Certainly think he has the potential to be. Let's face it, the main attribute that most players lack to make the step up is pace. Don't really see that as a weakness in his game.
He is quality going forward, but does he have what it takes at the back?
Definitely. I recall a fantastic challenge on Premier League-bound Jordan Rhodes in our box where he went in with a brilliant tackle and came away with the ball as well. He has a brilliant knack for playing his way out of danger without inviting unnecessary pressure at the back. Tends to dive into blocks with his arms up though, which is the only real criticism I have
If Rhoys has got his head screwed on ( and I'm sure he has) surely he'd want to continue his development under one of England's finest left backs, I'm sure he'll get there in the end with us, I'm not quite sure what brand, but Rhoys has been "Different Gravy" for us this season.

I think he's every bit as good defensively as he is going forward. Don't recall him getting the run around from anyone. He closes down quickly, stops balls coming in from dangerous areas and always seems to be in the right place. I don't see any obvious weaknesses in his game. He's a Premier league footballer to be.

Bisto for sure, Mendonca !
As long as it's not oxo............brings back bad memories.
I remember hearing a few Bournemouth fans saying Wiggins was suspect in defending, have to say i have not seen any suspect defending. Even if he does get beat he always catches up with the player to get at them again. Brilliant athlete.
I was informed last week that Wiggo was going to the Massives for 700k. It was mentioned on here that he had failed a medical. Have we had confirmation of that?

Some well followed guy on Twitter says the clubs are negotiating
RHOYS Wiggins’ move to Sheffield Wednesday has hit a snag. The left-back was expected to complete a medical and sign terms on Tuesday but finalising the contract seems to have held up the transfer. Further details in tomorrow’s South London Press.
If Rhoys is considered good enough to improve a Wednesday side that apparently have set their sights on promotion, why the bloody hell don't we hang onto him? He was a hell of a player before injury! I can only assume that Berdych must be mustard!!

He would potentially be our third choice left back - I can't imagine that's what he would want too. I like Wiggins but he's been held up due to injuries and think he's on a par with Fox in terms of ability. Fox is potentially cheaper and has the potential to get better whereas Wiggins has probably hit his peak.
I'd like to see Wiggins used as a left sided midfielder as his strength was always going forward.
Any fee for an injury prone player is a good deal.
As fans, what we shouldn't forget is the loyalty he showed to cafc when we were doing shite by signing that long term deal. For that reason (and his part in our record breaking season) - he will always get my respect.
Like others have said just hasnt been the same since that Palace game. Shame was certainly one of my top players prior to that. Nothing quite like watching him bomb down the left flank
Fox is still improving as he has shown defensively, and with the two best crosses in the West ham game, he's hit the ground running. They may be massive but Wednesday don't want to match CAFC wages so Wiggin's will either have to get fit and fight for his place or will he be banished to the U21, which every club seem to do now when they want to move players on. If you get a good contract like Rhoys, you need to be available for most games that is the reality of modern football outside the Prem.
Rhoys wasn't injury prone at that age... #justsaying
Can we clear a few points up here?
The injury Rhoys got against Palace early in our first season back in the champ, WAS not his first problem.
That was when he ruptured his knee ligaments as an 18 year old back in 2006 when as a Palace player on a pre season tour in the USA.
I heard this from Rhoys himself ,and it's on Wiki. Because they rated him, Warnock gave him a new contract but Wiggins lost about a year after that injury.
The Irony is the move to Sheffield has broken down over personal terms and not the myriad of different injury issues.
No @soapboxsam we're not saying it wasn't his first injury however it was the first one that started to cause him regular issues for >US<
It's clear looking at the fact Rhoys has over 100 appearances for us that his injury on our championship return was the start of his problems for us.
When Rhoys was 22 he was playing regularly for Bournemouth looking so assured and at ease he was approached and brought into a Charlton side where he immediately cemented himself as first choice LB by the age of 23 In a team that won the league comfortably.
This isn't forgetting it was a selection by the clubs most renowned left back of recent times Chris Powell, who might just know something about that position.
If Rhoys is able to get fit wherever he goes, I can almost guarantee him being a success and fan favourite. as a defender he still has 5-7 years time left to be playing in the top 2-3 leagues.
Fox is what 21/22? I can't see him over the next 12-24 months being anywhere near assured as Rhoys was when joining us.
Luckily for you Luzon doesn't seem to agree. We will see if he comes good as Bergdich is our only other option with any real experience and I think he is going to be more of a LM.

Sorry but late on this thread but I happen to think fox is a poor mans Paul Sturgess and a poorer mans Jamie Stuart

Unfavourably to Jamie Stuart is unfair !

He knows he will fail it otherwise. #madeupfact
