Oh my, what a mess. First thing to agree is that JJ is a very good player - he epimomises many of the attributes that we all hold dear, as Charlton supporters, mainly commitment and integrity because, Alan Simonson aside, we ain't seen many like Messi. Whilst at the club he was a towering youngster full of drive, just like Solly although often played in a variety of positions. As best I understand it he was also fully committed to Charlton but we chose to sell him for a tidy sum. I have been watching him develop at Liverpool and was immensely proud when he gained a full England cap last year - another one for our famed Academy, following in the footsteps of Defoe (!), Konchesky, Parker, Bowyer and Jenkinson (I'm sure there are others but a few cans of Stella are now catching up with me.) JJ is a quality player and will only get better with experience. Another factor in his favour is his popularity amongst Liverpool fans where (as I understand it) he was always prepared to spend a little longer at the training ground, signing autographs and having photos taken with Fans - such a disappointingly scarce quality for most modern footballers. Based on my very limited understanding 'Uncle' has every right to be proud of the lad. As for those on here willing to point out his technical deficiencies I'm sure most of them are entitled to an opinion as we all are, but I don't suppose that many of them were over in Turkey with Sir CP obtaining their UEFA Pro Licenses, so lets keep that part fairly subjective. As for all the finger pointing and 'offering out' I can't recall the various threads, I'm sure I'd be offended if someone called me a pissy little whatever but having said that, if someone called my nephew something similar I'd be equally defensive, whether I supported Charlton or not. As far as I'm concerned 'Uncle' should continue to be hugely proud of his Nephew (wouldn't we all be if we were in his shoes) and continue to visit the Valley as a most welcome spectator, who might not turn from the Dark Side but might have some sympathy and affection for a 'family' Club (at least we were - history will decide regarding present status) that embraces the local community and continues to support (I know Valley Gold does - but thats the point) an Academy that punches well above its weight.

Good post. Couldn't stomach to see Jonjo in a Palace shirt though. Hopefully he's off to a Swansea or WHU.
Great young player, will go on to be a superb player IMO. If he goes to Palace it will be end of and he will be back in the Championship within a year.
He won't go to Palace as I'm sure he will have better options. I think he needs games and Premiership games at that at this stage of his career. But going to a struggling side, as Palace surely will be won't help his development too much. Norwich tick all the boxes and If I was manager of Liverpool and they didn't contact me- I'd be contacting them about a loan.
Gerrard is still a top player, but he isn't going to get any younger and whilst Shelvey is still a fair bit behind him, he has the potential to be at that level. And Liverpool have to think about the season after next when jonjo will probably be a better bet for them.
I have it on very good authority he will not be going anywhere near palace. I think the words were..... "he ain't fucking going there, it would be like joining millwall". I was very pleased indeed to hear that.

I remember when he was only 16 against Coventry at the end of the 2008. Shelvey tore cov a new bum hole. I knew then that he had a great carear ahead of him.
Uncle.- Can you have a word with Jonjo, he hasn't accepted my friend request on facebook from three years ago yet. I know he's busy what with training etc, but as its the off season now, could you ask him to check his fb account.

He dont do facebook mate thats not his account, he is on twitter.
Great to hear that uncle couldn't bear one of the brightest prospects ever to come out of our academy holding up that shirt. Especially where they are now. Think I would vomit.
Yeah cheating lino....I'm getting him to sign it, he's just a bit busy at the mo. Its the shirt he wore for his first game at the valley against Coventry.

Would be a great move

Those that know him know that
It doesnt change anything about him being a gobby midget who kicks off with disabled people at sth end
However if jonjo goes to palace then neither are welcome back 8)
Family connections Uncle?

Henry will be pleased.
*shakes head in disbelief*
Couldn't you get Jonjo to sign your CL shirt?
Nobody would know the difference.
