  • [cite]Posted By: Bexleyheath_Red[/cite]Rothko, is the crossrail really going to Abbeywood ?, now that would be handy for me.

Yup. It'll actually start/finish at Abbey Wood, which will be handy if you want a seat! (no guarantee it'll actually get built, mind)

    more info
  • The car free days they run in Central Greenwich once a year show it would not be too difficult to change the one way system every Sunday to have it the same.

However I live in Charlton and work in just the other side of Central Greenwich, I can't get a reasonable train journey there are no busses that go from a-b only ones that go from a-c-d-b as it were I would just have to pay it, though I suppose if it saved 30 mins.....
  • I'd imagine *if* this happens (and it's a very big if) then extra buses and new routes would be thrown on to try to tempt people away from their cars - since that's what happened with the central London zone. I don't think anyone would even dare pretend the 177 and 180 can cope even now, going by bus from Charlton to Greenwich is only an activity for those with loads of time on their hands...
  • Just looked at the maps if I want to drive to the pleasaunce it's £8.....
  • In my opinion it wont be that long until they spread this charge all over including saturdays and sundays!
My advice start planning for your future this country is a rip off!
  • Its the price we pay for living in/just outside the capital.

    much cheapr opp north.

You need a loo on a 15/20 journey? Don't see Tube trains with them?

That's cos they run underground - the shit would stink something chronic after a few minutes.

And as for the Oyster card - you got shares in Tfl or something?

Yeah sorry for making a point about fares in London when people have made a point about them. Ho hum

And mean while not addressed why Paris, Berlin, Madrid and most other major cities around the globe can offer a whole days tube travel for less than the price of a single Oyster journey.

Maybe the overheads in Tokyo are just so much cheaper..............

Cause they've had a belief in investing in transport, which we in this country, the subsidy in Paris is huge, either you pay through tax or through fares, the difference in this country, people don't want to do either

  • Not every country subsidies public transport mate. It all boils down to efficiency. Something Ken cannot claim. The whole of the GLC is a waste of time and money and should be scraped
  • The GLC was scrapped in 1986.
  • Same shit......
  • Different shit, completely.

And the body you're probably referring to (the Greater London Assembly, which keeps Ken in check) is pretty evenly-split between Labour and Tory and other groups - actually stops Ken from doing quite a few things he'd like to do.
  • I was talking in terms of yet another layer of red tape
