He was voted our greatest ever manager a few years back. Jimmy Seed has a stand, why not Curbs? We have so little at our ground recognising those who have achieved so much. "Sam Bartram Entrance" for crying out loud.
In an age where football managers are around an average of about 1-2 years, it's unlikely there will be an abundance of managers in our future who will have a 15 year reign AND the success he had.
If we are bein that picky then we'll rarely end up commemorating anyone at the club.
On more than one occasion I have got chatting to random football fans abroad and one of the first things they say is 'Alan Curbishley'. That sort of identity he made with our club is pretty much second to none in the modern era. And yes that includes Chris Powell.
Something, but probably not a stand. One stand name has gone already - and rightly so, but as an optimist I'd like to think we'll see three more influential managers; perhaps starting with CP ;-)

Yes. Can't believe some idiots on here slating him, I hope they're just on a wind up. Under Curbs we didn't just survive in the prem, we were an established outfit. We had realistic ambitions of playing in Europe and had the chance to watch some players of real quality playing in a Charlton shirt. The Valley was a tough place to come to, and all the top teams bar Man U went away empty handed on occasion. Claudio Ranieri even called us Chelsea's bogey team.
If we had given him the money we gave that prat Dowie, imagine where our football club could've been
I recognise the error now ! I used to be good at spelling. I think too many pints of bitter have destroyed that part of the brain !
Yeah, my Brian is wrecked too! :-) As for a stand: I'd say yes but not until he's dead. In the meantime he could have a West Stand car park pothole named after him. It's getting so that they have larger capacity than the stands anyway.
Its a no from me. Despite him being in my top three Charlton people ever I think there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people, some non footballing, who have done as much to get Charlton to where they have been, where they are and where they will be. Singling individuals out demeans the work of others.
There are arguments about who deserves and doesn't derserve a stand named after them, but surely it's got to be better having memorably named stands than the boring North, South, East West titles, and geographically there's nothing else to name the N W and E stands after.
To add to my comment above: Football grounds are mostly unlovely places, where the stands are grim structures of corrugated steel with plastic seats occupied only by feral pigeons apart from a couple of hours a fortnight during the season. They make a bleak memorial. If you must do it, an interior public space (a suite, a restaurant?) would at least be more intimate - and even then certainly not while the man acclaimed is still alive.
YES. I think it would be fitting to name a stand after AC.
The Valley would not be as grand as it is, if it wasn't for the success on the field.
We should also remember, the first few years back at the Valley our 1st div (championship) status could have been at risk due to lack of financial invetsment in the team (money having to be spent on the ground). He kept us safe till the Valley started to take shape and better income flowed in.

That said, I'm backing the "Mark Fish Toilet"...

One day maybe but not yet.
