Andor is an excellent series and in keeping with Rogue One’s tone. The slightly slower pace really helps the producers develop the characters.
Mandalorian proves that an unknown SW character can become a winning formula, while the story telling is as good as ‘baby yoda’ is cute… The drawing in of characters such as Bo-Katan and Boba Fett was smart and really enjoyable to watch. My droid from TROS features in this show - will mean nothing to any of you but I sat there and exhaled - WTAFF - that’s my droid 🤣
Book of Boba Fett - just not up to Jon Favreau’s usual high standards. I would describe it as more comic book to screen than any of the other Star Wars series. It pays a lot of lip service, the only aspect of which peaked my interest was the appearance of Black Krrsantan.
Obi-Wan - if you ever wanted to understand what old Ben was doing with himself on Tatooine (he stayed on Tatooine - really..?) for those 18 or so years awaiting Luke’s growing up, you get a decent sense of it through this series and it is pretty damn good after a slowish start, less one episode that has as many plot holes as a Swiss cheese. Without giving too much away, lightsaber duels ✅ , how Leia got to know Ben from a young age ✅ and the Inquisitors brought to live action from their Rebels series outings ✅.
Ahsoka - very biased as I love this character, so hard to remain objective, but fair to say I really liked the fact that it drew in Rebels (animated series) characters and introduced Grand Admiral Thrawn to live action too. The latter character was very well performed, albeit his facial structure was imperfect for those of us who know what to expect.
The Rebels animated series is one I would watch and stick with - shorter than the clone wars (equally great), as it provides for useful background information on afterlife in the Force etc. which helps other stuff in series make more sense.
What do you mean by your droid appeared in the show?
Have to agree re- Mando, he's a complete hit. One of my favourite things about the Mandolorian is the ending credits, I really appreciate the music and the concept art in the rolling credits. Just always ends the show really nicely for me and I appreciate good end credits as I think it's an important setup for the next episode of a series.
My astromech in the Rise of Skywalker appeared in the Mandalorian. I cannot show:put online the picture due the usual nda stuff, but can pm you a pic of the painting which was commissioned for me for my 50th from stills, on the proviso it is just to understand what I am on about and is not posted anywhere. The painting is wholly mine, but the rights to reproduction other than my use remain with him, so as I say would be FYEO. No biggie either way but will make a lot more sense..
No go ahead, that would be great to see. I understand the confidentiality and won't share, just curious to see.
What a remarkable achievement, and a massive congratulations, must be a very proud feeling seeing that.
I came across this video a while back. The fight between Vader and Obi-wan from Episode IV, redone with some actual fighting, rather than the polite fencing in the original:
Enjoying the acolyte so far. Wish the Eps were all 45 mins long but the reveal for the baddy was a good one. Looking forward to seeing how that progresses!
Last week it was lesbian witches. This week's "controversy" is that one of the Jedi masters who said about 3 words is apparently not old enough to have been around in this period of the Republic. This outrage has prompted "fans" to review-bomb The Acolyte on Rotten Tomatoes. But they're so frikkin' stupid that they got the wrong Acolyte and are instead slating the 2008 Australian horror film Acolytes.
Without giving anything away, I thought the reveal was a little too obvious from the viewers perspective and also that the 'twist' toward the end should have been obvious from the character's perspective.

Well one of the characters definitely is aware of the switch and I'm fairly sure the other is at the very least suspicious.
The fight scenes in the last episode were great, the storyline and dialogue is still really poor but at least the fight choreography meant you could enjoy this episode!

This is why I enjoyed Andor so much. It had the other elements in spades and didn't rely on action set pieces or fan service. It was proper TV that happened to be set in the Star Wars universe.
That's not to say I didn't enjoy the fighting and surprising offing of characters in the last Acolyte episode!

Andor was so unusual in the Star Wars genre. No jedi, no sith, no lightsabers, I think maybe 1 space battle? It was entirely character and plot-driven and it was utterly superb.

I love Rogue One, it's one of my favourite Star Wars films. Apparently the second series of Andor will take us to where the film begins.
Just watched the first four Episodes of the Acolyte
Quite enjoyed it from the beginning actually
That person with the Red Lightsabre is surely one of the female Force users from Ep3, I'm going for the lady with the horns on her face (white Darth Maul), as do we see her body?
I enjoyed the final episode of the the acolyte as much as it infuriated me
50% of the episodes have been amazing, really good. 50% have annoyed me for various reasons, mainly pacing which was all over the place. This last episode had a great lightsabre fight, and some really decent acting as far as star wars goes but it also started threads that I'm unsure this series can properly cash in.
Overall I'd say this series mirrored England's euro campaign. Slow moving interspersed with moments of genius
I am a massive Star Wars fan, but am left bewildered as to how or why Leslye Headland took this series in the direction they did?
An effective Padawan force choking a Jedi Master (seriously…?) - did somebody paraphrase the 9 movies and they misconstrue how everything fits together?
The only highlights for me were the final duel and a glimpse of:
Darth Plagueis
But this indicates that they plan to reveal the backstory to
Anakin’s ‘conception’
Genuinely, we do not need to fill every backstory moment. The mystique was just fine and added to the derring-do.
Bring on Andor final series - I need a tonic and have faith in that team… Series overall 2/5 - marginally behind Book of Boba!
Just started rewatching the Mandalorian over again, just finishing series 1 as i speak.
Forgot how good it actually is. Just a perfect mix of everything Star Wars. The interaction between the two Imperial troopers at the beginning of episode 8 had me chuckling like a child.

Rogue One is superb, best spin off by a country mile

The first series is by far the best. I don't mind the others but they feel much more perfunctory and "made for profit" rather than the first one which feels like it was made out of love of Star Wars IMO.

Same here as in a massive Star Wars geek.
Reading a few interviews with Headland and it's even more baffling how the show kinda... just... didnt really do it. She says she's a big fan including the old EU novels (good) but wanted to bring in an extra writer with no real Star Wars knowledge (not so good), add in how they really wanted to pull form different genres for episodes - a lot of Korean and Martial arts stuff plus a "predator moment" and it just lost its way. Interestingly, also changed the ending after seeing Manny Jacinto doing his thing.
In her words as to that cameo "I mean.... its my show"
I love the Old Republic setting, theres a lot of potential there and some great characters, would love to see some Revan, but, also, dont want to see him get the Fett treatment.

First episode I've felt fulfilled with and am looking forward to the next 3

Nice couple of cameos, I'd be happy if we got further seasons, basically taking us to the Phantom Menace if possible.
