In general I'm against naming stands after former managers. If Curbs gets one and I'm not saying that he shouldn't. That leaves two. In twenty years we name one after SCP leaving one. This club is going to be around a long time and hopefully in the many years ahead we will have more great managers than stands to name them after.

Don't mess around with naming a suite after him let's name a stand after him. I suggest the North stand be named the Curbishley stand.

The "North" Stand has a name already....... ;)

I would say yes he should.
In this era there are few managers that remain in one job for so long.

however I think it needs to be in 5 years time at a minimum, when he definitely has finished managing.

We have a stand named after Jimmy Seed?
  • he has finished now tbf

but like Oggy says you have 4 stands 1 already has been named after the one who one the only major trophy we will ever lift

    that leaves 3

now any 3 managers with the right financial support could achieve what Alan C did in the next 50 yrs so then all 4 are named what then

    build an octagonal ground ??

No, left us in the shit for England ambition and screwed his own career as well.

"In the shit" - I'm sure you're just looking for a bite, but if not your comment suggests you know absolutely nothing about Charlton Athletic

I think he should have a stand named after him but I would have thought that it would be done after his career is finished.

    I think it already is.

Well after a 113 year history, we've only got one named after a manager.

In all seriousness, isn't there a bust of Curbishley in the Valley reception area? Sure I've seen it and certainly recall Murray saying he would get one done when Curbs left.

There is a bust of both Seed and Curbs. I think they are outside the boardroom now.

Should name a toilet block after him.
"His name is Alan Curbishley, he's got no personality" and he always wanted to be Wet Spam manager not ours

I'm judging him purely on what he did for Charlton on results. I wouldn't say Alex Ferguson was Mr Personality but he did the business and so did Curbs. If he wanted to be West Ham manager at some stage, so what ? There's loads of people doing jobs who wish they were elsewhere !
  • A big NO
He did well for us but
  • He did well for us but where do we stop?
    He did his job
What about all the other managers that got us some sort of success ?
    Their doing their jobs!

Took his time getting round to it then, 15 years and he waited till he was shown the door.

How many other managers can you name that got Charlton the same sort of success ? The 3 mentioned namely Jimmy Seed, Lennie Lawrence & Alan Curbishley have been the only managers who , and this is only my opinion, who deserve recoqistion
