I don't get all this criticism, I agree we should have enforced the follow on. However, we batted them out of the game, guaranteed the series and should still sneak a 2-0. Why all the criticism? Would any of you care if we did this in the 5th test of the Ashes at 2-1 up?0

When cook was out yesterday we should have declared I think we did bat too long. A lead of 350 was insurmountable.0

Although I would've declared a bit earlier than they did, I think I agree, given the circumstances of the series. Had this been the first test at Lords, I would been as annoyed as some are.cafcfan1990 said:I don't get all this criticism, I agree we should have enforced the follow on. Enforcing the follow on might've left us with a tricky 150 to chase today.

It's the negative safety first approach against poor opposition.
Say it was a 2 legged cup tie and Charlton were ahead from the 1st leg and were playing for a draw at home to Palace. No one would mind. If it was Barnet though, people would probably be moaning.
The decision to bat again was strange, the decision to bat on for ages longer than was necessary was pathetic.

Would the series in NZ, where we struggled to scrape a series draw, play a part in the safety first approach?0

Covers still on...........Oh, hang on.........the "outer" covers being removed.0

Play set to restart at 3 if the rain holds off until then. Think we've got half to an hour to get the last two wickets from 9, 10 and 11.
Here we go again.0 -
Play is resuming - Finn to bowl...0 -
Rain starting again, probably got this Swann over before they go back inside.0
-
Swann gets a wicket, reviewed straight away. Overturned.0

I've got tickets for the ODI at Lords on Friday. Hoping that:
1. The weather is ok.
2. The kiwis put on a more competitive display than in the tests so far.0 -
They're still playing, come on England.0

Edge off Finn drops just short of Cook at first slip... still 220-90

There's a new ball due in five overs...0
-
Not even taking the runs on offer as Wagner wants to face pace and Boult the spin...
