I Need A Hobby - Suggestions

I'm 56 and feel I need a hobby or at least something to keep me occupied. There is so much rubbish on tv and only so much time I feel like reading. Never had a hobby before other than Charlton. I just know you will all be helpful with your suggestions ;0)

Plenty of woods close to home so dogging might be an option

    :-)

Being serious what about something like orienteering?

Scenery and exercise at your own pace and standard.

    Poker.

U can play for free if you dont want it to cost you anything..

Alternatively if you have enough that you are happy to lose eg. £10-£100 and you have a chance to win money, if you want any advice jus speak to me i have fb, msn and skype so can talk you through the fundementals or you can watch me play so you get an idea.

If you manage wat ever you put on well then you may not ever need to deposit again, who knows you could enjoy it if you like cards or winning money.

I would recommend either Pokerstars of Skypoker as sites to play on but again happy to talk in more detail

Photography? Something very easy to fit into your spare time as you can do it alone, and you can choose to take pictures of what interests you, too - nature, architecture, people....

Research the oldest pubs in Britain and visit them all giving them a rating out of ten for food, drink and atmosphere

Birdwatching. Gets you out in the fresh air, back in touch with nature. Surprisingly addictive.

learning a language is something i really want to do. I think it's a lot of work but ultimately one of the most rewarding hobbies to have.

Not sure how this works, but it told me my hobby should be automotive repair. Can't think of anything less suitable really.

Thankyou one and all for the suggestions so far.

    Not sure where to start.

I'm not at all artistic so anything along those lines is doubtful.
    Photography see above.
Fishing, Archery,Bird watching, Shooting and Golf all are too time consuming. As is orienteering.
Volunteering would need to much compassion from someone who works with cancer patients every day and is all compassioned out.
Pigeon racing ? I would just always lose ;0)
    Poker - see pigeon racing.
After much thought I have also rejected Lens "dogging" in Oxleas woods ;0)
Bee keeping would be fantastic but a lot of responsibility which I'm not sure I could cope.
Researching pubs by visiting them all ! Great idea and very appealing but not sure Mrs. Guru would see through this "hobby" pdq.

Tempted by learning a language / musical instrument

    Must be more ?
