Really think it's a golden chance for Murray tomorrow afternoon (in more ways than one).
There is a lot less pressure on him to win, however it is all but a Grand Slam final. The momentum of a win could really propel him to the very top level with the other three.
Worth every penny, I'd say. you have to ask what caused the decline in other nations, though. Germany France Cuba?
Germany were still benefiting from the merger of the drugs cheats from East Germany, France are doing ok in this games, Cuba cannot afford to fund "proffessional" sportsman without Soviet money
Possibly we could get more medals in the Taekwondo - Sarah Stevenson is World champion and Lutato Mohammed goes in the men's class. The latter had better win if only for the sake of his governing body...
Cheerfull no but sadly it will be the case . Hopefully with millions watching tonight it will inspire enough youngsters to compete and to overcome the inevitable political cuts.
Hopefully all the gold medal winners sung the national anthem ......unlike those overpaid footballers who prolly don't pay any tax or are welsh/scottish
Great effort after the early stutter Team GB(that sounds so gay) have done us proud , keep going for GOLD !
I now genuinely believe we can get 25+ golds, we still have at least 10 genuine gold medal hopes: cycling - Hoy in Keiren, VP in Sprint, Kenny in sprint and Trott in Omnium, plus Clancy is currently joint second in omnium and Reade in BMX sailing - Ainslie and Percy today, 1/2 other good contenders athletics - farah in the 5000, good other medal shouts (ohorougu, greene, aldama, two pole vaulters, shakes-drayton, relays), but any more than 1 gold would be big shock. boxing - women start today and 4 men through to quarters - should be about 2 golds brownlee brothers in triathlon gymnastics - outside bets - smith in pommels diving - daley - outside bet for gold, maybe a bronze or something equestrian - good opportunites for a couple of golds, especially in the dressage
I think we can reach 25 golds and a total of 70 medals. Would be exceptional performance.
I've really enjoyed this olympics and believe so have most of the majority of this country. I don't think I've heard a home nation support their team so well ever! The lottery has done wonders for our athletes in funding infrastructure and allowing them to be full time sports people, rather than being skint or working part time, BUT! does anyone else agree with me that if an athlete receives funding which helps them achieve success, then they should agree to pay back a percentage of future earnings from the sport, in order to help others coming through?
Not really church lane. Theoretically, the more they earn, the more tax they pay back (yeah I know), so they are contributing through their success in that sense.
In reality, look at what people like Kelly Holmes, Redgrave, Christie, Pinsent etc put back in their sport through fundraising, coaching, mentoring, ambassador work,.and they are more than putting back.

agree, they work very hard in putting things back into sport, as I believe they should. They shouldn't just become commentators, it is nice if they can pass on their knowledge and experience to those coming through
