  • I've changed my mind. (Bear in mind that I HATE boxing.)

    Nicola Adams.
    She's just wonderful.

Yup, hard to choose but Nicola Adams still holds sway at our place.
  • Jade Jones because she got better with every round, plus she's only 19. Immensely proud of the cyclists and the rowers and Mo. Jess, has been mentioned has had "THAT" event and gold round her neck for 4 years and she smashed it. To be third on the medal table - should make everybody proud to be British once more.
  • Mo Farah - what a run - just stupendous - cant believe he held them off.
What a guy, what a race!
    Wow!

He is speaking so well in post-run interview.
Mofarah foundation.org will get some hits tonight - all good - lovely guy

  • Love Jade Jones's Dad's t-shirt. Never seen her fight before it read.

    JADE JONES LOVE YOUR BONES.

    QUALITY
  • I can't pick one.
  • Yep after tonight's performance I am gonna change my mind & say that was my favourite. That is the best run race I have ever seen by a british athlete. Knew exactly how to control the race from start to finish. Absolutely brilliant!!
  • Very tough so I'll give two answers.

    Favourite person: Mo Farah

    Favourite performance: David Rudisha
  • Aaaargh! Too difficult! After changing my mind once already, I'm just going to say that these 4 epitomise the GB team:

    Mo Farah
    Nicola Adams
    Laura Trott
    Bradley Wiggins

But the whole lot of them are brilliant.
  • Would have to be Mo....but was really impressed with the Kenyen Rhodisia....an amazing run in the 800 metres...no messing around with tactics with that lad.

Seems that our very own Gemma Gibbons (Judo silver medalist from Charlton) was fighting with a broken thumb, not easy I reckon in that particular sport. If Gemma had had two thumbs working I reckon she would've golded.
  • I wonder if Gemma Gibbons is a fan of the club? If she is the club could invite her to a match and she could parade her medal at half time. I seem to remember Dame Kelly Holmes at a match after she won in double gold Athens. The image of Gemma mouthing "I love you mum" up to the sky is one of the iconic moments from London 2012 for me.

  • I go for Nicola Adams a lovely young lady with a great smile....what The Olympics should be about
  • For me it has to be Gemma Gibbons.

I'm a Trustee of Greenwich Starting Blocks, the Charity created by Royal Greenwich to identify and financially support talented athletes based in Greenwich. We have been supporting Gemma since we launched the charity and in fact it was only Starting Blocks funding that enabled Gemma to take part in the pre-Olympics selection events in Samoa and South Korea. Watching her win the silver medal was fantastic and a very proud moment for all the Trustees.

Starting Blocks actually had three athletes in the Games, young weightlifter Zoe Smith who broke the British Record and Tosin Oke, representing Nigeria came 7th in the Triple Jump. We also have an athlete taking part in the Paralympic Games; wheelchair rugby's Andy Barrow.

  • That's fantastic s

That's fantastic stuff Suthers. Always great to support talent from the local area and see it being recognised at the highest levels.
  • And it was a hard won medal at that - she fought through a couple of tough rounds against better ranked opponents to get to the final.
  • I would love to see her presented at a pretty full Valley and we can all chant 'Gem ah! Gem ah!' like the crowd did when she was fighting.
  • Nicola Adams
  • Great insight Suthers - thanks and well done to all concerned.
  • Jeez. Wheelchair rugby.
    That's got to be messy!

Absolutely brilliant sport - the only ticket request I made in the original ballot.
    Lots of ex servicemen, obviously.

  • Thanks for that, Suthers.

    Great stuff .
