29 Golds so far - how many more?

Still got plenty of athletics to come, and the sailing results, and maybe even one (or two) in the tennis.

Can we beat the 19 at Beijing?

  • thought it was 15?
  • Well, I'm not keeping a personal tally, but the Beeb seem to be saying 14.

If it's 15 then even better!

  • 14 and another 5 possible in the cycling
  • I'm gonna go for 21
  • I think we can get to 20 golds...

    Mens 5,000M
    Mens 400M Hurdles
    Womens 400M
    Mens Triple Jump
    Mens Singles Tennis
    Mixed Doubles Tennis
    Sailing Events
    Mens Keirin
    Mens Sprint
    Mens Omnium
    Mens Triathalon

I can see 6 more from that
  • Must have got carried away! In with a great chance of beating Beijing tally, couple more in cycling and couple in sailing look likely for starters.
  • Still got some boxers going strong as well haven't we?
  • Lol ISLS - "Sailing events" all banded in together - and no, I don't know the difference either!

I think we got 4 sailing golds at Beijing, so that looks promising.
  • Hoping if I snuck it in noone would notice.

The Star class, that's one. Bugger knows about the rest.
  • Ben Ainslie in the Finn class
    Paul Goodison Laser dinghy class
Iain Percy and Andrew Simpson in the Star class

  • So, without getting greedy, a couple in the sailing, a couple more in the cycling and a couple in the athletics will see us pass Beijing - with tennis and boxing a possible bonus.

    Brilliant.
  • Good job someone who knows what they are talking about is around... well there you go that's a few more big hopes! Heading for 20+!
  • I guarantee the laser dinghy is nowhere near as good as it sounds
  • We cannot compare our total medals to the top two who have 6 times and 18 times our popultation but compare our performance to other like-sized countries, truly brilliant.
  • Modern pentathlon and open water swimming are genuine gold prospects.
  • There's also a possible medal in the BMX cycling as well - Shazne Read is expected to win a medal in the women's race. Remember Beijing? She was in silver with bronze way back, she challenged for gold fell and lost out altogether. She deserves something this time around.

Oh I dunno - it looks pretty sexy to me!

  • Suspect Andy Murray might well get at least one gold tomorrow, plus another batch in the velodrome, Ainslie might be the hardest one to get
  • There are some good hopes in the canoeing - that kicks off at Eton Dorney now the rowing is over.
  • Murray's got to play the doubles after the singles, ridiculous if he goes 5 sets with Fed

  • still got 6 boxers in the quarters.

They only play a max of 3 in the Olympics.
  • It's only 3 sets isn't it?
  • Swimming - open water 10k Keri-Anne Payne is favourite for gold.
  • Final is a 5 set Len.

Its 5 sets in the final
  • I think the total medal count that they targeted for 2012 was 50 medals

At the time I thought it was ambitious and right now I still think its ambitious

However if we could get 20 golds I don't think the 50 would matter if the target did not get hit

I would like to think that 25 golds is achievable an would be a feat that we would never beat in my life time

However the slogan of the games is to inspire a generation

And of there are young athletes watching this who knows what it could do

London 2012 the most successful Olympic games for GB ever

that would certainly inspire a generation

    Didn't know that.

They've played 3 all the way through so I thought it was the same.

    It makes very little sense
  • Murray has two finals and potentially 8 sets of tennis to play tomorrow - and you just know some here are willing for him to lose.
