I liked it. Easily pleased I guess... :-)
  • I'm not sure anybody can complain about Skyfall... Whilst it conveniently ties up all loose ends, it's the biggest box office movie of all time in the UK, so you're definitely in the minority of ALL time cinema go-ers!

In fact 12 million people + watched this film at the cinema - truly remarkable!

What happened to the missing hard drive?

Skyfall has loads of plotholes, which is fine, 'cos it's a Bond movie, but it goes against what they were trying to achieve with Casino Royale. By the end, we're back to Dr No. I don't get that. Combined with the swiss cheese logic of the movie, I was disappointed. It made less money than Transformers too.

    It looks great though.

Popularity has never and will never be a barometer of quality.

The sun is the biggest selling newspaper,
McDonald's the most popular restaurant and I have no idea what the current no. one single. Is but I bet it's cack.

Looking forward to seeing it though.
  • But you don't go to see a James Bond film and expect realism, nuance and plausability though do you?
  • But you don't go to see a James Bond film and expect realism, nuance and plausability though do you?

Yes, actually I do now to an extent. Sure, not in the Connery or Moore days, but realism and plausibility is precisely what the Craig era was pitching for. Practical stunts, minimal CGi, no gadgets, the Bourne stunt team...

  • I'll throw 'Titanic' to the wolves on this one. Normally like James Cameron films but I find that he is similar to Hitchcock in that he becomes absorbed by the technical challenges sometimes to the detriment of the storyline.

Also second the remake of Girl with a Dragon Tattoo. Just don't see the point of remaking something if you're not going to improve on the original.

You obviously haven't seen any of the Craig era then! No gadgets? We've all got a defibrillator fitted in our glove compartments haven't we?
Skyfall was simply a fantastic film. Total escapism and wonderfully entertaining with action, humour, drama, suspense and the best ever Bond villain. And so much set in London and the UK made it special.

A portable defibrillator? Seriously? That's pushing the boundaries of reality in your world?

"What did you expect, an exploding pen?" - Q in Skyfall. What did you think the point of that line was!?

"Because it felt like the right thing to do. It felt that post-9/11 that we’d gotten too fantastical with Die Another Day and we needed to go back to a more...realistic story." Barbara Broccoli.

There was a plausibility about Casino Royale that the producers were actively going for, that Skyfall, in my opinion, did away with. It returned it to square one. Like Goldfinger, Bond achieved nothing. But Bond isn't supposed be like Goldfinger anymore. But hey, if you enjoyed it more, you win!

Loved the first two Terminator films and Aliens, almost everything else he's done I've been indifferent to at best for much the same reason. Chucks in some truly impressive special effects and is technically very impressive but unlike Sarah Connor or Ripley in none of his others are there characters who seem to have any kind of growth or development. Titanic you knew that Leo would die and the boat would sink, it robbed any kind of interest I had. You may as well watch the Disney Pocahontas in 3D as Avatar, it's pretty much the same thing.

Rant over, carry on chaps and chappesses.
  • Paranormal activity

Wasted time money and effort to go see it
  • I watched The Godfather last night, and was quite disappointed.

To be fair to it though, I imagine it looked much better at the time; pretty much every plot point was familiar to me, even just from watching The Simpsons!
I was expecting this powerhouse of a film that would really move me, and instead I got 3 hours of constant murdering. I just didn't care by the end.

Easily the greatest of all time.

Watch the godfather part 2, It's (in my opinion) better and made me appreciate the first one a lot more.

Skyfall was cack, another horribly overrated film is avatar. Don't understand films basing their entire selling point on CGI, since in a few years it will look dated.

Delete Billy Zane, Leo and Kate. Graft on characters from the poseidon adventure and i think you have a decent film. When you have the drama of a sinking ship you do not need to add a madman running around with a gun looking for romantic revenge.

As for Avatar. I understand exactly what you saying and the fact I've only watched it once probably proves you correct - i normally watch films I like multiple times. I'll add this about Avatar and any big blockbuster - they have to be seen and judged in their natural environment - at the cinema or a large home projector in HD. A lot is lost when watching on normal tv's.

    Blair Witch.

Abysmal to a degree that doesnt really exist...100 minutes of my life I can never get back.

I think Blair Witch is quality.
100% agree. Scared the living shit out of me, when I saw it first time. Sweaty palms and a sense of relief, when it finished.
I've seen a few films that have done that to me (apart from the scared bit)
  • I have just watched Django Unchained. It couldn't make up its mind whether it wanted to be 'Blazing Saddles', a spaghetti western or make a serious comment on racism befor the American Civial War. In the end it failed on all three counts.
Jamie Foxx showed that he can't act. Only Clint Eatwood can do Clint Eastwood.

Oh is that why he has been nominated for 2 Oscars, winning one?

Lol. that trailer just said it all.

After coming out of the cinema i thought at least it was better than quantum of solace and then i thought, its not hard to make a film better than quantum of solace.
I had so many questions including about the hard drive, the explosion in the underground and how the hell has this film and that Adel song made so much money?!
