets Dads to go out and buy a shirt midway through a season.

I watched Andy Carroll tonight in the Stoke game and he was very poor, people are going to be asking serious questions about spending 35 million on this bloke unless he ups his game very quickly.
He just look so immobile - mind you most people would compared to the excellent Suarez - and his touch looks very heavy too - that's before you even get to his Leaburnesque finishing when they create chances for him.
For mine I reckon Liverpool would be better off with Suarez and Bellamy as their front two.
The lads probably a bit better than his current form, but his big move came way too early. I think a lot of Newcastle fans were pretty shocked with how well he started last season and there was always a question mark if he could maintain the form.

That's true and I think you can add into the mix that he is clearly not the most disciplined of athletes, in the second half of the game he looked very heavy legged and was slaughtered by Woodgate and Whelan.

Are you trying to tell me that there's a footballer out there who is less fit than Woodgate?
Carroll might be a success in the long run but at the time of his signing for liverpool it was just another sign of what is wrong in football. 35 million for an unproven top level striker.
He plays a bit like Tony Hateley, problem is Tony is 70 years old
Hmmm, I am too young to remember Tony Hateley but you have a point about his son Mark, I suppose he and Andy Carroll are quite similar in terms of their style of play - and their dreadful taste in hairstyles.
Woodgate is arguably the most talented English centre back of his generation, he's certainly better than Terry or Carragher and right up there with Ferdinand. Unfortunately for him (and England) he's made of already broken biscuits.

Apologies if anyone has already raised this. Now, who owns Sports Direct, remind me?
Could be that Partridge will have even more to spend.
He can't lose!
....with free agent Jeremie Aliadiere. Linked with a host of League One clubs over January but noone took a punt on him.
Torres shirt sales are currently selling 25 to everyone 1 Carroll shirt sold.

I wonder if bwp and rhodes would be a good partnership. not a link but could get on the end of through balls etc.
Carrol is not that great.
If he was spanish italian german argentinian brazillian he wouldnt of even been thought about being put in the national side

Apparently Woodgate is very fit aerobically it is just that his body can't cope with the strain of too much football.
