  • And ITV Digital has an encryption system that could be undone by typing numbers in from your remote control...
  • All true! But forget the ITV Digital reference for a moment as that really wasn't the main point - a higher proportion of fans attend the lower league games. There are nowhere near as many armchair Charlton, Palace or Darlington fans compared to those who can only watch their teams on telly in the top flight.

On top of that, neutrals enjoy watching the top half of the Prem playing each other. I don't expect there are many neutrals dying to watch us.
  • Sky plans price cuts to combat BT

BSKYB is preparing to hit back against competition from BT’s new sports channels by cutting prices for its broadband packages.

Reductions to internet and TV bundles could be announced this week.

  • I thought that the BT Sports that was free to BT fiber customers was only the online coverage, not on TV (I.e through your skybox) ?

It is free to BT broadband customers, who can watch BT sport on their TV if they have a box (either BT YouView, Sky, Freesat etc). Bt broadband customers who don't have a box can watch BT sport for free on a PC/laptop/tablet.

So maybe a Welling game or 2 next season.
  • Be great if Welling v Dartford was shown live, playing Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

  • Big launch day tomorrow to tie in with the Premiership Rugby fixture list announcement. Will be interesting to see how this all goes.

Good that both the welling dartford games are at christmas/ new year. I think the conference has always tried to make sure that games at that time of year are derbys or as local as possible so fans don't travel far.

And a short trip to Aldershot in between. If they survive that is.

  • Saw some cracking Christmas non-league "derbies" when I was growing up. My dad always talked about this game he saw where both teams were sent off.

They actually played on Christmas day back then? Wow, didn't know that.

Any chance you could tell a bit more about the game? Interesting about both teams being sent off. How did it happen?

  • I'll ask my dad when I speak to him next but from what I remember he just said it was a really dirty game, ridiculous tackles loads of fighting, I think the ref (a copper) sent a few off first and it just kept going on so sent the lot off and abandoned the game.
  • Cheers Nug, Weren't most refs Police back then?
I'm really fascinated by this now actually. I'm gonna try and see what I can find out myself, must be something about it online.
  • I just added the BT sports channels, you need to phone 0800 756 7566 and they add them for you. You'll need your sky viewing number (press sky go up and along to settings, then systems details).

If you do it before the 1st of August you get a free HD upgrade for a year (you'll need a HD receiver).

The channel says you also get Italian, French and German top flight league matches.

    Hope that helps.

Did you have to pay a connection fee?
  • No I didn't, perhaps I should have reiterated that I am already a BT infinity subscriber.
  • Loco, how did sky know that you're an existing BT infinity customer? Do they ask for your BT account number when you ring that number?

Sky don't know, BT tell them to enable the channels through the sky viewing card number, just phone the number above and give them your viewing card number, they take care of the rest.

The number ..... 0800 756 7566 is BT not sky.

Shag, I don't have the foggiest idea.

I have just registered and no fee. BT Sport available from 1st August on Sky channels 413 and 414. Worth registering now if you are a BT broadband customer as demand will ramp up around 1st August.....

Just to reiterate; You need to register (which is free) before 1st Aug to get HD free (for a year), which is normally £3/month.

BT Sport 1 on channels 413 / HD on 426
BT Sport 2 on channels 414 / HD on 427
ESPN on channels 417 / HD on 433

You also get access to BTplayer which will let you watch online, not just from home but also from BThotspots on any compatible mobile device.

Yes, but you'll need an additional viewing card, BT will only open channels to one card (for free) unless you have the sky multiroom.
  • I have just registered and although no cost involved, after you have confirmed a new 12 month contract etc you are then informed that:-

A monthly £2.00 payment processing fee (levied by BT Payment Services Limited, a BT Group company) will apply if you do not pay your bill by Direct Debit or Monthly Payment Plan.

Your BT Broadband package will be re-contracted for a minimum term of 12 months.

Pay my bill the day they email it to me and have to pay for them to admin it.......
  • Cleverest thing BT have ever done is take money and call it 'free'!
  • Haha behave yourself it will be free for the majority. I can't think why you would pay for something monthly without using direct debit or the payment plan
  • @Pitbull - why not set up the DD? It's cheaper & you don't have to worry about paying the bill manually? They still send me a bill every month (better than the old quarterly bills) and then collect the money without me having to do anything.
  • Anyone know what the score is with Vigin punters? We get broadband though BT but have a Virgin box/subscription.
