It is indeed. The one that was Charltonised but who went on to play over 300 games for Bournemouth and a vital cog in Eddie Howe's defence from League 1 to the Championship to the Premier League.
Was truly awful for us. One of the worst players in a bad team. Couldn't believe he went on to do what he did at Bournemouth.
I really don't get it when people say something like I've paid my money so I can have my say ( eg laying into the likes of fox and Francis) .Laying into someone in their workplace,in theory someone you ought to support and encourage ,just wouldn't be allowed in a different environment.
Some of our fans were awful to him and his confidence evaporated.
Mind you…..he was utter shyte.😏
Never get fans who get a buzz out of digging out their own players. Hopefully it makes them feel better.
Embarassing to hear the stick some players have had to endure. Not sure what the logic is?
Morgan Fox had to hear plenry of abuse....
Nick Pope too. Our fans used to sarcastically cheer when he caught the ball. The same Nick Pope who has been the best cross claimer in the premier league for nearly 8 years. They never learn and still purposefully knock our own players confidence now
I've never got why some fans constantly dig out certain players.
People like Spongefoot Church seemed to get away with murder whereas Francis was lynched pretty much from day one. Churchy ALWAYS looked crap in my opinion whereas Francis had such a good delivery but we rarely saw it because he got vilified from day one and his confidence disappeared.
I see the same thing on social media when someone comes up with an opinion on a player and then loads of others just jump on that bandwagon and spout the exact same shit. Do they not realise players read it? their family read it? It definitely affects them.
Pleased for Francis because he was harshly treated here but has gone on to do fabulously well - who knows. maybe his experience at Charlton made him what he is!
Looked back at squad then. Nathan Ecclestone, remember him? Only made 86 appearances in his career and 21 of those were for us on loan from Liverpool. I thought he was decent, shows what I know!

He was sat with Jonjo Shelvey in our end at Tranmere in our 2012 promotion season so for that I hold him in high regard. Can't recall him as a player but I like that he gave up his afternoon to come and watch us.

Another player i have absolutely no memory of even though i definitely would have seen him play . My memory is shot.

He certainly wasn't anywhere near as bad as some claim - all very OTT.

Just looked up Churchy on wiki. I'm sure he scored more than 5 goals for us?!
Off the top of my head:
Shef Wednesday away in FA Cup Huddersfield away in FA Cup Doncaster at home (flood replay) Blackburn away in League
I've recalled 4 within 20 seconds. This is rattled me. 5 cannot be correct.

I'm pretty sure he was our top scorer in his first season with us. Fairly sure he scored double figures.
I remember years ago Kevin Lisbie being a target. Myself and @LenGlover being pretty much the only posters on here to back him, week in, week out. What would we give to have a striker capable of scoring a hatrick against Liverpool these days!
From memory he really struggled defensively as a RB with us, the fans lost patience and got on his back and destroyed his confidence. He probably had some muppet playing in front of him and didn't get forward much. My memory fails. At Bournemouth he had licence to get forward, was dynamite as a wing back and a great crosser of the ball. Once he got his confidence back and knew he was loved and trusted he excelled, even as a centre back and captain. A salutary lesson I think
I recall a couple of pundits on here (long gone probably with early onset dementia) opined that he was THE worst ever to wear the shirt, a real f f s considering some of the loons who've played for us (played being a term of art)
His first game for us, I can't recall v who, he put in an absolute pinpoint cross for Alan McCormack (a k a Oxo) to head his one and only goal for us (was it also Oxo's debut ?) What we'd give today for one who could cross that like. Oxo was another who was slated and hated by 'the fans'. He went on to have a pretty decent career over the next ten years, especially at Brentford
Also remember Francis leaving the team bus somewhere in the far west I recall, and going home as his Mrs was in labour. I got pelters on here for saying that the game and the team should always come before watching the Mrs struggle through giving birth

In those days the red flag facility was here, you should have been given a few!
