Whatever you think of him he done a very good job at spurs. I think he's next venture will be QPR when Hughes does not achieve what is asked of him.
Absolutely. He did do a good job at Spurs. I dont deny that. Had Di Matteo not won the CL, Harry would be at Chelsea now, I'm pretty certain of that from the information I was given. Believe me, it wasnt the only the England job that Hary was whoring himself for.
I haven't looked all that closely, but from what I've read he has spent a lot of money at Spurs, and the better players (particularly the younger ones with any resale value) were not signed by him.
He might have done well there, but he had a few decent players when he got there, and he has spent a lot of money (much of which couldn't be recouped by selling the players he brought in). One does have to wonder what Spurs financial state would have been like if they hasn't had the CL season, and hadn't be so well backed by their owners.
I find it hard to believe that all the clubs he left found themselves in financial trouble by coincidence. Portsmouth, in particular, had some outrageous contacts awarded while Redknapp was there.
He is, clearly, a good coach, but there is little evidence of him getting much more out of a group of players than his predecessors. He, basically, goes out and buys a new team at massive cost (including transfers and wages).
Even though Spurs were in trouble when he came in it was clear they were in a false position, and Ramos was, rumoured, to be keen to get sacked so that he could go back to Spain and get his contract paid up.
Hmmm, in the 4 years under Redknapp, spent £100m, recouped £50m. So net spend of £50m roughly over 4 years, approximately £12.5m a season......
Carrick (bought for £3m and sold for £18m), Keane (bought for £6m and sold for £20m to Liverpool), Berbatov (bought for £10m and sold for £30m) to name the main ones. I guess the main failure in the model was buying Bentley for £15m but mistakes will happen as at all clubs.
Just checked the last 4 years expenditure over £500k for Spurs. The lot below comes to over £170m. So a bit selective there JohnBoy.
Carrick was bought in 2004 and Berbatov in 2006 so before 'Arry was there.
'Arry bought Keane for £16m not £6m.

Whatever he has done with your team, certainly hasn't been worth the phenominal investment of £170m before you even start thinking of wages.
It is also very selective to mention 170m of investment whilst at the same time completely ignoring the fees Spurs received during the same time period. I can tell you it was over 100m.
Harry Redknapp refuses to be downbeat after being sacked by Tottenham in "strange, unexpected circumstances", adding that people "at the top" of the club's heirarchy simply "do not like" him
Strange thing to say IMO. If I was a director and my manager was doing a good job, whether I liked him or not, I wouldn't sack him. Seems a very childish thing to come out with. What's 'arry not telling us??

Sorry, I'm still busy laughing at this.
You're not the only one mate. When we signed him, I thought great, another piece of the jigsaw in place. God knows what has happened to him. Who knows, under a new manager, he could be like a new signing. Sadly, I doubt it though now. Another one for the Tottenham scrapheap along with Rebrov.
I dont understand this myth that he's supposed to be some kind of great man-manager. He's not. If he was, he wouldnt have marginalised decent players in the squad.
Anyhow, onwards.
Have heard two things this morning from my contacts. Its either AVB or Klinsmann. No interest in Moyes or Martinez.

There is no way Klinsmann will get the job. His only experience of club management was a complete and utter disaster.
Was it? Quarter finals of Champions League and when he left they were second in the league. I think there is no way he will get it as he always says he is more than happy with life in the US

You mean like "my Sandra would have scored!"
Yep, exactly that. Prime example of him NOT being this great man-manager that the press like to spout.

Love it.
Jamie was quite young in this picture.
Berbatov: 31m
Keane: 20m + 4m
Palacios: 8m
Crouch: 12m
Bent: 10m
Pavlyuchenko: 11m
O'Hara: 5m
Hutton: 2-3m
All of that comes to over 100m, and there are surely a load more I've forgotten.

They really know how to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
