Excellent goal from Haynes, well done Danny. (Wasn't as good as his goal at The Valley & unless I'm going mad, it wasn't 35 yards. Just outside the penalty area I thought, more like 20 yards :-)

Just saw the goals on SSN, Haynes goal was superb and Yann's came from good team pressure high up the pitch.

Absolutely buzzing after that result. I predicted an optimistic 2-1 win whilst so many were predicting a real thumping, which you could see some thought process, but some people were also forgetting that this is Charlton and we somehow pull it out the bag when no one expects it.

Massive amount of credit for everyone tonight. We will be safe 100%, we have got quality in this team. SISS

In love with Powell and this group of players that he's managed to put together. Very happy! COYR

Leicester supporting mate who was at the game said it was a solid if unspectacular performance and we deserved the result. When I saw the team that we'd put out I thought we were definitely going for a draw but I'm well chuffed with that result.

Nathan's even commented on that as well.

    Strange child.
  • Had a truly shitty day but it finishes on a high note. Thanks to the lads for pulling the win off, wasn't over confident we'd get anything so my spirits are lifted. Cracking result.

Just pinched this from the Leicester forum

Just got back, and that was utter pathetic, Kermorgant honestly terrorised us tonight.

Kermorgant as usual won a lot of headers, Keane and co struggled against him, it was written in the script that he would score, but his header leading up to the second goal, as soon as that left his head, I said "Brilliant header that" then it fell to Haynes who hit one of the best goals scored by an opposition side I have ever seen at the King Power, it was an incredible strike, if you haven't seen it keep an eye out on SSN.

Haynes is a cracker as is Yanns left foot sweep into the corner. Great technique by Haynes to let it bounce, steady himself and catch it on the sweet spot on his left foot. Well happy. Bring on the Forest ( no I haven't forgotten our home record on Saturdays! ).

  • I wish the BBC would sort their website/red button scores out, as all the games got to the 90th minute then the scores stopped updating!

Haynes could end up being every single goal of the season contender at this rate.

Driving up the M1 earlier today, I was questioning my love of football. Why am I travelling to Leicester midweek? With their home record and league position it was not easy to be confident.

But my oh my, Charlton never cease to amaze, against all odds, a battling, spirited and hearty performance. Led by a certain French man, who oozes an astounding level of passion.

We started well, each man working for the cause with extreme guts. For all of Leicester's flashy passing and movement, they were not special.

Real quality was shown today, glimpses of class. Mainly from Yann and Pritchard down the right side, who linked up superbly and cut through Leicester's defence, on occasion, like butter. Pritchard even laid Konchesky on the floor with his skill, which bamboozled our ex-player.

There werre flaws with individuals, but it does not seem fitting to mention these at the moment. Each one of the boys should be truly proud and I hope the people at home now are bathing in this moment of success that we have.

Danny Haynes, unbeliveable. That was from thirty five yards, with barely a back-lift he rifles it past a hapless Schmeichel. Special mention must go to Chris Powell, inspired substitution. It's hopefully proved people wrong, keep the faith. It would have been easy for him to sit back and hold on to that. 1-1, but he wanted that win, he wanted that win a lot.

Kermorgant was my man of the match, he really kept the Leicester fans quiet, simply because he was just so good today, didn't miss one header, it wasn't just getting his head on it, they were directed superbly. He scored, it was written in the stars. I spoke to a Leicester fan outside of the ground, he was rightfully impressed.

I am currently on the way back down the M1, I really do love football.

Great post and a brilliant reward for you travelling up there midweek. Good on you A2TR.

Cracking strike from Haynes. Even better when you consider it was literally his first touch.

Good to see Powell learning from past errors. Maintain that had he done something similar with subs at Palace we would have won that as well.

Hopefully we can build on this and pick up a decent result on Saturday.

Wonderful goal by Haynes. Beautiful back header by Yann then Haynes lets the ball bounce twice while he spins and then puts his left foot right through it. Unstoppable.

Thanks for that, very nice of Wes Morgan to play statues whilst the ball dropped down for Haynes to score.

Other people rave about Morgan, I think he is a complete donkey.

I think this was a massive result as it sent a message to the players that we can't sit back too much. That trait has probably cost us a play off place this season but the reaction from the commentators said it all - what is he doing? etc... when he brought Haynes on for Dervite. We knew what he was doing - had he not done it, we would have lost that game. Ok, you need a bit of luck but if any game changes a mentality, this is it.

Very happy for Chrissy, everybody is entitled to make mistakes, as long as they learn from them and whilst the lack of points from our last few games has been frustrating, the lessons learned could be priceless. COYRs.

This. Chris Powell can make mistakes but he learns from them. CP is a good manager and will be a great manager. I want this to be at Charlton. Continuity is key. 100% support for Chris Powell and the team.

Great result. Charlton always surprise with unexpected victories. Some great victories against Cardiff, Watford and Leicester. With 3 quality additions this team would be in the play offs. Very happy with the 3 points though.

  • Wonderful, wonderful win!

    That table is so close.

Boro are 6th and have lost more games than hudders who are 21st!!
