Well 67% of our confident brethren called it correctly.

Powelly's boys march on, 3 out of 3 now.

If you're in the car, on the coach or on the train back, post your post-match thoughts here.

  • Difficult conditions. 3 clear chances of which one we took. Not too dissimilar to previous games. No stand out performances. Great save from Robbie from a certain Fry own goal.

Pleased with the result, still hope there's plenty to come.
  • Powell the first manager in our history to have won his first three games.
  • First CAFC manager to win his first 3 games (I believe) ... 3 wins, 3 clean sheets, and games in hand ... with an in-form striker ... this is going to be a fun few weeks.

Rode our luck a bit, but we beat an in-form team away from home.
  • Delighted with this string of results. Showing to be a good appointment already with the improvement defensively

    cheers WSS, safe journey home.
  • Sounded as though we got lucky on a few occassions though.....mind you its about time we had the rub of the green....and as they say you make your own luck.
BWP's goal sounded like a good header, Robbie made some important saves, and we got away with a few 'scarey moments'.
Sets us up nicely for the Posh next week....well done to those that went and well done to CP and team.
  • Powell's lack of experience concerns me

    LOL
  • As Chris Powell has stated, if you keep a clean sheet you are always going to pick something up. Is it just coincidence that we have not conceeded a goal since he came in?
  • Sounded as though we didn't play very well

Think we've been a little lucky these past two games to get 6 points. Need to improve if we are to put a big run together for a automatic place

sounded a hard fought brave battle with us missing a good chance before we scored.

theres a resillance within the team, still think we are riding our luck a bit without an out and out baller in the middle, but you know what some might say its better sometimes to be a lucky manager, i cant help but feel the timing of everything just seems to be going our way, weve picked up a proper goal scorer for next to nothing powelly has got us defending better especially Francis and if he can keep defending better you can tolerate the miss placed passes, when he was doing that and being caught out of postion then it was harder to accept.

We seem solid we seem assured and we seem to be hitting a real patch of form

the chrissy powell affect is taking hold exactly as many of us had hoped for.

3 wins 3 clean sheets up to 5th games in hand on 2nd, keep our heads down working hard come in on the blind side of those around us, still to play the closest rival for 2nd twice it is in our hands

would rather we are grinding out results going through this transition.

wind played its part in the first half, Yeovil bang in form at the moment

    happy in enfield tonight

  • Loan window to open next week. I really hope we can get a midfield playmaker and centre half in. Two good additions now could really set us up. Well done today for a hard fought 3 points.

CP giving a good 'live' interview to the Radio now.....build on clean sheets, play as a team, had words with them at half-time and players responded. Want everyone except Robbie to celebrate a goal with the scorer. Its going to take time...great start.....show resolve.....sleeping well and looking forward to next 3 games, but it will be tough. BWP has thconfidence to take goals after missing an earlier great chance. He sounded well pleased.

Just to add that he thought the first half was completely forgettable!!!
  • chris powell...when we score i want all players to celebrate
  • Very happy with this. CP seems to be slowly changing the way we play and how other teams feel about us. I felt under Parky that teams felt we were a bit of a pushover and even if we were 1 or 2 goals up they could come back and win. More resilience now. Still work to be done of course (primarily a creative midfielder) but we're heading in the right direction. Very pleased and long may it continue. :)
  • Great result. Any away win is good but this came against the divisions form side.

We continue our excellent away form to match the improving home record plus 2 in 2 from BWP. what a difference a little money to spend makes.

All in our hands now. Win all our games and we go up. Just 20 more wins please lads : - )

    Onwards and upwards.

    Jingle bells jingle bells
    Jingle all the way
Oh what fun it is to see
    Charlton win away
  • Lets take into consideration. Yeovil's form with only 1 loss in 9 league matches before our visit.
3 out of 3 and still only in second gear - Brilliant.
  • cant doubt the impact he has had on the back 4, which i couldnt understand under parkinson, parkinson himself was a more than adequate defender he shouldve known what was needed to shore them up and it was not coming through,

Francis is a better defender by 30 or 40% since powelly came in and sounded extreemly assured today on the radio if anything Fry sounded the weaker of the 2
  • Or maybe Francis was never as bad as he was being painted by some on here.
  • If we extrapolate SCP's current run, the Champions League trophy will be paraded through the streets of Greenwich in May 2014.
  • no he was as bad henners, without a doubt he was constantly out of position by 5 or 6 yds often the wrong side of players and very un assured on the ball in the defensive third of the game, when you added to that that he could cross the ball 10 times and only get it to the player he wanted once or twice often failing to beat the first man with the ball and his clumsy first touch which often resulted in his 2nd touch attempting a tackle.

since the arrival of powell he is slowly remembering his defensive position and then you can accept the poor delivery aspect.

seems to be one player who is improving and thriving under the powelly stewardship

  • i see that frazer richardson isnt playing maybe get him on loan?
  • I think Francis has been shocking at times, last few months he's been improving though. Just keep him away from taking set pieces
  • [cite]Posted By: coltsgoalie[/cite]i see that frazer richardson isnt playing maybe get him on loan?
    injured
  • Improving no doubt but how has he gone from 'worst Charlton player ever' only this week to decent player?

Maybe its that before people only wanted to see the bad in him and other players but now they only want to see the good.

Halo and horns. Look it up on wiki.
  • Francis showing he is a decent player just confirms what a lot of people said - Parky has a good eye for a player. He just couldn't get performances out of them consistently. Powell is at the moment and hopefully will keep doing so.
  • wiki is full of nonsense,

i havent said he is a decent player i said he an improving player if he puts in 10 more performances like today and the majority of Tuesday night then who knows

one swallow dont make a summer look it up on Youporn
  • So, back up to 5th - just where Parky left us - nothing changes ;-)

Great result against a form team, wasn't there so can't comment on the performance but good to be winning again and if we can beat Posh at home next then it will start to get very interesting.

Make your mind up mate. Was he ' extreamly assured' or not? : - )

Scoham is right. We always had good players but we weren't getting the best out of them as individuals or as a team as often as we should. Check out the 'Theo, Andy, Phil and Damian' article

  • he sounded extreemly assured but hen those two fellas commentating spent much of the game laughing at yeovil players and the mistake by fry.

ithe fact that he was not mentioned for anything bad bar his crossing from dead balls, either meant he had little to do or was putting in a good defensive shift
